What's your most treasured piece of sports memorabilia? Father's day edition

Mine is a baseball signed by every member of the 1968 Detroit Tigers.  My late father was a dentist who happened to have Jim Price as a patient.  My dad got Jim to get every player and coach's autograph on the ball sometime near the end of the season and gave it to me on my ninth birthday.  The names are a bit faded (after all it's 42 years old) but you can still clearly make them out although Earl Wilson's and Joe Sparma's are a bit faded.

I've had several offers to sell it but no way in hell I am ever parting with that ball. I was thinking about my dad today (he passed two years ago) and what a very cool gift that was.

What's yours?

PS: I also have a program from a game he took me to the next year agains the Red Sox.  It was a doubleheader and I kept score during the game.  The coolest thing about it is the full page ad for 1969 GTO Judge on the back cover!

A fair bit of Gordie Howe

A fair bit of Gordie Howe stuff, including a painting signed by him. I also have a jersey I wore in Mites signed by basically everyone on the 1997 Blackhawks.

Mine is

Mine is a game used Terrelle Pryor Jersey ... bought it at a tattoo shop in Columbus .... Okay to be serious ... mine is a ball autographed by the 1986 Tiger Team. When I was 8 I hit by a car and was in a coma. It was a 50/50 chance of survival. I was a Tigers fan at that young age, and my dad worked with a guy who was friends with one of the players. He was able to get Sparky Anderson up to Childrens hospital, and he brought the ball to me. I would never sell it, as it means so much to me.

My first Michigan game was with my dad. It was a basketball game in Hawaii vs North Carolina. Rose hit a shot at the buzzer to win the game..afterwards I was able to get all the members of the fab 5s autographs on my hat.

A 100 Dollar Check

My dad has a $100 check, made out to cash, signed by Ty Cobb. It's framed with a couple of pictures of Ty Cobb. I don't know why he signed a check, but I think it's really really cool. My dad has it hanging in his basement.

I have a Bo Schembechler

I have a Bo Schembechler autographed panoramic of Michigan Stadium. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I also have a program and ticket stubs from the national championship in 97. I'd have to go with the panoramic though as my number 1.

Picture of me on the ice with Wayne Gretzky when I'm 9 years old. He told me to mail him the picture and he would sign it and mail it back. Obviously my parents were skeptical. But within a month I got it in the mail framed with a hand written note. He's the man.

OT ondre pipkens

OT: http://michigan.scout.com/2/1080803.html saw this article about recruits and their fathers and ondre says some pretty intresting stuff about wanting to go visit michigan badly and that a decision is lurking

The process might end a little sooner than I expected. I can't wait to get up to Michigan to visit.

Hmm. I had two...

I had two that I held onto for a while.  One got a super tiny pinhole leak and got Pepsi all over my desk at work.  Then I threw the other one away.  Oops.

LT autographed pic and Radio

I got an autographed picture of Lawrence Taylor from my dad as well as a Derek Jeter rookie card.  My dad's from Holland, Michigan and I was born in raised in NJ, so I'm a Michigan fan for football and basketball but a NJ/NY fan for all pro teams.

Another more sentimental piece is my Dad's old transistor radio that he used to listen to Tigers games on.  A couple years ago he was going to get rid of the old thing but I grabbed it from his hands before he could throw it away.

pocket knife

When I was a kid, I was at a cub scout camp, and Ted Williams, the Splendid Splinter himself, was giving a fishing demonstrated. When he needed to use a pocket knife, I was the first to get mine out. Naturally, I kept that knife as a treasured possession to this day.

The Bad Boys

I have an autographed basketball of the entire 1989 Detroit Pistons team. It even has Chuck Daly's signature on it. Gotta love the Bad Boys. My best friend gave it to me as part of my wedding present, after years of trying to talk him into selling it to me.

I have some autographed Red

I have some autographed Red Wings things but the way some things are I have no idea if they are authentic or not.  Although it's not really memorabilia, I would have to say the picture I took of Denard in the UConn game last year is up there.

tie between Mickey Mantle

tie between Mickey Mantle autograph when I met him as a kid and "the banner"...during the '97 cup finals the wings had a 10ft or so wide banner between the upper and lower bowl that featured the logo in clouds and said hockey heaven.  As game 4 was ending with the help from those next to me I removed it and took it.  That summer I got it signed by every player and coach sub vlad.  Best part is Ward saw it and said it looked familiar and asked where I got it and said his company made it and jokingly said I guess you don't want to return it.  Only thing that sucks is takes up lots of wall space.

Gayle Sayers and Michael Jordan

I grew up a huge Jordan fan and had the chance as a middle schooler to follow him around a golf course once on a private club near my hometown.  He signed a picture for me when he finished.  With that said, I have had a couple of opportunities to actually play golf with Gayle Sayers and have a signed score card from the first time we played.  He played in the NFL before I was born, but I have seen plenty of film on him.  Because I actually got to play with him and have a beer with him after the round, that is definitely a bigger memory for me.

I have a few Michigan

I have a few Michigan football jerseys but my favorite would most likely be a 2005 Game Issued Lamarr Woodley Alamo Bowl jersey.  He was one of my favorite players in college and has turned out to be a stud in the NFL.

I have a wind up drag car my

I have a wind up drag car my grandfather got me on the day I was born in 1964.  My parents never let me play with it when I was a kid so its still in mint shape even have the box it came in.  I also have a picture (taken by my wife's cousin, he's a professional photographer) of the first pitch at Comerica park signed by the pitcher.  It's cool because you can see the entire scoreboard including the clock.

Manningham and Hart are my two favorite players in college football. The first game I ever saw on TV they both scored. I was in middle school then so it was cool as hell. That game along with NCAA 2008 has made me love those guys.

2 things: A Kirby Puckett

2 things: A Kirby Puckett poster hardly anyone would have because it was never for sale. It was a promo poster made by Nike that my sister harrassed a poor store manager for until he gave it to her. And an autographed Kirby rookie card my friend gave me when he was flat broke because he knew Kirby had been my hero. Now I would have to say my chocolate lab who is named Kirby.

Winged helmet

Real helmet I won last year at the Women's Football Academy for having raised the third highest amount of money. Funny thing was, the first and second place winners chose other prizes like jewelry and a gift certificate. I had wanted the helmet the whole time and thought in third place, I didn't stand a chance. It has a little red paint on it and I'm hoping it's from a tSIO helmet.

Picture of me with Denard a close second.

Edit: Just realized this is a Father's Day version. Oops.

hard to choose between these two

I have a first edition of Fielding H. Yost's book on football. It's full of play diagrams, pretty cool.

I also have a football autographed by Rob Lytle, One of my all time favorite players.

My Dad was born in Flint. He

My Dad was born in Flint. He and his mother moved to Tennessee when he was 12. His dad lived in Detroit for a while though. My dad has a hat he bought from old Tiger Stadium (I dont know what it was called), the last day he lived in Michigan with his dad. Its not signed by anyone but my dad will treat it like it is to this day.

Glen Rice

I have a signed authentic 1989 Glen Rice jersey that I got from a family friend.  I hear the jersey itself is very rare so having a signed one makes it that much better!

Bo Schembechler autograph

My Dad ran into Bo Schembechler several years ago at the Detroit airport.  He didn't have anything with him except for a piece of paper to get him to sign, but he got him to sign it to me.  I remember when my Dad got home and gave it to me (I was probably about 10).  Even then, I was the biggest Michigan fan and I knew all about Bo, but I couldn't believe it.  I have that piece of paper framed and wouldn't give it up for anything.

Also, my uncle has a baseball with about 10-15 players' signatures from the '68 Tigers on it.  He's still working on collecting more of the players' signatures when they do public signings, etc.

a picture of my grandfather as a cheerleader

at Ypsi Normal Teacher's College. He was such a stern, even angry guy when we were kids but he has this crazy look of pleasure on his face in the photo, convinced me that he must have been fun at some point in his life. He volunteered for WWI and became famous for his ferocity (they called him Killer K. . .), came back utterly changed. Very determined and successful guy, but not always so fun to be around.

For a long time I also dragged around the punching bag my father bought me when I got beaten up once at school. He taught me how to hold my fists, and although I didn't become any good at it, it helped me imagine standing up for myself--showing I was willing to fight. I never got beat up again.

My father isn't much of a sports collector, but I have one of Shawn Hunwick's goalie sticks, which he signed for me before the team left for the Frozen Four. I wanted to get my hockey flag signed by the team in St. Paul, but stupid AT&T wouldn't let them sign anything besides the posters with the FF logo.

I also have a 50s-era Michigan pennant. No signatures, but my grandfather had it while he was in school and gave it to me when I was little. I've kept it with me wherever I've lived since, and it's hanging in my cubicle right now.

1984 Tigers stubs...

I have stubs from the division clincher, the pennant clincher and the series winner from "84.  My going to those 3 games was remarkably lucky.  Also a Bo autograph on the 1980 football bust program and a Rick Leach autographed photo (B and W) from his Soph or Jr. year.

Soccer Ball

My favorite is a mini soccer ball my son (5 yrs old) had signed by Sergio Garcia, Alvaro Quiros & Padrig Harrington at a soccer game they all played/attended before the TPC this year. it was great seeing the intereaction with the players and my son. Mine would be a series of autographs I got on a spring training tour i took witha  friend when I was in 7th grade. Having most of the Reds, Red Sox, Astros, Yankees sign my autograph book & game programs were great.

I have Mike Hart's mouth

I have Mike Hart's mouth guard from the 2007 Spring Game. It's the most awesome (but kinda gross) thing I have. I also have a shirt signed by him. I also got a football signed by Tony Dungy at the Colts' preseason camp a couple years back.

Desmond and Derrick and ...

I have an official UM game ball that several years later I got Desmond Howard to sign.

I also have one of the gloves Derrick Alexander wore in the 1993 Rose Bowl win over Washington.

Also, a Chris Webber autographed basketball.  (It was cooler when I got it...)
