Where Are They Now: Kellen Jones - Class of 2011

Submitted by MJ14 on

I just got word that Kellen Jones has transferred to finish his senior season. Apparently it is a few weeks old news, but I searched and didn't see any threads about it. Kellen Jones originally committed to play football for the University of Michigan. He even enrolled and was ready to go. As most of you know, he transferred on August 2nd the same year that he enrolled at Michigan. He barely lasted a month.

He ended up at Oklahoma. He lasted at Oklahoma for a single year, before transferring to Clemson. He lasted at Clemson for a few years, before transferring yet again. This time he has landed back in the Big Ten: http://www.buckys5thquarter.com/2015/7/31/9078705/kellen-jones-transfer…

He has his degree, so he will play his final season for the Wiscon Badgers. He was always one of those guys that I wondered what could have been.

I thought you could only be a two-time four year transfer. Meaning he could only play at two four-year schools...Usually you don't have eligibility if you transfer to a third school.  I thought it was an NCAA rule. It's been awhile since I was a coach though.

I still remember the flurry of threads around the time he left in late July of 2011, and to my recollection, the actual reasons were never fully explained - and at this point, they don't really need to be. He landed on his feet and has been productive in each place he has been. Hopefully, he does well at Wisconsin.

Pretty cool to hear. I'll be watching for him in a Badger uniform. I was expecting to read that he transferred down to a smaller school, so this makes me think he might actually have a good chance at some playing time (and may be decent). Hope that's the case.
