Where should I watch UM vs. BGSU in Grand Haven?
Anyone out there know any place or places in Grand Haven that would be good bets to catch the game this Saturday? I have to be at a wedding out there tomorrow, and the ceremony starts at 4:00, so I'm thinking I should be able to catch most of the game beforehand, but I don't know the area and would love any suggestions from the MGoCommunity. There is a bar/restaurant called Longnecks right on US 31 that is an old Damons. They have the 4 projection tvs just like Damons, and tvs all around the bar areas as well. There isn't usually a great crowd there, however. Another good place might be the Kirby on Washington. The tvs aren't as big, but it usually has a good crowd around the bar and decent food and drinks. Other options are right up US 31 off of Sternberg rd at BW3 or a good new sports bar Called Booyahs both on Harvey right off of Sternberg. These are both only 5 min away from downtown Grand Haven.

I would agree with these suggestions. The BW3 off of Sternberg always has a large Michigan crowd on game days. Plus there are a gazillion TV's with lots of other games on as well. The waitstaff there is easy on the eyes, too.
This place is less than five minutes from GH.

Actually in spring lake across the drawbridge but should not be far. I love their brown ale.

Old Boys Brewhouse is fantastic, and yes the brown ale is great but so are the rest!!

They actually should have their Oktoberfest out right now which I actually think may be the best beer they serve. Delicious!

Best bet is probably the Boston locations. The Place seems to be the closest to Brookline.

Old Boys (technically in Spring Lake) or The Rosebud downtown GH. I would say The Kirby -- but it's boring as hell inside -- tons of TV's though. I'd use that as a 3rd option.

go the extra mile over to Spring Lake and watch the game at OLD BOYS BREWHOUSE!!! Great food, EXCELLENT craft beer, great staff, etc. They also have a nice large outdoor patio overlooking the canal (weather permitting). Highly recommend!!
I can't recall if they have TV's in the taproom or not, so you might want to call first.

Didn't want to start a new thread, and it's same area of the state. I'll be in Grand Rapids tomorrow, and missing my first home game since tOSU '05. City's got a large alumni base, so I have to imagine it has some decent Michigan bars, but the MGoBoard thread/map didn't list any.
Any ideas? Preferably downtown.

GR has some decent options:
1.) Peppino's on Ionia (Tons of TV's and beer on tap)
2.) GP Sports in Amway on Pearl/Monroe (Not as lively but a good place, get a mix of geography due to it being in a hotel))
3.) My Bar on Ionia (decent TV's, either dead or lively -- never in between)
4.) Z's Sports Bar on Louis Campau (one giant TV, decent food, older crowd)
5.) O'Toole's on Bridge (small but a good place to relax a la BGSU)
6.) The Score (not downtown) on Northland Dr. near Rockford (Glorified Buffalo Wild Wings, tons of beer on tap, good spot but it's not downtown)
FWIW, there aren't many distinct "Michigan Bars" in Grand Rapids. It's pretty wide-open and mostly dominated by a mix of MSU, GVSU, UM, Calvin, Hope, Davenport, Ferris, WMU and CMU grads/students. It's a melting pot area when it comes to alumni.

The Ottawa Tavern at Ottawa and Pearl is also very solid for GR. Good food and cheap beer, lots of screens.
Also, around the corner, Flanagan's has nicely updated and would probably be a good place to watch. I do feel compelled to warn you that the building housing Flanagan's is owned by Matt Steigenga and Mike Peplowski.

Gp sports bar is located inside the Amway Grand. Peppinos is on Ionia.

I knew I could count on all you MGoBoard regulars! Seriously, thanks a ton for the suggestions, they were all very helpful. I have used espn3.com on my laptop, but alas, I do not have a fancy phone, otherwise I would go that route. Some of the places sound perfect, I just have to see how nearby they are to where the wedding is at and how receptive my wife will be to hanging out in a sportsbar/restaurant prior to the wedding. The boat and the ex-girlfriend's place sound tempting, but somehow I think those options would be vetoed. =-)

There are some really good suggestions. I would also recommend Tip A Few Tavern in Grand Haven on the corner of Franklin and Harbor. Their Wet Burrito's are really good and I love adding the Green Spicy sauce.
Buffalo Wild Wings in Muskegon as someone pointed out is also good.

Seconded on the burritos at the Tip-A-Few. I've vacationed in GH for 15 years, and always get mine without the burrito sauce that comes on them. Depending on how hot an experience I want, I hit mine with the red sauce at the table or the special green sauce. I always get a side of jalapenos as well. Definitely some of the best burritos ever.
As far as the game goes, usually I am there before the season starts, but one year I did watch Michigan beat Washington on the last-second FG at the Tip. That was fun, so I'd recommend that for games.

All kinds of good suggestions ITT. Depending on where the wedding/reception are you should be able to find some place close pretty easy.

this is the 3rd or 4th thread i remember seeing that relates to grand haven, and i'm still amazed at how many people on here are apparently from that area or at least familiar with it
