Submitted by CaliWolverine78 on

If i had to choose one moment in time? I dont think i could. From the game changing defenses, to watching Bo patrol the sidelines....There are just too many for me personally to choose..what are your thoughts out there?

Both the '97 National Championship in football, and the '89 National Championship in hoops rank very high on the list for me. However I think my favorite was the Capital One Bowl win over the Fighting Tebow's. Lloyd's last game was an absolute thing of beauty, and watching him go out on top brought tears to my eyes.

The final drive of the 1994 Notre Dame game was some of the best play calling and execution Ive ever seen from a Michigan team. The 97 OSU game was just everything coming together for hands down the best team in the nation that year. I would have loved to see us beat the shit out of Nebraska and there illegal kickers in every aspect of the game.

I attended the Rose Bowl to see them beat Wash St and was in Cincy to see Brenden Morrison score that OT goal to win the National Championship.
I've had season tickets to football since 92 so you can imagine the list.

Going for 313 yards against Ohio State in 1995. And watching John Cooper pace the sidelines with a look of complete bewilderment on his face. Ah, Johnny, we hardly knew ye! Come back! The OSU sideline needs a man like you.

Granted it really meant nothing to the rest of the season but that was an amazing game to have attended. The massive swing from the depths of depression at the half as Wisconsin fans were already talking smack and claiming victory to the amazing comeback and last minute failed 2-pt conversion made it even more incredible and euphoric.

I had a buddy visiting and it was his first trip to the Big House (he is a huge OU fan and loves talking up Norman). By the end of it he was jumping around like all the other Michigan fans (we were in the student section) going absolutely ape. To this day he still says that was the best game he had ever been to.

A bright spot in an otherwise dreadful season, but at least there was something positive to remember.

The Catch was my Michigan moment as well, this play happened directly in front of me (row 33 or so) my senior year of High School, and I still can't believe it...I have been going to games since Ali Haji-Sheikh was the kicker (funny thats all I remember about my first game, I think because his name was so unusual) but nothing to this date has struck me quite as profoundly as seeing Michigan go deep on fourth and one versus the oh so hated Irish and convert.

That I ever saw in person? Bobbie Williams and MSU getting OWNED in 2002 in the Big House. That was justice and a heck of a good time.

A close second would be my first tailgate. I was a kid, back in 82. After that every tailgate.

...1985 Michigan - Ohio State. In my mind's eye, I still see Kolesar streaking down the sideline running right toward me in the student section.

Go to 9:15. The replay shows the play better than the live action. Neither camera caught the best view (IME), mine.

The first is obviously the Rose Bowl win back in '98.

However, I have to say that I look back very fondly on the bowl game victory against Florida from a couple years ago. It was Lloyd Carr's last game, it was against the defending national champs, and our offense was ridiculously high-powered. Remember the screen pass to Jake Long? Remember the screen pass to Carson Butler? Remember Morgan Trent hunting down Percy Harvin? Remember Obi Ezeh crushing Tebow on a blitz? Remember how fast and athletic Manningham and Arrington looked? That entire game I was like, "Who is this team and what did they do with Mike Debord?" But I was giddy the entire time, because I figured that was the high-octane offense we'd be getting once Rodriguez took over. Hopefully that kicks in this year.

I would say the 2004 game against Michigan State or the 2008 Capital One Bowl against Florida. Two games I can still vividly remember watching like it was yesterday.

In person: Penn State in 2005. That was the year the AD created a grad student section on the opposite endzone from the undergrads. I had row 3 seats. Henne's game winning pass to Mario occurred in that endzone. My fiancee, now wife, couldn't even bare to watch the play. She closed her eyes and the next thing she saw was everyone going nuts. That was the loudest I have heard Michigan Stadium before the renovations.

I was 10 and very impressionable. Robinson hitting those free throws....what a game. That is my favorite and a close second was LC's last game. Great finish to a great career.

Coming from down 14-3 at the half to beat USC in Pasadena- Bo's best Rose Bowl win and a complete catharsis- even better than the '98 RB. I have my ticket mounted in lucite, sitting on my desk.

Other than big moments suchs 98 Rose Bowl, 69 OSU, 89 BB Championship game and AC catch against Indiana there are few moments that are memorable to me.
The 1971 OSU game, I do think everyone stood from the middle of the third quarter to the end of the game. I also believe that was the loudest crowd I have ever heard in the stadium.

The 1974 UM vs Purdue basketball game, in the days when the dunk was not allowed Michigan hit 17 of 18 shots in the first half. The only miss was an uncontested layup by C J Kupec.

The 1977 NCAA Hockey Championship game versus Wisconsin, even though we lost. A great atmosphere at " the old red barn", Olympia for you youngsters, UM tying the game in the last seconds and then four overtimes to decide it, an amazing game.

Probably the most exciting hockey game I've ever seen. Michigan had two goals waved off (one was the right call, the other, not so much), and ended up coming from behind to win. Also, the 1994 and 2006 ND games were pretty sweet.

Michigan Softball winning the NCAA championship on a walk-off homerun against UCLA. My other favorite is Lloyd Carr's last game and how he got carried off after the game.

My experiences really only date back to 2004, so I would have to go with this past season's win over ND. The game was so up and down, and it just felt awesome to get a win over ND after our awful 2008 season. It instilled some hope and positive feelings about the team, even though the season ended up not amounting to anything.

Also, that day was just fun. Some friends from out of state came back for the game and we had a blast tailgating and partying afterwards. Now if only every game could be like this...

"One man! . . .Goodbye!. . .Hello, Heisman!"
That's just through the magic of YouTube, though; I don't remember that moment at all, and my first Michigan football watching experience wasn't until 1997. Good year to start watching.
I started following the team more when Hart and Henne came in, and Hart probably created many of my favorite moments. One of them was when he got tackled along the MSU sideline after a long run and jumped up, jawing all over the place. It just summed him up so perfectly.
Other than that, the best, best memory I have is almost definitely Braylon vs. MSU. Because of that game, I find it impossible to leave any game. "This looks bad, but remember MSU?"

In person:
The 2008 Capital One bowl - I was in the MMB and got the gator chomp from every fan all week. Lloyd getting carried off will be one of those images that will be with me for the rest of my life.

The Duke game in 2008 at Crisler - Just awesome to see Michigan Basketball jump onto the big stage. The loudest I have ever heard Crisler Arena.

On TV
97 OSU game - I was 10 at the time and didn't really understand how you won the Heisman. So I asked my dad what Woodson had to do against OSU to win it ... He said, "I think he'll need a pick and a return for a TD." ... Needless to say both happened and I thought my dad was a genius.

Anthony Carter not a moment but he was a breakthrough Florida player for Michigan, Tyrone Wheatly in the Rose Bowl can't remember how many yards but he was a man among boys in that game, Desmonds Heisman pose was awesome and his end zone dive, Woodsons one handed interception, and T Biakabatuka against OSU, those were magical moments for me.

Standing in the lights of the stadium....the only time I've ever felt truly, blissfully satisfied, in my life. I've had moments as happy....but the calm that yes, finally, we did it...it was surreal.

But OSU '97 was a lot more YEEEEEAAAAHHHHHHH!!! exciting. I've never been louder for 4 hours than that game. The Bowl was more "we CAN'T screw this up now...I couldn't take it".
