What (non-Michigan) coaching changes do you expect in the offseason?

Submitted by bluewave720 on

With the end of the season approaching, what kind of coaching changes do you folks forecast for around the conference and nation?

Will Pelini keep his job?  If not, who replaces him?

Will Narduzzi stay in East Lansing or will he get his shot at a head gig elsewhere?

Is Mack Brown back next year at Texas?  What about Muschamp at Florida?

Who will be the head coach of Southern Cal?

Any other predictions?

I was just listening up ESPN radio and they asked a caller if he was upset with saban for going for that field goal or for not putting different players on the field and the caller said 3 out if 5 ain't bad... Who am I to question that guy.

But seriously.... I hope with all my hopes that Oregron (sp?) keeps his job at USC
I think they give Pelini one more year

It makes me wonder if their starting QB didn't break his leg, how their season woulda gone... I think he gets one more year as well

The Top 10 for college football over their is an interesting group. By their figuring, the coaches in the most danger are:

Rank Coach Name School
1 Will Muschamp Florida
2 Norm Chow Hawaii
3 Dana Holgorsen West Virginia
4 Ron Turner Florida Int'l.
5 Charlie Weis Kansas
6 Mike London Virginia
7 Kevin Wilson Indiana
8 Todd Monken Southern Miss
9 Charley Molnar Massachusetts
10 Bret Bielema Arkansas

Yeah, this would look nothing like the Top 10 that I would have guessed, which is rather the reason I posted it as the perspective over at that site is very different. Weis is doing a subpar job even by Kansas standards, which is not saying much lately, and I am not even sure Bielema is in realizable danger of being a 1-and-out down in Arkansas, although some Razorback fans would probably be OK with that right now. I am not sure how Wilson ends up here myself, unless this is a metric based largely on record, but he seems to be in the midst of turning Indiana into something other than what it has been.

Didn't realize he was on the hot seat. If Hoke and Brandon decide to replace Borges with an offensive coordinator that also runs a pro-style offense, well, you could do worse than the guy whose offenses won two national championships and almost won a third...

Also, wasn't it just a year ago everyone was calling Holgerson a "genius?" Perhaps--gasp--West Virginia also has "execution issues."

Norm Chow spent a year at NC State in 2000 and 2 years in the mid-200s as OC of the Titans, otherwise he's never been east of Utah. I think we'd have to drop some serious change in his lap to get him here and even then we'd still have to compete with USC if he's not at Hawaii depending on what happens with their coaching search.

Illinois' AD hired Beckman, however, and probably will stick with him a little longer than an inherited guy. Plus, Beckman pulled Wes Lunt back from OSU, so they'll want to see what he does with him. Unless there's a relative big-timer ready to come to IL (HA!), I think he gets another year or two.

I don't see the Indiana coach being on the hot seat. He has greatly improved their offense.

Agree.  Can't understand how anyone would have Wilson on the hot seat.  They have not only gotten better each year under his reign, but it's not like he's underachieving.  Lynch made one bowl in 2007 at IU and didn't for the next 3 seasons.  Plus, we need to add in that they were forced to play Missouri, which few probably expected to be as good as they were this season and outside of a bad loss to Navy, would have made a bowl.

"Have you seen that pile of crap out there?"

-Charlie Weis

I know the bar is low but they are really bad. Only wins are South Dakota St., La. Tech, and West Virginia with some bad losses such as being shut out by Iowa St. I think Kansasis a place that will at best be a 6-6 team with a 7 win season here and there.

Mike London at Virginia is probably done.

Dan Mullen at Miss St. maybe as well.

I don't think Weiss or Bielema will be in trouble yet.

Kevin Wilson is definitely not in trouble at Indiana.
