Where do you tailgate in Ann Arbor?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Today is the first day I truly felt Fall coming all summer. It's in the mid-60s here in SE MI with a nice breeze.

It's in the air. Being at the Art Fair this past weekend accelerated thoughts of Football season and with camp starting a week from today, it's going to be here very quickly.

Where do you tailgate at? I've been tailgating at Jack's lot on Potter of Main since my first game when I was 9 years old but my family has been tailgating there for nearly 40 years in the back right corner of that lot.

The tailgate has grown in size and scale each year. We did different foods every game last season and that will continue going forward.

Our setup in the back corner is the first one there and last one to leave. Get there when it's dark and leave when it's dark.

All depends on my mood.

Pioneer provides more space between spots so you can actually setup shit and aren't so packed in. Usually somwhere close to Stadium street in that lot.

AAGC has a better party/atmosphere, but you get packed in like hell. Usually always along Stadium there as well.

Always get in around 730/8am

was able to park/tailgate in the same spot on Pauline for over 30 years only stopped when he gave up his season tickets... the house we parked at was one with a double lot so they turned the second lot into a parking lot during football season... what made it even better was that a good chunk of the people that sat around us also parked there...

My tailgate, The Jäger Yearbook, has always been set up on the fairway off state street. We have our standard weekly beer pong tournaments, fowling tournaments, food, and shots of Jäger. Our friends Carlos and Luis bring ice luges starting in October which are filled with rivers of tequila. What we do with the shots specifically is share them with our own tailgate, invite other Michigan fans, and last but not least we search out the opposing fans to share shots with them and have even made great friends with OSU fans who came to my wedding.

I was 12th in line at the portapotty, watching young ruffians thow flag patterns at Allmendinger.  I belive it was Wisky, 2008.   A particularly loudmouthed young man stretched out for a deep ball, and landed chest-square on a pile of fresh black lab shit.  Belt to forehead, covered.

I lol'd.

AAA parking lot, 30 second walk from the northwest gates. I love the proximity, but I'm kind of missing the atmosphere of the golf course.

Edit: HOLY crap, I just realized that your tailgate is right next to mine, WD. If a creepy guy with a mustache and a mullet introduces himself to you this year, it'll be me. I have no choice but to stop by sometime. I'll bring some libation to ease the introduction.

At WD's tailgate.

(In all seriousness, I'll bring my own beer and a $20 MDen Gift Card if I get to a game this year). I've always been against sharing personal info or joining up at a MGoTailgate...I feel like it would be weird, but you've broken me WD, you've broken me.

In all reality, most of us are real human beings, and we all share the same passion. I'd rather not reveal my identity to the whole world but if I ran into WD or any other famous (or infamous) poster I'd probably introduce myself by both of my names and shake hands.

I tailgated on the MGoPatio on Berkley Avenue (across the street from the stadium) once as part of an all day birthday party for the 2011 Minnesota game. It was under construction at the time, didn't look as amazing as it does now but I still enjoyed it. That would be my idea of the perfect birthday party...if my birthday wasn't in February. Also tailgated on Elbel Field once but that was before they put field turf in and cars are no longer allowed to park there.

The church on 7th. It's a beautiful place, it's an easy escape from town, and the atmosphere is great.

327 East Hoover (across from Elbel Field and just down from Revelli Hall)

Very good Michigan craft beers, you can follow the band into the game. Excellent experience.

I've evolved my tailgate to this location as it is an important cause for me.

Also, good times.

Close to the Stadium.  I have secret routes in and out.  Or I get drunk and hang for a couple hours if the timing's wrong.  Same cast every year.  Wouldn't change it.
