Where to watch The Game in Denver?

Submitted by Sten Carlson on
I will be in Denver for Thanksgiving. From the looks of things on social media there is a large and active Michigan Alumni contingent in the Mile High City. Is there any paticular spot where Michigan Men and Women congregate on Saturdays to watch our beloved Wolverines play? If so, I would love to join y'all to cheer our boys on to victory over OSU! Thanks!

I'll never understand it either. It's much faster to Google it then take the time to make a thread and await responses. Thankfully for the OP, this website gets thousands of hits daily, so an answer can be seen fairly quickly, depending on how generous some folks are to perform Google searches for others.

I DID "look it up" but just wanted to double check in case there might be a place that was the real insider place rather than the one that is most hyped. I'm the opposite of lazy here, I'm being proactive and thorough. I'll never understand why you, et. al., care so much.

GFYCS! Why do you care dude? Serious, get some life coaching, do some yoga, meditate, ommmmmmmmmmmmmm! I was wanted, and received, the "local" info -- best place, get their early, drinks, food etc. If you don't like it, don't read no post. Jesus H. fucking Christ ... Get the fuck over yourself!

I'm sick at work two days before my favorite holiday because some woman who sits accross from me came in sick all last week. OSU couldnt even beat god damned MSU without a fucking QB. I'm pretty wound tight today. And now the ever helpful "I'm in the Peruvian Jungle and I would liek to find a UM friendly bar to watch the game" post. MY ALL TIME FAV.

I'd try to get to Lodos somewhat early if you don't want to stand. That area downtown will be busy even at 10 am as most bars down there are alumni to some school or another. Also if it's nice, they will probably show the game on the rooftop as well. Should be packed.

Starting to think these posts are less about finding a place to watch UM vs letting the MGoPublic know your in a particular location/destination. I' am glad we have a place people can get their info though. Also over/under for how many "Where is the UM bar in ____ ?" posts this week? I'll go with over 4.

LoDo's Bar & Grill is where all the transplants will be.  Some old, some young, some paying attention to the game and some networking for a new job.

It can be fun sometimes and can be the last place on the planet to watch a game if you really want to watch closely.

And enjoy your stay in Denver for the weekend but for the love of God, please don't fucking move here.  There is no room left.  Colorado is at Full Capacity.  No Vacancy.

Yeah a lot of people move here, especially from the Midwest, California, Texas etc... but who the fuck are you to tell someone not to move somewhere else? People here act like this city is God's gift to Earth when in all reality it's just a beautiful place with great beer, good looking women and a nice job market. It's great because those things aren't necessarily born and bred in Denver. They're a product of people moving from other places. If someone from say, Detroit or Flint wanted to move here where the opportunity is better, you're going to stand at the gates and say no?

Oh lighten up, francis.

And anyone living in Austin understands.

But you're right, just because my family moved here in 1849 gives me no right no have an opinion on the reckless and unsustainable development and growth we're seeing in just the past three years here.  I wouldn't know about tripling commute times or overwhelmed police departments and increasing crime due to the growth.

Yours is quite clearly a very well-rehearsed defense of why you relocated here so I'm sure this isn't the first time you've heard the conversation.

I have no horse in this race, but what I have found is that people escaping from where they are, often bring the worst of where they're from with them. I grew up in Bellaire MI in the 70's and with the water and the outdoors, people from Chicago and downstate Mi seeking to have what was here have taken the wide open spaces diced them up put up no tresspassing signs, messed up the water, created traffic nightmares, and otherwise "progressed" the much of the nice stuff away.

There are two locations, go to the one in downtown Denver.  Go at least 30 minutes early or you will not get a seat.  Take the light rail if at all possible.  It's a bit of a hike from the nearest station, but public trasport in Denver is decent so you could take a very short cab/uber ride from there.  Do enter the raffle, and scholarship squares.  Do hit up the bloody mary bar.   Do not order food if at all possible.  It's not terrible it's just that after the game there's better places to grab a bite in that general location.

If you do not fear for your personal safety the OSU bar is Hayter's and CO.  and isn't all that far from the Lodos.

Extremely long time creeper of this site (multiple times a day), first time poster.  As already stated, I recommend Lodo's downtown.  It is the official Michigan bar here in Denver.  It is packed with Michigan fans during game days with a guy playing the fight song with a tuba. Guaranteed fun time.
