What is your 2013 Jersey?

Submitted by preed1 on

What is your 2013 Jersey that you will be wearing this year?  Number, Brand, Authentic, Replica, Name?  Or will you be wearing the season shirt?  I am currently in the market because I have dropped 130 lbs and my #2 woodson jersey no longer fits and is framed in my living room.

I'm similar, as I only wear jerseys on game day. The Buckeye thing to do, as someone so ridiculously compared us to, is to wear jerseys year round.

I also wear mine that actually fit and are not XL or bigger like most people. I wear mediums.

I'm gonna wear the same long sleeve Michigan basketball maize shirt that brought us wins in 2009, 2010, 2011 against ND. I went to the game last year in south bend, but left my shirt. Never again.

I hate to admit it, but I think I'm too old at this point to wear a jersey. I bought a Denard jersey 2 years ago (after a Breaston and Forcier...err...Avery jersey) and I will still wear it proudly, but I wanted to buy a #1 jersey as soon as someone donned it. Not sure if that's socially ok now that I'm 27.
I guess what I'm hoping for is that everyone on the board will tell me to rock it with pride. Thanks in advance.

I am 10 years older than you, and I wear my jerseys with pride. My kids love when I do because they get to dress like dad when we go out for the day.

Just to be safe, i just ran yur question by my wife. She is actually really into fashion and she says that it is absolutely silly to think that there is an age where wearing a jersey becomes inappropriate. There's your answer.

This is one of the rare times I agree with Rager.  The whole "I don't do _____ because I'm a grown man" is really lame.  If you don't personally wear jerseys, fine.  There's lots of stuff I don't prefer to do, but I don't claim that I'm more of a man for not doing it.

Especially when tons of grown men do it.  I wear jerseys on game day, even when I'm just watching at my house. Sometimes I don't, and I'll wear a Michigan t-shirt, but what's the difference?  Even in LA where people are very in to fashion, I see TONS of grown men wearing football jerseys on both Saturday and Sunday.  Girls too.

So yeah, I think it's mostly (b), guys being insecure.  Typically the most judgy are the most insecure.

Congrats on the weight loss. Bet you feel like a new man! Terrific example of what you can acheive with willpower.

First and foremost, congratulations on the weight loss!

As for a jersey, I actually severely toned down the wearing of jerseys quite some time ago in favor of a generious array of Michigan t-shirts and a few of the team shirts mixed in. Most jerseys that I have at this point is in storage or framed - only a few remain in active circulation, but I haven't worn one to a game in a while. I just drifted away from it for some reason (probably because many of the ones I have are now more snug than they used to be) - I don't really think there is an upper limit on the age though.

At work, on Fridays before games, I do rock the Michigan polo - it's business casual and it's just common sense for me.

I am 37 and I don't get the whole "too old to wear a jersey" thing. You are going to a football game. Why not? To a company outing or something work related - obviously not. But to a sports bar, sporting event or even just out doing errands with the family on a gameday, I just don't see a jersey as something that adults can't wear.

I don't get it either. It's the "holier than thou" SOBs who like to belittle others for donning jerseys. This just in, they're just shirts with numbers. OMG THAT IS SOOOOOOO IMMATURE!

Hey! I use it to go to the bar in the offseason, and I'm 28... I gotta say I've meet some people thanks to it, both UM fans and girls that I've befriended (after all, how common is to find a fellow M fan in Mexico?) and I've also meet some buckeyes, most of them moderate and I've had a few beers with them, also a couple of OSU girls with whom I had a friendly disagreement and ended just making fun of them...

Congrats on the weight loss! I've been on a diet for awhile now and only been drinking Coke Zero and I am seeing results (cool story bro).

Taking this right from my official 2013/Team 134 Gameday Wear-

  • The adidas #2 2008-2012 home jersey will be worn at least 5 times.
  • The adidas #2 2008-2011 road jersey will be worn at least 4 times.
  • adidas Blue ClimaLite polo will be worn at least two times.
  • adidas Legacy jersey will be worn for UTL II.

Should Michigan makes the B1G Championship game, whatever their home/road designation is, that jersey will be worn. And should Michigan makes a bowl game, the Blue ClimaLite polo will be worn.

The only game I'm going to this year is The Game.  Considering the likely temperature, I'll probably layer-up underneath my maize fleece.  I like wearing maize.  I like when others wear maize.  My issue isn't with adults wearing jerseys, but rather with the fact that very few Michigan jerseys are maize.  When I was in school in the mid-90's, very few people wore maize.  IMHO, it's better now.

I make zero judgments on adults wearing jerseys to football games, pro or college.  I just make judgments on those who criticize what other people wear -- in any context.

Ok, I'll bite.  I have no problem with someone wearing longs shorts and shower shoes at a decent restaurant, if the restaurant is comfortable with them wearing it.  I've never understood why people can get so worked up about stuff like this.  I go to decent restaurants to enjoy good food, a drink, and spend time with my wife.  Not to spend my night concerned about what others are doing.  If the restaurant had issue with it, they wouldn't have let them in.

That's the only one I've bought since I was a kid. I also have two youth sized hockey jerseys I've hung, one of the 1997 M hockey sweaters and one replica of Yzerman's. Other than my own that's all I've ever had, not sure if I'll ever buy another.

Am I the only one here repping the season shirt? That's my ritual; the current season shirt, only on game days and then it gets retired. I've been doing it since they started them in 2003(?).

Not a big fan of the jerseys. I understand the argument: you spend so much on them that you want to wear them. But given that we haven't deviated from the blues and whites, you're stuck with those colors. White only works if it's a true white out. Darkish blue, while an awesome color, don't get me wrong, is one of the worst offenders for blending into the crowd. Some people don't like the laser yellow, but it definitely does its job. The student section, with its high concentration of "maize," always looks so much better than the rest of the stadium...

As an aside, what are people's favorite season shirt? Personally I think it's the '06 shirt hands down (Go Blue Wear Maize). They really redeemed themselves from the '05 disaster, to this day still the only one to not be yellow...

#12 was my number growing up and except when I got #1 in Lacrosse for the Senior season.  In-Laws got me an authentic adidas #12 because I was convinced Roundtree would blow up and it was my number.  Sigh, sorry Roy.  But that Gardner Jersey change is really working for me this year...

I don't wear only one, rather I don something different every weekend. I have a ton of shirts and hoodies, but as for jerseys, I have a white number 2 that I bought when McGuffie was here, a blue authentic Desmond, a white Breaston, an authentic Denard (with stiched name on back).
