What do you think lies in the future for Hoke?

Submitted by taistreetsmyhero on

Assuming the inevitable happens after this season, where do you think Hoke will wind up in the coming years? He's already had his shot at his dream job, but do you think he will still have the fire/passion to coach again some place else? Will he settle into a DC position or DL position at a top school?

Takes a year off, then takes the HC job at Ohio (not that Ohio). The greatest thing ever. Also the perfect place for him. Solich just turned 70.

Hoke has a lot of friends in the coaching community, and they can understand where he's coming from. He can get a job if he wants one. It's more of a question of what he wants to do.

I don't really see him in the NFL.

Having some modicum of success somewhere else to the point were people will question wtf is wrong with Michigan that no one is able to succeed as a HC at the school.

is $6 milliion. Michigan we'll have to buy out two years of salary on Hoke's contract if he's fired. I suspect that he will get a job coaching at a smaller school or possibly becoming a position coach again. In any case, he is well-situated for the immediate future.

I could see him as an NFL assistant or a major college program assistant.  I'm sure one of the mid-majors or smaller schools who saw his success at that level would be happy to have him as an HC.  I don't see him progressing back to major college HC anytime soon though.

he is best suited as a position coach, the HC thing just seems too much for him.  I would hate to see him go to EMU, that seems to be where college coaches go to die.  Maybe another MAC school or back to the West Coast.  I'm sure someone in the WAC or somewhere will be looking for a coach.  He might be best served to take a year off and collect his thoughts and plans

DL coach, probably for the Ravens and then maybe a head coach somewhere in the MAC or MWC, if not at the FCS level in a couple of seasons time.

No NFL - Caoch Hoke's style won't work there.  He's a Dad, mentor, maker of young men.  NFL Millionaires don't play that.

No radio or TV - I think someone floated that as a joke.  I see what you did there - LOL.

I think any program in the land would take him as a DL Coach in a heartbeat,  He can recruit big uglies and/or skill players as good as anyone.  He will not have a problem getting a new gig as a MAC level head Coach, but he is only a DL Coach in major programs.

A tip of the hat to the blog for being kinder to Coach Hoke.  He has failed, but he gave us everything he has, he has always tried to be first class, always put the program before himself.  He is a wonderful M man, but not an M head Coach.  I wish him sucess and good fortune in the future.

Hoke isn't cut out for TV or radio. Lovable personality, sure, but he doesn't come across as the brightest crayon in the box. I doubt he'd want to take any kind of NFL position. He wants to work with college kids, and I doubt NFL players would respond very well to his style anyway.

My guess is takes a year to recollect himself, lick his wounds, and then takes either a D-Line coaching position at a high-end school, or goes to take a HC position in either the MWC or the AAC. But I could see him getting a D-Line coaching job at a top-level program. He can obviously recruit, and I think if he gets the chance to focus solely on what he's good at, he could be a really good hire somewhere.

I really believe he could get a head coaching job at a lower tier power conference school. He recruits well, does things the right way, and could probably get some of those schools to a higher level in time.

My hope is he's our coach.

In order of likelihood: 1. Stays on as something in the AD. 2. Never coaches again. 3. Head coach in the MAC. 4. DL coach in the NFL. Number 4 is weird. He is really not an NFL guy. He's college to the core; teaching kids, very rah-rah. But he is a great DL coach, so its interesting that his coaching strength and his personality don't mesh for what might be a perfect job.

If the new coach will want Hoke sticking around. I doubt it, plus I don't think Hoke would stay even if the new coach wanted him as the new DL coach. The only coach that manages to survive is Fred Jackson. I'm thinking Jackson is going to retire when Hoke gets fired.

DL coach at a big time program in a Power 5 conference or he'll head to the NFL. With the way he has handled injuries and his mediocre record, I cannot see any school giving him a head coaching job.

He has shown that he does not have the talent level to coach at major football University. Everyone in life has to know their limits. I wanted to be a computer software engineer but opted for ME, since I knew I was not a top programing guru. I wish Hoke all the best at his future coaching endeavors!

The moment I saw him wearing black pants with the colors of the Wolverines.. Where was his wife when he made this fashion blunder?? Then!.. He even got Jim Brandstatter to participate! I knew we were in trouble.

Brady Hoke is Gerry Faust - a nice guy who got his dream job and was way out of his league when he got there. I see Hoke going the Faust route - heading back to a place like Akron, spending 6-7 years there and then heading off into the sunset.

Then get back into coaching somewhere as a D-Line coach.  It's what he does best and there's no shame in that.  If he wants to get an HC job again, he'd be lucky to get another FBS job.

I hope we annihilate Maryland, Ohio, and Texas in a bowl game, which leaves him back as our head coach next year. If not, I hope he is offered the co-defensive coordinator position with mattison, though I doubt he would accept it. Then again, if it's JH, it's possible. JH, Mattison, BH all have long standing connections. I believe there is a good chance he is coaching IU in 2016.
