Where were you when Poole hit that shot?

Submitted by MMB 82 on

I was at a house-warming party, sitting in a corner watching the game on my phone. Literally screamed and dropped my phone, scared the living shit out of everyone!

I was at my favorite bar in New Orleans, where I live. It's not a sports bar by any means. They played the game on TV for me. When the shot went in, I laughed hysterically for about a minute and then cried. Unbelievable! Michigan could score zero more points the whole tourney and I would be completely happy.

On the couch drinking with friends, none of which really care about what is going on. I went nuts when that shot went in and when they showed the man bun with his hands on his head I flicked off the screen. I was going to re-evaluate my life but we won so fuck it, no need for that.

Great setup with a big tv, propane heater, etc. My buddy called the missed free throws and then pure joy when Poole hit the shot The last 45 secs were all the shoulda woulda coulda’s happening in our favor all at the same time.

About 10 things in a row all had to go perfectly for us . . . from the missed free throws, to the rebound, to the inbound by Livers, to the pass by MAAR, to Poole getting the ball off in time, to the shot going in . . . and every single one of them did!

That kind of shit just doesn't happen to us.

About 8 rows behind him.  It was glorious.  Shout out to the Seton Hall fans for leaving, and the Wichita ushers for not checking seat assignments. :-)

I flew back from Las Vegas early this morning. Did some napping and watched the game in the basement with my wife. My animation woke her up with about two minutes to go. She was ready to console me after MAAR missed the layup and we fouled. Davis regressed to the mean with 2 free throws, and we had a glimmer of hope. When they left no one on the inbounder with the golden arm (livers) my hope grew. When I saw it was Poole, my hope grew. When it went in, I screamed with great joy for a few minutes. My wife smiled, and sympathy S rapidly turned into celebration S!

catching up on DVR because we had a dinner event.  My family was in another room watching live.  They made lots of noise, then joined me in my den.  Between the noise, the fact they stayed near me, and the time/game situation, I had a hunch something special was about to happen.

AND IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

I was at a restaurant with family. When it was clear we were going to lose, I admitted to my uncle that I thought he was bad luck as far as watching Michigan games with me (He was sitting next to me in the stands at MSU 2015, we watched OSU 2018 and were at MSU 2018 together, etc.) I hated to make the comment but that thought was getting too much on my nerves not to spill.

Then after I said that, he reminded me that we watched last years B1G Tournament Semifinal together, and I took it back.

Cue Jordan Poole. I jumped up and screamed, and immediately gave him a huge hug.

What an awesome moment and night! Go Blue!

Watching in my den and then scared the living hell out of my wife and my dog in the next room while I charged around the room screaming and vaguely attempting to mimic Poole's escape routine..

My friend was sitting at the foot of the bed. After the shot, I ran around like a madman and told her this moment happened because she came over...yeah she didn’t buy that bullshit. #StillGotLucky

I watch TV at home using PS Vue. It creates a short lag relative to live TV. I’m watching the inbounds pass with my equally depressed 10 year old son when my phone buzzes. It’s my parents, who live about 600 miles away and would never call after midnight unless it’s an emergency.

I think to myself “either someone has died or something is about to happen”. Glad it was the latter. GO BLUE!!!

Dark Horse bar in Boulder, CO. I saw the two missed free throws and said to a stranger next to me that "if Michigan hits a 3, I'm going to lose my shit"

I lost my shit.

Talking about what to do with these tickets to LA games on Thursday. My boy says we’re going regardless which loosened the mood. We talked about how crazy basketball is while expecting to watch Houston take on UNC at Staples. Then 2 missed free throws, then irrational hope and that 3 seconds matter. Then the inbound pass...time stopped still and magic happened. Poole hit it. I freaked out yelling “this never happens for Michigan!!” over and over. What an amazing finish! Go Blue!!

bars are just too nuts on SPD. Traffic is too nuts and the UM bar is way down and across town in NYC.

So I was at home, which is a brutal way to watch. My friend I usually watch with is down with bronchitis.

My dog lives through every emotion I go through during a game. In the 2nd half, she just decided to head for the eye of the storm. She clambered up on the coach next to me, to ride it out. There was screaming and dog hugging when Poole chucked that in. She was the magic charm!

Panda, I had the Thursday tickets on the elbow of the couch, was getting ready to log into stubhub, to sell them. Instead, I was booking flights 30 seconds later!!!

Provo Utah watching with my wife and 10 year old son while the three younger kids slept up stairs. My son said that was the best M moment he’s ever been a part of. With all the tough losses in football that he’s seen over the last 3 years since he really started taking an interest in watching M games with me, tonight was special

Watched the game at my buddy's house (U-Cinn grad who's also an M fan) in Columbus.  After the game I said good-bye and as I was walking out, we both sang The Victors really loudly.

Here's hoping we woke up some of his neighbors.
