What is your 2013 Jersey that you will be wearing this year? Number, Brand, Authentic, Replica, Name? Or will you be wearing the season shirt? I am currently in the market because I have dropped 130 lbs and my #2 woodson jersey no longer fits and is framed in my living room.
What is your 2013 Jersey?
On the weight loss! 130lbs is a lot!
I'll be wearing the season shirt myself or a replica #7 jersey (no name on back)
Rule #1 – All weight gained or lost is beneficial.
Full body paint until Oct. then throwback Harmon jersey
I was going to buy the Harmon $140 one, until I went to Mden at Youth Day and saw it. It is not much more than a sweatshirt with sewn on numbers. I have authentic home #7and away #5 and thought this woulg be great, but way overpriced for old 98. I am ordering an authentic home 98 current styling that I know will last way longer than the sweatshirt.
Too bad too, I was really excited to get it.
Full body paint?
Congrats in the weight loss. That's an impressive achievement.
I could use a new girlfriend.
2008 season shirt all the way. "GO BLUE" in big, bold letters gets me every time.
this wad my first jersey I bought because I was so pumped up to see Sam Mcguffie ...smh that didn't pan out.
Uhhhmmm what number did he wear again?
WHO DOES #2 WORK FOR?!!
Most importantly, congrats!!! 130 lb. WOW. I'll be wearing an older season shirt while it's warm, and a hockey jersey for later in the year!
I don't really like wearing jerseys. Something about that seems like a Buckeye fan thing, especially since it is the Jersey of a 20 year old kid. I usually just go with the standard maize t shirt with MICHIGAN across the chest. If it is chilly I wear my blue Adidas hoodie.
OTOH if getting a new jersey was a self-reward personal achievement thing for the weight loss, then more power to you. I would go with #13 because you basically lost Terry Richardson.
I hear ya, but my number 16 jersey was a Navarre jersey. I swear. I feel weird wearing jerseys too but not mad at those who wear them.
My girlfriend told me its kinda weird to wear a jersey as an adult. Then again she told me that jean shorts aren't fashionable, so what does she know!
Don't be that guy, evenyoubrutus. There is nothing wrong with wearing a jersey as opposed to a tee shirt, hoody, whatever else. What is the difference between jerseys and other garments?
#44..Sean Sanderson jersey..Bring back the Crane!!
Anyone have an idea where I could get a Denard UTL jersey? As a matter of superstition, I do not buy a player's jersey until he has graduated, so I couldn't get it back then. And I can't seem to find it now.
Yeah, the sketchy Chinese site, that's not verisign certified, where everything is $22.99...
I bought my authentic jerseys from China. Have a Pavel and Denard, both are excellent quality. If you want to spend $160 on the same thing here in the states, have at it. The economy could use your money, but I'd prefer to save some money instead.
Authentic, as in this?:
Yes, it is authentic quality. The numbers and names are stitched. Jerseys are way over priced in the states. Keep thinking that you need to spend $160 or more for a jersey just because some store in the US says so if you need peace of mind though. You are being duped big time. If you give me your e-mail, I can send you pictures of both of mine.
Congrats on the weight loss. That's awesome.
I'm a grown man and am not playing in the game, so no jersey.
a grown man and I care what people think of me. Oh no, they may think I'm a fan!
Seriously, I've never gotten that attitude. You're at a football game cheering for you team, and you can't wear a jersey???? Blue lot guy aren't you?
I wish I could upvote you 1,000,000 times.
Because it sounds like you should change your avatar to "Please STAY OFF MY LAWN"
T shirt or polo because I'm an adult.
Shut up, Hufflepuff.
This. Every time.
Personally, I think a polo shirt is more ridiculous than a jersey. I'm a grown man, I have a good job, own a house and drive a goddamn Prius, and I wear a polo only when I can't get away with wearing something more comfortable, and a football game is not one of those things.
And why is a t-shirt more grown up than a jersey? Would you care to explain why you feel your clothing option makes you more of an adult than me?
I think you meant snob, not adult. Can you explain why wearing a jersey is somehow juvenile? They are comfortable, look great and show spirit. By sure why being an adult means that you can't enjoy being comfortable and getting into the spirit of a football game.
I am an adult, a partner at a large law firm, married with kids, own a nice house and on the boards of several organizations. Still wear my jerseys to games and sometimes on the weekend. Shockingly, nobody has revoked my adult card yet.
Yes and I demand to look professional when I'm going to watch and yell while teenagers and early twenty year olds play football! It's not like we are there to have fun people!!!
This x 100. Jerseys are for kids.
Tell me more about Brag Camp!
...that's an awful lot of Shake Weight. Hopefully you didn't just use one arm, unless it was to even out the look of the other arm.
Nameless #16, but we know it's for Denard.
Seriously dude, the weight loss thing is awesome. Congrats. And personally I'm not a jersey person, but I would definitely wear Gardner's over the next two seasons.
Bought #32 way back for A-Train and still have a #2. #32 was great when Kovacs was wearing it. I only wear either one about a few times per year though. Not one of those anti-jersey snobs, I just only like to bust it for big games.
I'm similar, as I only wear jerseys on game day. The Buckeye thing to do, as someone so ridiculously compared us to, is to wear jerseys year round.
I also wear mine that actually fit and are not XL or bigger like most people. I wear mediums.
Nike Home Jersey. #20
Same. Mike Hart!
I'm gonna wear the same long sleeve Michigan basketball maize shirt that brought us wins in 2009, 2010, 2011 against ND. I went to the game last year in south bend, but left my shirt. Never again.
You have no idea. I mean I KNEW I dropped the ball. I have been to every ND game since 2007. I got the maize shirt in '09 in Ann arbor and the rest is history. I'm about to run home now and make sure it's in my drawer now. Ahhh.
I can't remember what I wore the last time! I have a pic of me and I can tell its a maize shirt but the front is cut off because the pic is pretty much shoulders up. I do remember what I wore in south bend last year so I won't wear that.
I hate to admit it, but I think I'm too old at this point to wear a jersey. I bought a Denard jersey 2 years ago (after a Breaston and Forcier...err...Avery jersey) and I will still wear it proudly, but I wanted to buy a #1 jersey as soon as someone donned it. Not sure if that's socially ok now that I'm 27.
I guess what I'm hoping for is that everyone on the board will tell me to rock it with pride. Thanks in advance.
Rock it with pride. Do what you want and don't give a shit what others think. I have a daughter your age and a granddaughter, and I'll be sporting my #16 jersey. If someone thinks I'm too old, I think they lack my fashion sense.
I'm the same age as you and I don't think it's a big deal. I have a couple of jerseys and I wear them if I feel like it. I don't really feel self conscious about it.
I am 10 years older than you, and I wear my jerseys with pride. My kids love when I do because they get to dress like dad when we go out for the day.
Just to be safe, i just ran yur question by my wife. She is actually really into fashion and she says that it is absolutely silly to think that there is an age where wearing a jersey becomes inappropriate. There's your answer.
This is one of the rare times I agree with Rager. The whole "I don't do _____ because I'm a grown man" is really lame. If you don't personally wear jerseys, fine. There's lots of stuff I don't prefer to do, but I don't claim that I'm more of a man for not doing it.
Especially when tons of grown men do it. I wear jerseys on game day, even when I'm just watching at my house. Sometimes I don't, and I'll wear a Michigan t-shirt, but what's the difference? Even in LA where people are very in to fashion, I see TONS of grown men wearing football jerseys on both Saturday and Sunday. Girls too.
So yeah, I think it's mostly (b), guys being insecure. Typically the most judgy are the most insecure.
But do you really agree with him and his wife?
Congrats on the weight loss. Bet you feel like a new man! Terrific example of what you can acheive with willpower.
How do you know he didn't achieve it through surgery and cocaine?
Really I just started eating healthy and ran. Easier to lose a lot when you weigh a lot, was up to 340.
Great for you. I need to do both. And my response was tongue-in-cheek. Except the cocaine part. That you should share.
Got an authentic 47 jersey. Hoping I can wear it for awhile assuming someone good always wears it
First and foremost, congratulations on the weight loss!
As for a jersey, I actually severely toned down the wearing of jerseys quite some time ago in favor of a generious array of Michigan t-shirts and a few of the team shirts mixed in. Most jerseys that I have at this point is in storage or framed - only a few remain in active circulation, but I haven't worn one to a game in a while. I just drifted away from it for some reason (probably because many of the ones I have are now more snug than they used to be) - I don't really think there is an upper limit on the age though.
At work, on Fridays before games, I do rock the Michigan polo - it's business casual and it's just common sense for me.
I am 37 and I don't get the whole "too old to wear a jersey" thing. You are going to a football game. Why not? To a company outing or something work related - obviously not. But to a sports bar, sporting event or even just out doing errands with the family on a gameday, I just don't see a jersey as something that adults can't wear.
I don't get it either. It's the "holier than thou" SOBs who like to belittle others for donning jerseys. This just in, they're just shirts with numbers. OMG THAT IS SOOOOOOO IMMATURE!
You mean Bando? That sounds just like him.
Don't forget the belittling for liking autographs and liking the alternate jerseys, too.
It does seem like a very weird hangup for a person to have
Hey! I use it to go to the bar in the offseason, and I'm 28... I gotta say I've meet some people thanks to it, both UM fans and girls that I've befriended (after all, how common is to find a fellow M fan in Mexico?) and I've also meet some buckeyes, most of them moderate and I've had a few beers with them, also a couple of OSU girls with whom I had a friendly disagreement and ended just making fun of them...
Congrats on the weight loss! I've been on a diet for awhile now and only been drinking Coke Zero and I am seeing results (cool story bro).
Taking this right from my official 2013/Team 134 Gameday Wear-
- The adidas #2 2008-2012 home jersey will be worn at least 5 times.
- The adidas #2 2008-2011 road jersey will be worn at least 4 times.
- adidas Blue ClimaLite polo will be worn at least two times.
- adidas Legacy jersey will be worn for UTL II.
Should Michigan makes the B1G Championship game, whatever their home/road designation is, that jersey will be worn. And should Michigan makes a bowl game, the Blue ClimaLite polo will be worn.
I've had my chad henne jersey since my freshman year in 2006. That isn't changing anytime soon
I wish Gardner would have kept seven but Shane will represent it well. Something special about that seven jersey.
Season shirt to games.... Tailgating or just around; Rotating between a Howard, Woodson, denard, and UTL #21. And once I place the order ill add in a Brady jersey too (only have a red pats brady)
The only game I'm going to this year is The Game. Considering the likely temperature, I'll probably layer-up underneath my maize fleece. I like wearing maize. I like when others wear maize. My issue isn't with adults wearing jerseys, but rather with the fact that very few Michigan jerseys are maize. When I was in school in the mid-90's, very few people wore maize. IMHO, it's better now.
I make zero judgments on adults wearing jerseys to football games, pro or college. I just make judgments on those who criticize what other people wear -- in any context.
In any context?
So you're OK with someone wearing, say, long shorts and shower shoes at a decent restaurant (I have seen this)?
Ok, I'll bite. I have no problem with someone wearing longs shorts and shower shoes at a decent restaurant, if the restaurant is comfortable with them wearing it. I've never understood why people can get so worked up about stuff like this. I go to decent restaurants to enjoy good food, a drink, and spend time with my wife. Not to spend my night concerned about what others are doing. If the restaurant had issue with it, they wouldn't have let them in.
That's the only one I've bought since I was a kid. I also have two youth sized hockey jerseys I've hung, one of the 1997 M hockey sweaters and one replica of Yzerman's. Other than my own that's all I've ever had, not sure if I'll ever buy another.
What's up with the depth chart? Has anyone posted anything or has anything been announced? Link?
Am I the only one here repping the season shirt? That's my ritual; the current season shirt, only on game days and then it gets retired. I've been doing it since they started them in 2003(?).
Not a big fan of the jerseys. I understand the argument: you spend so much on them that you want to wear them. But given that we haven't deviated from the blues and whites, you're stuck with those colors. White only works if it's a true white out. Darkish blue, while an awesome color, don't get me wrong, is one of the worst offenders for blending into the crowd. Some people don't like the laser yellow, but it definitely does its job. The student section, with its high concentration of "maize," always looks so much better than the rest of the stadium...
As an aside, what are people's favorite season shirt? Personally I think it's the '06 shirt hands down (Go Blue Wear Maize). They really redeemed themselves from the '05 disaster, to this day still the only one to not be yellow...
#12 was my number growing up and except when I got #1 in Lacrosse for the Senior season. In-Laws got me an authentic adidas #12 because I was convinced Roundtree would blow up and it was my number. Sigh, sorry Roy. But that Gardner Jersey change is really working for me this year...
Home #21. No name on back.
Coach Hoke has promised me the #1.
Braylon promised it to me.
I don't wear only one, rather I don something different every weekend. I have a ton of shirts and hoodies, but as for jerseys, I have a white number 2 that I bought when McGuffie was here, a blue authentic Desmond, a white Breaston, an authentic Denard (with stiched name on back).
Still rockin' my
Leach Henson Henne Gardner Hawthorne Morris #7.
Ahem. You forgot about Spencer Brinton.
Didn't forget; there have been 7s before and since but I never said I was rockin the number for them. I bought the thing because I was excited about Henson (he was my year which is why I got his instead of 32 for my favorite player at the time).
I never had it on during the Navarre years and claimed it was for Spencer Brinton. But I did lie to a guy once that it was for Leach because I was embarrassed to have been a "Put in Henson!" guy.
Going with #16 because I'm unique.
I will be going with the 1998 Authentic Rose Bowl Anthony Thomas for home games and 2000 Authentic Orange Bowl Anthony Thomas for road games. Great player and awesome jerseys from my time as a student at Michigan.
I wear a white jersey number 09 because it is my year of graduation and I got it as a gift.
Going to wear my jake long home jersey for the student section
I wear either my maize "hail" shirt or my 2012 Sugar Bowl shirt under my #7 home jersey.
Congrats on the weight loss!
Game days I have a Blue, Nike, #2, and a white, Nike, #1.
I've pretty much stop wearing the jersey to the game. It sucks to wear during the warm September games and it doesn't stand out as much as maize. I wear the maize tshirt or sweatshirt to every game. I still throw on the home jersey when I'm watching an away game on tv.
team 134 shirt - i buy the game shirt every year . . .
Just a 2009 Adidas highlighter yellow long sleeve T, sleeves cut off, a big cigar burnhole by the right kidney, has some mystery stains that look like grape jelly, Beck's beer and duck blood. Huge grass stain on the right shoulder from laying out for a bomb in Allmendinger Park that never quite came out.
Yes, I am your drunk uncle from out of town.
Go Blue, Wear Maize.
Originally Jamie Morris, but now it's Dennis Norfleet. Anticipation is higher than the Chris Perry years. Go Blue.
How do people feel about hockey jerseys to football games? I wore my maize hockey jersey to the Sugar Bowl - mostly because it was brand new (Christmas present) and I couldn't resist wearing it - but I got a lot of questions about it. I think it works well because it is maize.
For polo wearing people, mind sharing some links/ examples. That sounds like a good idea
I picked up one of the sideline polo's from Dick's Sporting Goods, wear it to work for casual fridays in season. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=21172306&ppp=34&lmdn=Brand&cp=4406646.11400507.15504456.12674190.15650166
I buy a polo every year or so. Always go sideline...try and rotate between white/blue/maize.
37 irons or 18 bass
#1 AC, #32 AT/ACCTJK, #16 DR
I have my #69 nike jersey that I got at the AD garage sale a few years ago or my Desmond Howard #21. This will be my first year having non student season tickets so Ill have to make my decision on shirt depending on who is around my seats...#69 isnt ideal to explain to kids since it isnt Denard's old number or Devin's number now
This year, after I had Denard sign my #16 home jersey, I will be wearing my #41 Nike Zoltan Mesko gameworn home jersey. I snatched it at the garage sale the Michigan athletic department had during the switch to addidas. I was one of the first people in the door and I snatched it up pretty quick. I noticed Boren's jersey was still there after I checked out...
my antiqueing dad picked me up a Woodson #2 at an auction for $10 bucks...not authentic, but nice......i don't know what happened to the #32 i had in middle school. Im more of a t-shirt or sweatshirt guy. I also have my Bo portrait t-shirt in maize.
where'd you drop the 130 at? I'd like to go pick up 40 of it. In all seriousness congratulations on the accomplishment. No jersey for me, I like my hoodie in the colder weather or just a generic Michigan addidas t-shirt. Not very exciting, as I don't own a Michigan jersey yet.
I'll go #6 Wheatley home jersey. When feeling bro, #1 away. Only time I've broken out Wheatley in the last 20 years was for under the lights.
...he weighs 167 lbs. I roll with a '97 Woodson jersey...it never goes out of style.
I bought one from MDEN authentic with my last name on it and the number 6 the win loss ratio on it is pretty high so I'm happy with it
Woodson Jersey. That'll be good enough for me until I'm dead and rotting in the ground.
Different jerseys all the time. On game day though, I have a number 62 practice jersey that I found on eBay. It's made by Nike and it's awesome. It has the hologram M on the shoulders.
in honor of the end of the rrod offense I will pull out my first jersey, Russell athletics Wheatley #6. I think I got it in middle school, still fits.
wish I bought the Howard also
Three years ago I bought an away #1 jersey. It's clean, crisp and most importantly, symbolic of Michigan, not a specific player. I'm not a huge jersey guy, but I'll wear it on gamedays.
I do think it is weird to buy a jersey for a current player, which is why I went with the classic #1.
growing up in California my friend next door was related to Desmond Howard, he was given a pair of his game worn shoes autographed from his heismen season. I was 12 then, he neglected them, threw them in his closet. now I asked about them and he has no idea where they went. I told him then I would love to have them if he didn't care.
I got that Irons jersey right before graduation in May 97 since it was on sale. It was my first jersey and I joked with my roommate that I'd wear it for every game that year until we lost. And that if they went undefeated, I'd never wear it again and get it framed. We all know how that next season went. I broke it out for the hockey title game in 98,but it has been retired since. I had a very big dilemma about whether to wear it to the basketball game in Atlanta this year before deciding against it.
I'll be wearing the following:
First layer of underwear, socks, and blue "Hail" shirt
Second layer of Blue suit complete with block M tie and dress shoes
3rd layer of #16 "authentic" jersey purchased from China
Did I cover all bases?
There are no quotations necessary, as the jerseys from China are all authentic. The numbers and letters are stitched on the fabric. Just because they're not purchased in the states for a ripping-off $160 or more, doesn't make them any less authentic.
The quotations weren't for that purpose.. I was more poking fun at people thinking that things that are sold here for $160 are actually made here.
This is always decision time for me each season. Based on the numbers I have, I try to pick a horse to ride for the season. So time to go roster checking:
I like wearing home for home and away for away. Home Jerseys:
#6 Tyrone Wheatley jersey from waaay back in the day, now Ramon Taylor and Brian Cleary (wore this for years, especially nice as a Victor Hobson or Donovan Warren)
#23 Authentic from when Chris Perry was playing, now Dennis Norfleet
#32 Authentic from when Anthony Thomas was playing, now Shaun Austin
#2 100th game M-OSU commemorative, don't wear this much, now not used
#16 UTL jersey, my wife bought it for me and it has grown on me a lot; may wear for UTL II
Pretty sure I'll go with #23 this year.
Side note: When you go to the footbal statistics archive at MGoBlue.com and search for Kovacs, his jersey now comes up as "2B." Friggin' unintended consequences of this whole "Legends" thing...
Sometimes they get rotated out, depending on home/road, and who we play (usually ND, MSU, OSU get specific shirts)-
2 (home Rose Bowl which is little small so wore for road games in front of tv; home 100th OSU game week before OSU; and authentic road), 6, 9 (though that's a "real" jersey so it's great if you're playing weight but not otherwise, so not worn much), 18, 21 (H&R not authentic), 37 (practice jersey), and there's a 75 that sometimes gets put on for road games, and maybe like a 42 or something with tears that isn't really worn.
But I would never wear a cap to the game. Caps are for coaches, and I'm not coaching.
(Seriously, how silly is all that on a site where the guy who writes it is almost never seen anywhere not in a hockey jersey??)
At 54, I'm running and in weight training and I just want to drop from around 200 to 180. You are inspiring me!
#12. He's going to have a great season
