When Denard went down, a simile came to mind.

Submitted by Firstbase on

As in, "Denard being tackled is like..."

I couldn't help but think when Denard was tackled and left the game, I thought how it must be like the average Joe jumping out of a moving car at 20 mph.

My advice:  Drive safe, Denard!

Oh... and since you're sometimes hit while moving at Dodge Charger-like speed, maybe ask the equipment manager to install air bags in your uni.

I agree with everybody else on here that Denard is fine to take the number of hits that the coaches feel safe letting him take.  It only takes one, though, as those of us old enough to remember Bo and his big bad hip can attest.  Keep doing things to keep the karma positive.

Also, the word "simile" looks a bit too close to "smile" for comfort.  Maybe "metaphor" would be the way to go, as in "Even the thought of Denard being injured is a cruel, non-funny dong punch."

I must be having a tough time waking up because I read smile and didn't get the brain to correct it until I read your post. I looked back over on the right and realized "simile" it is.

I was lucky enough to score (translation: was given) tix in the new club seats.   I was on the opposite side, so we didn't even notice that he didn't get up (too busy high-fiving the big run), then all of sudden there's DG7 running out there.    Oh boy.     Things worked out in the end.

It was tremendous.  I've got about 30 years worth of cramming into the metal benches with 100,000 others.    Also, I was just given my ticket on the way to the gate, so it didn't even cross my mind that we were headed to the club level.      Elevator up, great concourse, big clean bathrooms, great food, comfortable seats, and shielded from weather elements that might be an issue on other Saturdays.     If someone can afford to watch games like this (I can't), I highly recommend it.

I was in denial when it happened.  "Ahh, it's nothing, just a bruise."  Then he laid there and continued to lay there and then it was, "He just got the wind knocked out of him".  Then as he still continued to lay there, I almost threw up.

Even if D Rob ends up hurt and misses a game in the future there is no reason why we can't win. We are deeper at QB than anyone in the nation. Tate has had great in-game experience and you can tell everything has come together for him. Tate of this year wouldn't lose to Sparty. And Devin Gardner is Mr. Heisman 2013 or '14, nuff said there. I say let Denard run like the wind just try to avoid the tackles that are a sure thing.

Although our backups are good players, there is only one #16.    A guy with a 70% passing percentage who leads the entire nation in rushing....  a video game character.    Those type of players come around only ONCE IN A LIFETIME and what they do for the image of the University..... what they do for recruiting and building a program.... lasts beyond a game or even a season.

It is imperative that we keep Denard healthy.    And any notion of "oh well, run him into ground because if he gets injured we have great backups waiting in the wings" is hubris devoid of perspective.   Perspective of Denard means towards this season but more importantly, what Denard means to this program for the years (possibly even decade) that follows.

I will never attempt to read a thread heading without my glasses ever again. I was getting ready to neg you until I opened the thread and saw the larger font. I just couldn't understand why it would bring a smile to your mind. God I hate getting old.

My dog decided to jump out of a car moving around 30 mph. She  scraped up her chin pretty badly and was sore the next day, but she was all better within a week.
