When will we hire a DC?

While I have been a huge supporter of Hoke, I cannot for the life of me understand by he has not hired a DC yet.  I fully understand the need to not rush the decision - look at how poorly RR's defensive choices turned out - but at the same time, there are less than 2 weeks until signing day.   I can't help but believe that if we have a staff in place, we could make a late run at some kids that hadn't previously considered us.

Same concern regarding QB coaches.  With only Denard and Devin on the roster (until and unless Tate returns), it wouldn't hurt for us to pick up another QB in this class - it's not like we don't have the room.  By my count, we still have 3 spots open - DC, QB and D-line coach. 

When can we expect to have the staff filled out, and does anyone have any realistic thoughts as to who might fill out these spots?  I had heard rumblings about Loeffler for QB coach, but nothing recent.

Just kidding. It does present the question of what precisely the hold up is? Is there someone Coach Hoke wanted he couldn't get? someone else playing hard to get? Perhaps someone still coaching in the NFL? All revealed in time of course but I am curious about the hold up.

If that's the case, they've already made their decision but are first taking time to speak to other possible candidates to let them know that they will not be getting an offer.  Thus the reason for the delay . . .

Oh no, Brandon would not say that at all.  He'd make it seem like he was communicating an offer without actually doing so in order to be able to publicly state that he never offered _____ the DC job and, thus, was never turned down.

Soon but not soon enough. There are several being rumored, Mattison (sp?) and Austin, I believe. But a DC needs to be named soon because we sure as hell are not helping ourselves here. I am not one to jump off the nearest tall building, but we need some things to happen over the next couple weeks to have a decent recruiting class this year and getting a DC is one of them.

I agree we could definitely use a QB in this class.  Linement, both offensive and defensive, would also be a huge plus.  And kicker, wow that would be awesome wouldn't it?  I'm still holding on to Hop(k)e that we can get it done by signing day though.

...the next few days, I'd say a Jon Hoke hire may be in the offing.

It would seem that if it's Mattison (hot seat at Bal'more) or Austin, negotiations shouldn't be that difficult to complete. So, if nothing is what we hear through the end of the week, it's for a reason.

I have been in favor of hiring Hoke over every mentioned candidate not named Harbaugh since late November.  I have commented as such on this message board and others. 

Basically, all that I was trying to convey is that I am "all in" for Hoke, so my criticism regarding his time delay in hiring a staff shouldn't be considered the criticisms of another person who is just unhappy with Hoke and looking for reasons to gripe.
