When do I get my book?

Submitted by TampaJake on

So, was Kickstarter a scam or what?

Delivery date?

On it's way via TacoPants Express?

Some Ohio guy can't find my address?

What gives?

Also, I think Brian should come down to the Tampa Bay UofM Club and party and deliver the book and party.

I suppose I am just an asshat then.

It mentions June 30 as a "Launch Party", where does that post say the mag ships on June 30?  June 30 is a SAT, it's shipping on Saturday? AND he mentions a "glitch" and it slipped two weeks...

The other e-mails mention nothing of the ship date.

Is the release party at UPS?  So when you guys show up at the party, your taping boxes and shipping?

Ok Cool, I had no idea it was the shipping party and not an event to celebrate the release, wow, who knew?

I am certain to get flamed...LSA '92, Commanded men in combat (twice), over 3,500 hours in rotor wing and fixed wing aircraft (non-combat), now lead a business division here at the hospital and I have never got this much shit ever, ever!  Not even from my gangster, punk-ass privates in my company back in the day.

Next post in 2014, I think...or maybe never, thanks for making an old ass alum welcome in "your" blog.

I wish I was going to the party just to have a chat with you.

You made a post without checking for an answer, and did it in a demanding way like you were owed something. People gave you crap over it. Cry me a river. So you respond with maybe true claims (RDT, thanks for the trust level!) like you're immune to criticism, and follow it up with veiled racism and not so thinly veiled threats. How can we believe you? You're obviously not in Venice, FL if you're at he hospital and thinking of coming to the party. Save the chest thumping Internet tough guy act. Because the whining about being picked on in a message board probably wouldn't impress your co-workers or fellow military men, and making threats because you can't respond with words doesn't impress anyone.

So I:

* try to help you (albeit with some sarcasm because, well, the answer to this question has been addressed on the front page multiple times) by posting three different links for you,

* then respectfully give you an 'out' in my second reply where I said you must've not seen the email or something,

* and then try to lighten the mood after you passive-aggressively respond to my joke about the meaning of "release party"

and you all of sudden start threatening me and try to shame me because you're an alum and a veteran?  Further, I don't think you would've gotten so many sarcastic replies if you hadn't made your OP so demanding -- I understand that you meant it to be a little humorous, but if you dish it out, you should take it.

I respect fellow alums, thank you for your service, and I'm sure that you're making much more money than me now, but that was uncalled for.   Finally, I don't know what you meant by "your blog", but if you were referring to me, I'd just like to clarify that I'm just a random user -- don't let your distaste of me affect your view of the blog.

I'm guessing he does not make more than you.  Anyone who throws out unsubstantiable claims that he heads up the business department of a hospital on a random message board spat does not have the common sense needed to run a gas station.

Plus, since I own the hospital and six more just like it, I totally make more than him anyway...

Wasn't you per se.  I asked perhaps stupidly about the mag's ship date, which we still don't have by the way.  Then all this shit ... the reason for the alum/Army stuff was I thought incorrectly that posters/users/contributors here would give the benefit of the doubt (until identified as a phony or something) and it was perhaps a lame attempt to ask passively.."why all the hate"?

So, whatever...I did learn one thing..a 47 year old Alum/veteran/middle manager can in no way be cool, hip, funny or otherwise engaging on the internet.

I got flamed last year when I posted about Shane Morris after seeing him in person at the IMG 7on7...so..again, I lost, I'm heading back to reading and never posting.

"When do I get my book?" seems kinda demanding. "So was Kickstarter a scam?" might be sarcasm fail, but it makes for a heck of a one-two punch.  Even if you didn't get the emails everyone else did, missed all of post references on the blog, and failed to know how to use a search function, you still could have worded it differently. (And I know everyone is in a rush and loves it...but has it ever shipped in early June before? Is it really that "late"?)

Maybe you need to read over what you write before you write it....because things like "I wish I was going to the party just to have a chat with you." don't seem "passive" at all. And I'm not sure who else he was supposed to think it was directed at. Your age is an excuse. There are more people on here closer to your age, and older, than you think. I read it...didn't think it was a well-worded post, but pretty much ignored it till you started throwing threats around.

And if you STILL really don't know when the magazine is coming out, consider the front page of the blog right now, I don't think you've been reading it to go back to reading it.

(Since you think you're punishing us by taking down your avatar-)

First of all, it's a magazine, not a book. Secondly, if you had been reading the site, you would know that they are being shipped this week and you will receive it by the end of the month. I don't believe it is the end of the month yet, so stop whining.

At the end of the Kickstarter, there was a post that mentioned emails going out at some point to confirm addresses and whatnot, was there a change of plans, or did I miss it? If it's not too late I'd prefer to have mine shipped to a different address than Amazon has on record for me.

...and because I can, I now know that Brian needed all of us to confirm our delivery addresses.  Thanks to the info passed along in this thread, I dug through old unread emails,  completed the address confirmation and will now chain myself to my mailbox as I eagerly await delivery of HTTV2012.

As I plan on making myself comfortable out there while waiting, (and of course, both CAN'T and WON'T give up on my vigil until delivery), would anybody be so kind as to stop by and make sure I don't run out of beer in the cooler next to me?  I may even share one with anyone who can be of assistance...

I received two or three different emails about the kickstarter campaign and I was expecting the end of Juneish as the mail/delivery time frame. The thought never occurred to me to put a dickish post on mgoblog about it. Have a little patience man, it's not like there's an enormous army of people putting this together and the small army that did put it together are pouring their blood sweat and tears into it.

I for one am glad it's been this long, b ball season just got over and I hate hate hate pro baseball so I'll need something to fill some of the void.

Hail bitches!

Common guys - the OP asked a legit question and just worded it poorly that's all. Written properly his query would not have been received so negatively by the board.  What he SHOULD HAVE written was:

"WHEN DO I GET MY FUCKING BOOK?"
