There's a place just across the bridge called the "Little Big House". Everyone says it's a great time. I'm on my way to the U.P. this weekend too. maybe I'll run into you.

i'm from Delta county and i would have to say the best place was the comfort of my own home. nothing much in the way of civilization up there. sorry.

Maloney's

I spend about 12 nights a week up there a year for work. I used to love the Sault for the wild weekends (plenty of visitors from Canada). However, there is not much fun to be had Mondays through Wednesdays (when I am there now).

Yoopers have cool calendars.

The Granada?
Dude. That was scary.
I Lived on 10th street between The Granada and Little Mike's until I was 5.
It's probably been 15 years since I have been to that bar, but it was a dump even by Escanaba standards.

$4 pitchers of beer. Hanky pankys. Slayer and System of a Down on the jukebox. Guaranteed fights nightly. You can drink til well after 2 AM. Always a party afterwards. Plenty of women with questionable morality. Ms. Pac Man, and drug hookups if you are into that.

Well...not any more, but nice to hear the place hasn't changed a bit in 15 years, other than buying one new CD for the jukebox.

I'll be around the Sault area, so I'll have to check out Moloney's. However, this Little Big House that Miss Meeechigan speaks of is intriguing to stop by as well.
Anyway, thanks all.

You probably need to be more specific on whereabouts.
Good luck finding a bar owner or bar gathering in the U.P., on a Saturday night, that is very concerned about college football.
Try contacting the Marquette County Spirit Group.
I don't know if this is current contact info:
[email protected]
That's off of the alumni association site.
I think most bar owners with a little scratch probably still spend it on live music rather than TVs.
I could be wrong. It's been a long time since I lived up there.

I think you'll have to be a little more specific, the UP is like a big place. If you were in Marquette I'd probably recommend JT's Shaft. Plenty of TV's around. I don't know if there will be a Michigan contingent though.

I go to school at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, and I'd definitely agree, the Shaft is a great place, hi-def TV's, good food, good crowd, and last time I was there the owner gave us free drinks and pitchers. Marquette is a ways in though, don't know if you'd want to drive that far.

I think they keep their T.V. just outside Escanaba. Make sure nobody's planting anything in it before you borrow it.
(sorry Yoopers, it was there, had to take. -- fudgie)
(p.s. If you go to Maloney's don't try the Brave Man's Brew)

So I'd like to officially hijack this thread. (yet stay somewhat on topic)
I'll be in Panama City Beach Fl on Saturday, where's a good place to watch the M>Iowa game?
It's all FSU over in the panhandle it seems, that or SEC!!!!
There's no cable hookup yet at my father's place so I need to find a bar by myself with some tolerant Bubbas.

There is a Hooters over by Club La Vela.
If that's too classy for you, then I can offer no further assistance.

I am terribly excited to say that I am going to my first Michigan game this weekend in Iowa City. I am a lifelong (31 yrs) Michigan fan. I paid waaaaay toooo much for the tickets on eBay, but I wasn't going to miss this opportunity as this is the closest Michigan ever plays to where I live. Hopefully this joyous occasion brings a victory to Big Blue. Enjoy the game and GO BLUE!

If you're in the Newberry area, try Timber Charlies. If the game's not on when you get there, ask. They'll put it on for you, guaranteed.
As someone that lived there the past four years until now, all I have to say is ... well, nothing. I salute you, sir.

In a sauna (with a hearty pastie to nibble on).
