What's involved in moving players to diff positions

Note: I am trying to learn some HTML basics, so this post may end up looking crummy. We all have to learn sometime.

In a post on recruiting, Dior [Mathis] gave very positive comments on his experience visiting this weekend, which is great.

It sounds as if Dior is strongly considering Michigan because they are thin in the secondary, with a virtually non-exisitent depth chart, opening the door for early playing time. PT is always an attraction.

However, Dior said that they have moved RB/WR over to the secondary, and would move them back next year. I looked back at the depth chart for the secondary, and the only one clearly moved there was Teric Jones, a fellow Technician. Is there anyone else? Thomas Gordan is raw at Safety, but looks like he was recruited as a safety, not on offense, where he played at Cass Tech.

My question is whether or not Jones is better off in the secondary or on offense. Is it fair to him to move him (because of the depth issues) and then move him back? It would seem he would then be weak in two positions.

Regarding the secondary, it is fascinating to see the Cass Tech representation.

Regarding secondary depth and recruiting, I would assume we would gladly welcome Cullen Christian, Brandon Ifill, Dior Mathis, and Adrian Witty next year. Do we then move JT Floyd to Safety, or encourage him to look for other options elsewhere, or be buried on the depth chart? I would assume with Witty that since he isn't coming this year, that creates one extra space for him in next year's class . . . is this logic correct?

Appreciate the help. Tried it before, but with "bold" instead of "b." I don't think I'll go wild, but occasional bold or italics can help readability of posts.

I don't think we should automatically dismiss Floyd from cornerback. I know he didn't play well, but he's a redshirt freshman and it was his first college game ever. I thought he should be a safety coming out of high school, too, but you don't have to be lightning fast to be a decent college corner.

Anyway, yes, it would be slightly unfair to move Teric Jones from SR to CB and then back to SR. However, there are two mitigating factors:

1) It's best for the team.

2) Jones was going to be buried on the depth chart at SR behind Odoms, Grady, Roundtree, and perhaps Terrence Robinson and Jeremy Gallon.

Brandon Ifill is a safety. He plays like a safety, and Michigan is recruiting him as a safety. He doesn't really have anything to do with the cornerback depth.

Regarding Floyd, I hope he does well. But I don't know how much you can coach speed, and if he doesn't have it, he is limited.

Regarding Jones and what is best for the team, your comments make sense. I suppose that some players have to almost have a "Rudy" mentality, willing to be part of the Michigan team, and rarely if ever see the field. If they really want to play, sometimes, they may have to move to a MAC or DII level team.
