What do you want to see out of the 2014 Spring Game?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Welp, with another amazing Basketball season in the books and having 24 hours to reflect on it, I'm ready to move on and have the spring sports quench my thirst for Michigan Athletics.

The warm weather today in SE Michigan has caused me to bitten by the Football bug.

Yesterday I was dreading the fact of going to watch a glorified practice on Saturday, but the weather looking good (knock on wood) for the day and the Lacrosse game after have me in good spirits on the matter.

What do you want to see out of the spring game to send you home happy/make you happy?

  • NO INJURIES
  • Run the football for positive yards
  • A good OL combo that can keep me from waking in a cold sweat during the summer worrying about this upcoming 2014 season.
  • An effing pass rush. PLEASE?! (no hitting the QBs, obviously)
  • Catch the football

For those who ask the annual question "will this be a spring game?". Nope. Hoke said it's going to more of a practice. Again. For the 13th(?) year in a row due to depth issues.

I'd like to see some kind of scoring system. RR's spring "games" had a way where the defense could score points, but nobody could figure it out since the ADept didn't bother telling us.

I'd like to see some kind of scoring system so I can be more entertained.

You?

It's impossible to tell just how good they are going against each other.

Does a successful pass rush mean our DL is awesome, or does it mean our OL sucks? If our RBs are peeling off big chunks of yardage, does that mean they're Heismans in waiting, or does it mean our DL and LBs stink?

We won't know until opening day. Everything we hear until then is suspect hype and argle-bargle.

Male and female, because I am fair. I would like free popcorn, beer sales, to see them club people that don't cheer, and to see Hoke fire the team up. I am tough on Hoke, but am hoping Nussmeier was the answer. I also hope Harbaugh comes soon just in case.

1. A run game. --- I know we can pass the ball (even with a new OC and young receivers) but I just want to see D. Green & Smith rush for a few runs of preferably 8+ yards.

2. A pass rush. --- like I said, if we can't get the home run I'm cool with that. In fact I we do try to air it out deep several times I hope at least a couple times the D line gets close to tagging DG. I really hope it's from a guy like Taco but that may be getting too picky.

3. No ACL injuries --- as long as there are no ACL tears or major injustices I will be a happy camper.

It's spring practice with a new OC. The D should be light years ahead of the O. If it is not then I will be concerned. If I see the secondary get burned badly then I will have an idea if what to expect come fall. Overall, I just hope for competition and energy, while remaining healthy.

The O-Line to look at least competent, the D-Line showing some semblance of a pass rush, Gardner looking comfortable in Nuss' system, and someone besides Funchess stepping up and catching the ball.

1. Hoke in a jacket
2. 40 year old men taking pictures of 17 year old recruits
3. I'm definitely checking on the pad level of the defensive tackles
4. I want to see SEC speed
5. Expectations for the position being met

2) Kate Upton in a UM cheerleading outfit, or a USC outfit, or any outfit.

3) Free Molsons and Oberon for the first 10,000 fans.

4) Brady Hoke not beginning a sentence with , "Well,..."

5) Brandon saying our 2014 schedule is really an April Fool's joke and we will have replaced Miami, OH with Miami, Fl and Rutgers with Texas.

Hoke stated that getting as many rep as possible not depth is the reason that this is a practice and not a scrimmage.

Therefore I'd like to see.

A demonstration of the up tempo practice we've been hearing about.

See the oline demonstrate that they understand and can execute their jobs in the new offense at game speed.

RB's both hit some holes for good yardage and execute their blocking assignments.

Devin being healthy and hitting some passes into coverage.

A pocket that lasts more than 3 seconds.

The defense showing that they've adjusted to their new assignments and able to play at game speed.

A pass rush.

Good coverage deep.
