What happened to Blake Countess
Nobody knows anything anymore...
Is the only truth
last night he probably got turf toe running off the field..... S/
Also, why didn't Wilson and Gordon start?
No idea Gordon is a senior leader and started every game this season. I don't understand the switch
Gordon got suspended for the season opener, so both parts of your statement are kind of false.
The one thing you got right: he is indeed a senior.
Has anyone ever told you that your posts make you seem like a condescending ass?
You could have easily said:
"Gordon was suspended for the season opener, so he hasn't started every game."
See the difference?
Tell me more.
No. I've told you enough. Plenty of people have told you that your superior attitude is unappreciated.
Sounded fine to me.
Well, false statements are also unappreciated.
And I've been on this blog for years, my attitude hasn't changed, and I doubt your comment is going to change my posting habits. But thanks, anyway.
people could stick to posting things that are true. just a thought.
I personally like Magnus nor do I think he's a condescending ass....
thought he was a condescending ass.. I did not like him very much at first. But over time I have learned to appreciate his condescending ass, maybe he's just an aquired taste.
Personally, I've come to love his salty disposition at times. I know whenever I see Brandon Graham's Press Conference Smile deeper than 3 levels down a comment stream that I'm in for good times.
Plus, he's kind of right, and ignoring the "team leader" argument about a guy who got suspended is pretty important.
I thought I heard Gordon had an injury of some nature and was limited to special teams and they benched Wilson to "shake things up" on defense.
I hope that second comment was sarcasm. I think Wilson has played well.
It did shake things up on defense, too. We gave up 10 points in the first quarter to a mediocre second string offense, at home no less.
Gordon was said to have an ankle injury which limited him to special teams. Seems like a cover up or something.
What kind of fucked up logic is that (not yours, but the staff's)? If he's healthy enough to play special teams, why can't he play D? Has this staff lost the team? It's looking more and more like that's the case
I saw Thomas Gordon after the game. He was walking from the tunnel to the Golf Course clubhouse. No boot, no crutches, no limp. He was (with family in tow) walking slowly, like a beaten human being; but so were they all.
I'd like to see the official participation report. I don't recall Thomas Gordon playing on special teams. Dymonte Thomas did; but I don't remember T. Gordon.
I think the wierdest personnel issue in the whole game was that it appeared that Bryan Cleary was going to enter the game for a banged-up Devin Gardner in the second half with the game still on the line. Cleary warmed up, helmet buttoned down -- looking like he was really getting ready to play, and not just warming up Jehu Chesson's hands.
Meanwhile, Shane Morris had a headset on the whole time.
I guessed that Devin was being examined, with the examination in doubt, but ultimately resolved in favor of his returninig to the game. But what about Morris?
The player participation report at mgoblue.com shows Gordon participated on the Special Teams.
Yeah, I agree. The conference leader in interceptions sucks. Let's kick him off the team.
I believe he is also third in Division I in interception return yards and tied for second on the team in pass breakups as well. Unacceptable, right?
I really don't understand why people would throw statements like "he's not good" out there without checking their numbers first.
The numbers you checked don't prove him as an elite cornerback. He's looked mediocre this year.
What's your point? Should we bench every player who's not elite?
My point is don't give me bullshit statistics that paint him in a different light than the product on the field. I never said he should be benched, learn to read.
you did invent the argument that someone said he is elite. Youre the only one who said that, the argument was whether "he's not very good" and the stats referenced certainly provide a rebuttal to that.
So maybe lecturing people on careful reading shouldn't come from you
Again, what's your point? Statistics are statistics. You can't argue with them.
You were presented with statistics. Now make a point, or stop whining about people using statistics to argue against stupidity.
You thinking he's looked mediocre doesn't explain him getting benched for freshmen, either.
Who said anything about being elite? And by the way, in case you haven't noticed, we don't have ANY elite players.
Uhm, the man who rattled off useless statistics that place him as tops in Big Ten/NCAAF.
Some guy said Countess should be benched.
I said he leads the conference in interceptions, and therefore, he should probably not be benched.
Nowhere did anyone say he's "elite" or "above criticism" or "the best corner in the conference" or "an All-American" or a "first round draft pick." You were given statistics, jumped to a conclusion about those statistics, and then got pissed when the conclusion you jumped to was a dumb one.
-1. Redundant. Not insightful.
about the players. Do not question the coaching staff, Dave Brandon, or oppose anything about the program. You will be tasered if you disagree with what the Michigan football program is doing or demand to know anything about anyone within Michigan football.
Do not freak about when an insanely young teams loses a couple of games.
players isn't an excuse. Other teams win with young players. Put down the kool aid.
Hell no. I just made some purple and the glass goes down when all the purple is in my belly.
NEGATIVE RUSHING IN 2 STRAIGHT GAMES!!!! in what reality is that ok for any team at any level?
Channing stribling that's why
Stribling was responsible for Kenny Bell gaining an extra 20 yards on that 4th-and-2.
Well, maybe not entirely responsible, seeing as Josh Furman basically let himself get pushed 20 yards downfield.
Go look at my comments about Stribling after the PSU game. He's awful. And if he's the best freshmen DB we have, trust me; youth isn't the issue, talent is. He can't tackle and can't play the ball when in the air.
There isn't much more a corner is asked to do. . .
Mattison was. Corners don't decide for themselves whether to play off or press.
Mattison calls the scheme, yes, but he can't make the tackles for his players, either. Stribling could have stopped Bell for a six yard gain. Maybe Nebraska would have scored anyway but it was a pretty crucial sequence at that point in the game. It also happened right in front of me so perhaps it is burned into my brain more than it should.
Anyway, my original point wasn't to criticize but rather refute what I believed to be goblue16 saying that Countess didn't play because of Stribling's superior performance, to which I disagree.
