What is our practice schedule for the post season?

I really hope the total focus is on Bama for this period in which we do not know our fate. Bama's watching Florida tape right now, an extra week would help us. If we don't make it, FSU and Louisville do not present legitimate challenges (obviously I hope the team isn't thinking this way).

Great point. Hopefully the coaches are preparing for Bama. Although I also wouldn't mind if Harbuagh wanted to send Col and Va tech some tips.

With UM being #5 in the rankings tonight, isn't it likely either Alabama or the Rose Bowl? Would the Rose Bowl take a 3 loss B1G team that lost to Michigan, over a 2 loss Michigan?

Rose has to take big ten champion if they aren't in the playoffs and I'm thinking they won't be

That game is a toss up. If Colorado wins we could very likely be going to the playoffs. We would have the best argument to go- we beat both Colorado and the Big Ten Champ.

I wouldn't say it's a toss up. I know the transitive property doesn't really apply to sports well, but Colorado played a game that was back and forth until the 4th quarter at home against WSU, who promptly got blown out at home by Washington. ESPN was giving Washington a 78% win probability last I checked. I'm not saying that Colorado has no chance, it's just gonna be a tough game for them.

Given we wouldn't play Alabama until new years eve and they would find out who they play on Dec 4, I really don't think there is much of a strategic advantage in us prepping for the while they are distracted with Florida. They'll have plenty of time to prepare. Further, with the size of Saban's staff and budget and the relative inconsequence of the Florida game, I'll bet he already has groups of people breaking down film on all of the most likely playoff teams.
To the extent our resources are limited, it seems to me the best use of time would be trying to figure out how to improve our run game regardless of opponent.

Don't know all the specifics but think you get X amount of practice days/hours. When you start bowl practice kind of depends on what bowl you are in and when it is played. Also need to determine when the team would travel down, how many practices down there, etc. Bowl practice is not unlimited so you can't just start now.
Also, think there is some differences on whether school is in session or not on how much time the players can spend each week.
Now for the coaches, they are probably out recruiting with some staff members doing some initial tape breakdown of Bama, Clemson, Wash, FSU, USC, and Virginia Tech.

It's a common misconception that there is a set number of bowl practices. They can continue practicing with the usual 20 hour per week rules. Once finals are done, then that goes away.
Clemson actually got a waiver for extra practice time last year because they had a different academic calender than Bama.

The standard has been 15 practices/20 hrs per week. Extra practice time can be granted depending on the classroom/travel situations. Extra time has been granted for the playoff/championship as well.

They can't practice until they are selected.

I assume this is only the case for bowl-eligible teams?
What about the 5-7 teams that might get picked because of their high APR?

Bowl Practices are YUGELY important, especially when helmed by Harbaugh's coaching acumen. So much improvement takes place. Sets up team for not only competing in bowl game but developing next year's starters for coming Spring Practices. Guys like Onwenu, Crawford, L. Hill, D. Long, S. McKeon, K. Hudson, D. Bush, C. Kemp, R. Johnson will benefit immensely.

and we are still bowl eligible? Someone looked it up to make sure?

What Harbaugh ought to work on is a better approach to working the refs. It should srart with what motivates refs. Theses guys make what 3k a game. Given a lot of them are professional types, that is not a ton of money to be taking abuse from thousands of fans. So they must be in it for the control or because they're altruistic. I'm betting for most it is control. It is not surprising that folks doing something because they like control would react adversely to Harbaugh's antics. To some degree he is who he is, but you'd think a guy as competitive and smart as Harbaugh would want to gain a possible advantage by better handling of refs.

in a bowl are allowed 15 practices.
November 30th, 2016 at 10:57 AM ^
Spring practice is limited to 15 practice dates; perhaps that is where you get your mistaken idea here. There is absolutely no limitation for the number of practices in the interval between the end of the regular season and the bowl game, other than the usual "6 days per week" rule.
See, for example, this article:

At least that's what I'm aiming for. I found a practice facility about 40 minutes from my house that has heated tees with a sheltering wall to the north. Plus they have simulator bays indoors that I'll use once in a while to check on my ball flight and distance.
Wait, you are talking about our offseason golf practice, right?
