What do you want to see from the spring game?

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on

Obviously number one on anyone's list is no injuries but I like that Harbaugh has gone live with everyone as there is no two hand touch in the fall. After that, I'm going to go with

1. quarterbacks connecting with receivers. As long as JOK and Speight don't look like Sheridan and Threet, I'll be pleased since I think we can be very good even with a game managing qb.

2. Wide receiver depth. Will Drake Harris finally emerge? Will Ahmir Mitchell play well for a freshman?

3. Will Tyrone Wheatley JR live up to his spring hype?

4. Jabrill Peppers at LB. I'm guessing this gets shelved until the season so nobody gets ae on it.

5. Offensive line getting push. We have a great DL even though we're without Glasgow and Gary so as long as we're not getting stoned on every run and get some good runs I'll be encouraged.

6. A reasonably full stadium. With colder weather, M14 construction, being on a weekday etc. I think that it will be very sparsely populated. We probably won't get 60K again this year but hopefully we don't have a completely empty stadium for recruits.

Any others?

I think the alternative would be a younger guy who didn't start, but there's something to be said for having a guy back there who knows how to play in front of 110k+ and doesn't fumble. The risk of fumbles is worse than injuries IMO. Also, as a smaller corner, it helps for Lewis to have some other talents on display weekly for the NFL scouts.

We will miss Houma. That guy kinda rewrote the book on what a fullback could be. Anyone who says the Harbaugh offense is old school (cough, bowl game announcers) clearly aren't paying attention. Sure, it looks old school, but the concepts are extremely creative.

Are you looking for Fin and Jake in the stands?  I know you're concerned about the day/time/temp of the game will keep fans at home.

Since this Spring Game won't be a BH punting practice, I'm hoping for fans.

Our mismatched/hodgepodge 1s and 2s on oline get bearclawed to death by the dline.  Hopefully there is more depth there than we think.  For example, last year Mo Hurst giving David Dawson an atomic wedgie in front of 35,563.

April 1st is the traditional date of the annual Hash Bash.

I'm afraid some will be getting stoned, despite the wishes of the OP.

No injuries, good QB play, a few holes in the run game. I know the defense is going to be elite so if the offense has any life I'll be ecstatic. Won't panic if they're getting hammered though.

Even higher TV ratings and attendance so the haters of this practice time will STFU and stop complaining.

John O'Korn taking command.

I am sure he is improving and can fill in during certain spots, butI don't ever want to watch a Michigan Football game where Speight is leading the charge.

His time against Ohio State was cringeworthy, the ending to the Minnesota was painful to watch and without the Peppers return to make the field short, we almost certainly lose.

1.) my fellow alumni and friends...

2.) my children back in the stadium.

I have yet to see a spring game shed any true light on anything of merit... ever...

I think it's going to be an extremely long day for the quarterbacks. I expect Mo Hurst, Wormley, and Taco to get after the offensive line pretty much all night. Hurst has basically been in the backfield in 0.7 seconds every time we've seen them live this spring.
