Where will Hoke be 4 years from now?

I genuinely wish the guy the best, but I doubt he will be a HC at a major conference program, leading his top 10 team to a conference championship game.

I dunno. I think he has a good run at another school. No National Championships or anything, but he takes a program in shambles and gives it some stability and a talented roster, and he ditches most of his old staff for a better one that runs competitive NCAA football, and he has a solid run. Retires coaching in 10 years. Visits Michigan Stadium the following year during Homecoming to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Sugar Bowl squad. Shortly thereafter receives a position in the Athletic Department related to academics and/or recruiting.

He might have to step down to the coordinator level in college before getting another shot at a head coaching job.  If all goes well, he'll be back to being the head coach of a MAC level school and hopefully taking what he learned here to become a better coach.

Hopefully he gets another shot at a bigger program before his career is over.

Does anyone think he will be an analyst or broadcaster if he doesn't coach next year?  I doubt it.  That says a lot that our former coach's opinion and presentation won't be respected in the football world.

If Matt Millen can do it, anyone can... and no I'm not piling on because of his tenure with the Lions.  The Lions suck, they have sucked for over 2 generations now, and they will always suck -- I won't support them until the Ford family sells the team... but I digress.  Anyway, listening to Millen call a game is unbearable.  He makes me want to puncture my eardrums with a rusty ice pick.

I hope so.  I hope Hoke finds his fit somewhere and does great things.  I hope his fan base is more tolerable than the douchebags coming out of the woodwork here too.

I think he'd be a steal for

Kansas, cinci (if they didn't have tubs), rice. Somewhere that has a program that defines success as a bowl game 80% of the years, players graduating and largely staying out of trouble, and operating in the black. No one ever thought the man was a genius or anything, but he clearly has people skills and for some schools that is enough.

As the prospect of Hoke no longer being the head coach at Michigan sometime within the month of December seems likely now, I would have to think that - if he ends up as a head coach elsewhere - it is at a place where the standards for managing the program are a little more relaxed. As you mentioned, a place where good APR, a decent record and providing a boost to the program's standing are probably enough. It's far more difficult, in my opinion, to walk into Michigan which has the standing already and a fanbase that knows precisely where they have been and where they would like to be again - it creates a set of expectations that not too many coaches would be able to maintain with regularity in the current environment.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the guy working for our athletic department  or recruiting or something kind of behind the scenes in a couple years.  I sincerely believe the guy loves Michigan, and really might consider something else inside the program if the opportunity arose.

HC at a Mountain West/American Athletic school.  He will do a 3 year NFL tour, and get another shot at college.  He'll be 60 in 4 years, so that may be his last job.

I hope Brady Hoke takes a year off, enjoys his money a bit and figures out what he did wrong.   Everyone gets knocked down a few times.  If there's anything Brady Hoke has demonstrated, it's that he is going to keep getting back up until he is no longer physically able to.

My guess is that he is a "lifer" and will be the HC at a smaller program in four years.  I wish him well.  It's not his fault that an idiot hired him for his dream job before he was actually qualified to take it.

Hoke set this program back a decade. Not sure why you guys are offering your hand for a sympathy hj.

A decade? Dude re-stabilized our roster, built respectable defensive talent and an up-n-coming oline after being handed poop on both accounts. As long as the next coach is not radically different in philosophy (ie: running 3-3-5 or 3-4, etc) the next coach will have quick success THANKS to Hoke and his belief that this is Michigan fer gawd sakes. Perfect? No. But the roster is in far better shape now then when he took over the program.

given his good relationship with Harbaugh & his a ability to recruit which might translate well to fund-raising with wealthy alumni.

The average mgoblogger would make a better HC than Hoke, other than the whole recruiting thing, until recruiting is done through tweets.

I remember similar post about four years ago in regards to Rich Rod........ look where he is today! I think we would have been better off with RR. At leaSt he got better every year.... Just saying.

Likely though back at Ball State, the AD he butted heads with when he was there is gone, and he's an alum. Or, failing that, a Directional Michigan school. Eastern will probably have chewed up their current coach in a year or two.

I don't see him ending up with a media job.
