What (non-Michigan) coaching changes do you expect in the offseason?
With the end of the season approaching, what kind of coaching changes do you folks forecast for around the conference and nation?
Will Pelini keep his job? If not, who replaces him?
Will Narduzzi stay in East Lansing or will he get his shot at a head gig elsewhere?
Is Mack Brown back next year at Texas? What about Muschamp at Florida?
Who will be the head coach of Southern Cal?
Any other predictions?

I don't think Mullen is done at Mississippi State. He's 4-1 against Ole Miss and is about to take them to their 4th straight bowl game.

Not sure if London is gone - Virginia might not have the money to pay the buyout payments they still owe Al Groh and his staff, along with what they'll owe London and his staff.

I don't think S.Miss is going to to go for a 4th head coach in 4 years. That would be incredibly stupid.
As for USC maybe Chris Peterson finally makes the move. Usually when his name comes you here a lot of sources saying he isn't interested. Haven't heard many of those this time around.

Completly agree about S.Miss and Todd Monken. No athletic director wants to have that kind of stat out there.
However if Monken is fired, I'd love to see him as an OC at Michigan. Ran a wide-open offense at Oklahoma State, has coaching ties to the state of Michigan (worked at Grand Valley, OC at Eastern Michigan), and has HC expereince-which given the way Hoke seems to want a hands off philosophy towards the offense HC expereince couldn't hurt.
I predict Hawaii, Florida, Virginia, Iowa State, New Mexico, Wake Forrest, and Texas get new head coaches.

Narduzzi will get a HC somewhere like Purdue or Rutgers. Someplace you can win, but not a traditional power.
Muschamp is out.
Mack Brown gets another year.
Fickell will get the HC at FIU or EMU or some bottom feeder.
Weis will stay for some reason only Kansans can ununderstand.
Holgerson holds on for another year.
Ogeron gets USC HC.

That makes sense too. He's been a good soldier, but they can't have another year with that D. OSU will talk some mid level bottom feeder into taking him on as there HC. Great programs don't need to fire guys, they just promote them off the staff. Interested to see who they bring on next year, though.

I agree that Narduzzi gets a head coaching gig after this season - his stock can't get any higher. But why do you (and, it seems, a lot of other people) see Narduzzi only being able to get a mid-tier job? He has built the best defense in the country using a bunch of three-star recruits. It's tough to imagine a coordinator with a better resume. If I were the AD of a school with a potential top team with a coaching vacancy (Nebraska? West Virginia?) I would certainly take a hard look at Narduzzi. I would think that something like Rutgers/Illinois/Virginia would be his floor.
FWIW, he's originally from Connecticut and has spent his entire coaching career either on the East Coast or in the Midwest.

I'm a bit confused. Several posters are talking about Pelini being out at Nebraska - didnt their AD come out yesterday and say he wasnt firing him?

Yes... aka the Dreaded Vote of Confidence. You could fill a book with similar quotes from ADs (or Professional team owners) who were about to fire their coaches.

Oh...I thought the AD said he was going to be the coach next year, not just for the Bowl game.
What did Narduzi say? I missed that.
December 1st, 2013 at 2:20 PM ^
Nothing in particular, just openly saying he's ready to be a head coach and just about soliciting offers ("for the right position." etc)
Also, I guess Neb's AD did say "and into the future" so it's not just the bowl game, which he mentioned specifically. Still, didn't seem like that strong of a statement to me though.

I can't see Orgeron getting the USC HC job. The main reason I say that is because he was at the heart of recruiting violations, and I doubt Pat Haden wants any part of that. However, I could see the next HC retaining "Coach O" on his staff. He'd be wise to do so, IMO.

I think if USC had won last night he might have gotten the job. But I think you're right, he'll likely remain on the staff.
December 1st, 2013 at 11:16 AM ^
He did a nice job for USC and did a nice job answering the question about being the permanent HC in the press conference last night. He said if he would have beaten ND and UCLA he thinks he would have been pretty tough not to hire but going 0-2 hurts his chances. That is probably spot on but what he accomplished could land him a job a good mid-major if one of those coaches moves up.

RichRod to USC, book it.
December 1st, 2013 at 9:00 PM ^
I bet not. They don't run a spread at USC, so there would be some down time before he got his own guys recruited. Given the media pressure there this would be a replay of Ann Arbor. At Zona he had a big head start. The offense already ran a form of the spread. He likes the place and they like him. He might move, but not yet.

I think that could very well be the case, but considering Narduzzi is from CT, I think it's too good of a match to ignore.

Dantonio will end his career at MSU.
December 1st, 2013 at 11:49 AM ^
The guy is a certifiable asshole, but he's a very, very good coach. He's been trumpeting the fact that, in the past four years, MSU has won 40 games. And he's been to the B1G championship twice in its three-year existence. Our team should be so lucky. No, he hasn't made a BCS game - yet - but win next week, and he's Rose Bowl-bound.
December 1st, 2013 at 12:08 PM ^
Most objective college football fans will agree that MSU got hosed when we were picked over them in 2011 since they had us beat. Our football brand got us in.
December 1st, 2013 at 12:19 PM ^
MSU had 3 losses that season (including the loss in the B1G championship game). That's an automatic disqualifer for a BCS at-large berth.
December 1st, 2013 at 12:20 PM ^
MSU failed to qualify for a BCS game that year because it did not finish in the top 14 of the BCS standings.
December 1st, 2013 at 12:26 PM ^
Or, you know, the fact that they weren't eligible for a BCS game under the rules. Did our brand get us in ahead of likely better teams? Maybe, but we did win that game, and again, MSU was ineligible according to the rules.

yeah mane, in the back of my mind im wondering what if that happens and Saban takes the Texas job. I highly doubt his agent was lying, despite the about-face by Saban with the media.
In the back of my mind I keep thinking if that happens, do we have a play with D. Hand. I know it may be unlikely, not to mention with the current state of our program... but i can dream.

Especially considering Brown's age, and the fact that Texas is getting a new AD. Chances are that AD is going to want his own guy in there.
