What would a loss to Indiana mean?

I don't think anyone (except RR) really knew what type of team we could have expected to see this year.

I expected them to be better; however, they would be starting a true freshman at QB and would still be a very young team overall.

I figured there would be games this year that we would win and weren't supposed to (ND), but there will also be games that we lose when we were supposed to win.

The fact that MSU follows has me a little concerned they could be looking ahead.

Not concerned

RR has a pretty good track record keeping his teams hungry against lesser opponents.

And these Wolverines are hungry for some tasty Hoosiers.

What if?

What if the world ended tomorrow?
What if the sun didn't rise?
What if the US defaulted on it's bonds?
What if Michigan lost to IU and never played football ever again because the loss was so bad that they never wanted to play a game again?

Seriously let's just play the games and stop playing the what if games with every possible situation that could arise with Michigan Football. It's getting ridiculous!

IU is an improved team this year. Michigan can not overlook them. That said, if Michigan gets the ball to the playmakers in space, they should roll up a 40 burger in this game.

Rich Rod will be reminding

Rich Rod will be reminding the team that Indiana is 3-0, and he will stress the importance of starting off the Big Ten season with a win. I highly doubt the players will be looking ahead to Michigan State. The road to respect ultimately meanders through the Big Ten schedule. The team will be anxious to start on a positive note.

If Michigan were to lose, it would prove the vulnerability of a team with a true freshman QB and a young defense. We would know that, as we suspected, Michigan could beat teams they were not supposed to and also lose to teams they shouldn't.

A loss to Indiana wouldn't hurt HALF as much as a loss to App State or Toledo. But it would sting pretty bad.

Losing a game you should win is always a concern when you have a freshman quarterback. But there's nothing we can do about it.

So far, Indiana hasn't given me TOO much to be concerned about. Western stayed close with them throughout and had 2 chances to beat them in Bloomington. A 5 point win over Eastern Kentucky doesn't sound impressive. Gotta like our chances to make it 16 in a row over the Hoosiers this Saturday.

I doubt RichRod would let the players think ahead to the game against Sparty. They're the ones who have had a long history of looking ahead to the backyard brawl, not us. My personal favorite was in 1997 when a bad Northwestern team blocked their game winning field goal in the final seconds. Gary Barnett said from the start, "You could tell they weren't thinking about us all game. They were thinking about Michigan."

That was the same day we had that thrilling comeback win over Iowa at the Big House. Good times. Good times.

Haven't we had a post every week saying "What if we lost to so and so"? Let's just do this every week I say. I think too many people are just looking at wins and losses and aren't enjoying all the small things about our team.

Rich Rod

When Rich Rod was interviewed before running off of the field, the reporter asked him about Indiana. The smile went off of his face and he became pretty serious. He immediately brought up the goal that the team has set to win a Big Ten championship. I think he is taking the game very seriously and this will definitely trickle down to the players.

Now, how realistic the goal is, I'm not sure, but it seems like overall the team is taking their goals very seriously. It is consistently brought up in press conferences and interviews.

Give me a fucking break.

Don't give this crap about "if you don't want to read about the subject of the post then don't read it." That's a cop out. That's the type of thing that people say when they are afraid of criticism regardless of its form.

When you write a post on a highly visible, highly frequented blog dedicated to one of the most high-profile college football teams, you're inviting readers to the post. You're also inviting criticism, whether you like it or not. To pretend otherwise is bullshit. If you can't handle the criticism, including the ones that say your post is shit, then piss off yourself.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.

I don't mind criticism. In fact I welcome criticism of my opinions.

What I and others are sick of are the MGOBLOG message board police who have nothing better to do than complain about a topic they don't feel like reading or talking about.

If you want to critique any of my opinions than feel free. If you want to answer sarcastically to any of my questions feel free.

Don't be a douche and bash someone simply because you don't feel like talking about the topic.

No, you do not welcome

No, you do not welcome criticism. If you did, you would take it all in, including the ones that say your post is worthless, premature, tired, worn out, etc. If you can't deal with the scorn, then don't post in the first place. It's preferable to your whining.

Just enjoy the season

Remember the beginning of the season? 6-6 or 7-5? Remember how we were just going to go with the flow and let OSU, PSU and MSU worry about their bowl games and record?
Obviously expectations have risen. "Stay humble and stay hungry" and just enjoy the season.

Well, for one thing

it would mean we have suddenly gone from a decent team to TEH SUCK, and RichRod critics will come out of the woodwork again. I'd also have to revise my season prediction down to 6-6 if we lose it IU, and I'll go into full blown panic mode over the potential of a second losing season.

It'd also be a serious hit to team confidence heading into the trip to Spartyville.

Having said all of the above, Indiana is not good, we should beat them. They squeaked by Western Michigan, for one, and squeaked by Eastern Kentucky, who I never had even heard of.

Well....

It would mean that Tom Crean is one step closer to regaining IU's birthright position at the top of the league standings and that his massive rebuiilding project may be fully loaded. The Big 10 better look the fuck out.

Oh wait, what are we talking about again!?!?

It would mean

that Gary DiNardo would have a man-sized erection the rest of the year on the BTN.

both UM and MSU games are at noon

Damn! I so wanted to see another "Sparty NOOO!" moment. I have this feeling that Wisconsin will beat MSU on a last second field goal, sending Sparty Nation into convulsions. Or maybe I'm just hoping for that.

Seriously?

The serious answer is that I would take over this Blog.

Brian and I have a little bit of a wager going.

It would mean that we didn't block and tackle well enough

and that RR and GERG will be on every players ass all week to be prepared for MSU.

Personally, I don't think the coaches on this team will take anyone, any team, or any situation lightly all season. This season is shaping up as a statement season for RR. He needs it for the control of the program and the message to the alumni. The media needs this season to decide what their agenda will be going forward.

If we block and tackle well the next three weeks, ANYTHING is possible(except a losing season).

RR wants to be in the Big 10 discussion and IU is the first step toward that goal.

It would destroy the

It would destroy the momentum, but it isn't going to happen,
not against Ind., RR has this team determined to win.

Not thinking loss to IU...

UM's points scored -- 31, 38, 45. I think the number will increase again against IU as the young guys continue to improve. The team wants to make a statement to the B10 in game #1 against IU. And that statement will be 50-20, Michigan.

It

will not happen. Indiana does not have the calibur offense like we do right now. Michigan will THUMP Indiana.
