Well, it's winter. Do they even have internet at Del Boca Vista?
Where is Herm?
wow I wish I was popular enough for people to make a thread asking about my whereabouts
Dare to dream.
You're joking, right?
I've been around since this was a blogspot site. The key is going mostly unoticed (unless you have exceptional insight and wit).
YOU GOT IT!
I want that rye, lady!
Only in the newer Phase VII units
NO way that he got banned. He probably tired of the climate of the board the past few months. Hopefully we see him post again soon.
Ahhh. Can't really blame him then.
Politics and "see you next Tuesday" were pretty much all of the posts near the end.
it took me longer than i am proud to admit to figure out what "see you next tuesday" meant
But maybe if we act cool, no one will notice.
Penguin Pineapple is back!? Yay!
HBO's Girl's, man. Always picture the chick with the British accent saying it (Jessa?).
Me too, but I don't understand what is so bad about a band from Bay City..
a new word (backronym) and a new phrase. Not a bad day.
This phrase was used in "The Way Way Back". Underrated movie.
Yes indeed. Herm was banned somewhere around the Akron game, as I recall. He also had become combative to the point of getting personally insulting to other bloggers, even telling a few to do things which are quite impossible physically (I'll be polite here). It was time at that point.
I had no idea that he liked death metal bands from Bay City.
I guess we did have something in common.../s
Not death metal. Deathcore. Learn the difference
I had to google this. Initially thought it was a reference to something political since we vote on Tuesdays...
I'm pretty sure he was at negative a million the last time I saw him. Could be misremembering though.
What about his alter ego Chopblock/Peggy?
Ha, I could only remember his avatar. Oh, Peggy...
I'm pretty sure Chopblocks still around, he still posts, but more infrequently.
Nah I'm pretty sure he's gone for good.
By the way, regarding the whole Herm=ChopBlock thing, see http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/want-out-bolivia-read#comment-2329323
IIRC, he and Peggy were the same person.
That happens quite a bit around here.
It will be happening a lot more now with the point system coming back. Fucking losers.
Wait, I thought you got banned?! You're back? Nice to see you.
Why would I have been banned? Social experiments on online forums are a lot easier than gathering willing groups of participants in the real world. This is as good of a place as any for that sort of thing especially with the high rate of college grads. Btw, even though I barely come here anymore I appreciate you always sticking to what you believe no matter how many detractors you have. That spine of yours is very strong.
Herm was played out about 6 months before he stopped posting/got banned.
I was wondering about this a couple weeks ago. It has been a long time. Wasn't Turd Ferguson his biggest fan too, or am I thinking of someone else? Turd, where are ya?
He was a sham.
Haha, yeah, he and I had a weird, funny exchange or two. I usually enjoyed his shtick and kind of miss him now that I realize he's been away for awhile.
I was just thinking about this the other day- Who's tagline will I read now when I want to call Dave Brandon and stop the uniform changes but don't have his number!?!
I always thought it was fishy for him to post his content followed by the redundant "~Herm" ... as if we couldn't read his username to know who it was
I doubt any old person has ever typed using the tilde symbol (~) before. I didn't even know where that was at.
I use it daily. There's no place like ~, after all.
Sources say that he just resigned as the Texas football coach and no longer has to find things to kill time when "the man" makes him stay at work all day. Hello retirement.
Chopblock = Herm
Herm = Chopblock
After he got outed he stopped posting under the Herm moniker altogether and dialed way down using Chopblock. My guess is there's a third or even a fourth user name he's using now.
For me anyways I didn't like the Herm persona much cause it seemed SO over-the-top but I liked Chopblock a lot.
Lol, I thought it was Mr. Rager.
I've never been known by another moniker on this site. Howeva, I did register several "Ghost of _____" names just to ensure that our friendly neighborhood troll didn't get his hands on them.
He went back to writing books under his pen name Clayton Bigsby.
Let's talk about Ohio State people, with their script Ohio and all that silly Carmen Ohio talk...I can't understand you...go back to your trailer park...BLUE POWER!!!!!
Reincarnated as someone else.
Ever since the Soaring Eagle Casino started 24 hour keno play he hasn't been seen or heard from.
RDT!! What ever happened to that guy?
Anybody check the obituaries?
Come on, I know you are all thinking it.
I think I read that he died while jello wrestling a couple of co-eds at a local fratenity party.
YOU'RE MY BOY HERM!!!
"Herm" had some good thoughts. But any time you repeatedly cross the line, you can expect either Bolivia or banning.
I don't know definitively (and don't need to know, and don't care to know,) but I believe that the mods or proprieters will allow some amount of rudeness, especially if you yourself have been attacked and insulted beyond what is acceptable. The thing is, when a user repeatedly crosses the line, and starts to live there, it becomes more problematic. In the meta post on this topic, Brian mentioned the sense some users have of entitlement. I think this sense of entitlement comes from various places:
- Longevity on the board.
- Solid contributions to the board.
- Having gotten away with rudeness before.
- Being warned by mods, and nothing happening.
The point system returning will allow for so much more board self-policing. I think without the negbang/posbang active to give and take away points, and with the overall tone of lawlessness and rudeness, some users abused the privilege of being on the board. Newbies, esp. trolls, could come on the board with no fear of retribution for what they wrote. Some users who had been around more than four years, with a ton of "points," felt they could say anything with impunity.
The one at play with Herm, I believe, is number 5. There was one time years ago when I wrote something politically incorrect. I was warned by a mod that repeated infractions would result in some kind of sanction. (It actually looked like boilerplate or something generated by an autobot.) Anyway, I have to believe that "Herm" was told to tone it down, and didn't. Because of the shtick at play, maybe the poster known as "Herm" wanted to work the system to see how much it would take to get "Herm" banned. idk. But I can't imagine trying to keep things straight when users have multiple accounts and personalities (a la RDT.)
Herm was a fraud. I'm legitimately over 60 and his schtick was annoying as hell. And that was before he got abusive.
I was 20 when he created it and it annoyed me the whole time.
can I have my points back? Pretty please...
You need legal representation my friend. Profitgoblue will take your case and has worked wonders. Happy clients such as FuManBlue & JimBobTressel can readily attest to his abilities and influence in getting seemingly unpardonable offenses (like yours must have been) reduced significantly or eliminated altogether.
I am already under his representation, but have yet to get my mgopoints back.
Remember when you left MGoBlog? Before all this, before Brian going off his shit? You were gone seven months. Seven months I waited, hoping that you wouldn't come back. Every month, I took a holiday. I went to Florence, there's this cafe, on the banks of the Arno. Every fine evening, I'd sit there and order a Fernet Branca. I had this fantasy, that I would look across the tables and I'd see you there, with a wife and maybe a couple of kids. You wouldn't say anything to me, nor me to you. But we'd both know that you'd made it, that you were happy. I never wanted you to come back to MGoBlog. I always knew there was nothing here for you, except pain and tragedy. And I wanted something more for you than that. I still do.
So Herm is Batman?
If we were to believe Herm was as old as he purported to be, his "couple of kids" would have likely been in their fifties. Is was a funny schtick for awhile, but a young dude pretending to be an old man was almost as annoying as the guy who pretended to be a Kate Upton look alike.
haranguing his fellow jello-eaters at lunch and dinner.
once they get his meds sorted out. That blood pressure medicine can lead to some cray-cray loco behavior.
You know its a slow day on MGoBlog when . . .
A thread asking about a banned poster's whereabouts gets 62+ comments.
Haha I figured I'd get an answer and the thread would be deleted earlier this morning. Board is in that no big games kind of lull. Can't wait for GLI!!
As a personal friend of the real Herm I can state that he is alive but busy with real life. We are working on getting him back don't worry. Herm's fire was fueled by the blog getting pissed about the smallest things like signing Herm at the end of each post and posters getting their panties in a bunch over Dave Brandon posts. Long live Herm.
