No way I'm letting anything happen to that ball. If I could it would get the same type of climate/pressure/environment controls NASA gives a moon rock.

No, but seriously, my Charles Woodson autographed football. Unfortunately, it's a Raiders silver and black football, but still it was free and it's Charles Woodson.

Speaking of Tyrone...

I teach at a HS in Toledo and he came on a recruiting trip while working with Eastern. I was walking to the office one day when I noticed a huge dude walking around aimlessly. Long story short, I pointed him in the right direction while stating that he looked familiar, which he denied. When I persisted, he claimed "I played a little college football." We talked about random UM related topics and he gave me an autograph with #6 and Go Blue! on it. Plus I stole the school's visitor login sheet with his name on it. Good day at work.

Hail, Yes!

Even though the freep is now made up of no talent ass clowns, I have the paper from them after Michigan won the 1998 Rose Bowl with the headline Hail, Yes! and a picture of Woodson on the front page.  I also have the Detroit News paper from that game as well.

I have the Michigan Daily

from the first day it was printed after the '98 Rose Bowl.  I actually snagged a bunch of them.  I still have about a dozen packed away, full newspaper, complete with crossword.  I might be able to be persuaded to get rid of them.

I have the 1969 game edition.

There were two newspapers I saved.  The 1969 M-OSU game, and "Man Walks on Moon."  Relatively equivalent events.

UM football history

My brother snagged some artificial turf from M Stadium when they converted to grass before converting back to turf. He gave me a square inch for Christmas.

I have an autographed program with Bo's autograph on it, plus several players and Ron Kramer.

I was at Bo's first Rose Bowl win. I don't have any souvenir's from that, only memories.

My Dad has a game program collection. He has something like 25 years worth of game programs, home and away. Every game, we'd buy two programs and he'd wrap them up in black plastic garbage bags just in case it rained. He kept one for himself, and donated a set to some auction every year.

He also collected all of his ticket stubs with the idea of one day putting them all up on the wall. He hasn't got to that yet, but I always thought that was a cool idea.

Signed picture

from Forest Evashevski's personal scrapbook.  My history teacher in HS was his daughter.  She knew what a fan I was and asked him for a memento.  He took an original picture out of his own scrapbook and signed it personally to me.  It's an incredible treasure to me.

I didn't know who that was. Looked it up...That's really cool. Thanks for leading me to a little more knowledge about our wolverines.

That's so cool that he got the picture out of his own scrap book.

From his Wikipedia page

On another occasion, Evashevski shocked both his coach and teammates by lighting a victory cigar on the sidelines with thirty seconds to play in a 1939 win over Ohio State

Bad Ass.

"Bo To Import Old Staff From Miami"

That's terrible, the arrogance to think you shouldn't just use all the coaches that were already there. Who would do such a thing?

Next you're going to tell me that Bo forced players to do things his way, instead of adapting to what their skills were and doing what they were used to.

Of course, Bo may have needed

Of course, Bo may have needed to adopt a different strategy had there been only 85 scholarship players per team.  1969 was still the good ol' days of unlimited roster sizes.

A few weeks ago I was looking

A few weeks ago I was looking for some stuff in my parent's attic; found a box of dishes, wrapped in the front page of the press the day after Michigan beat tOSU in '97. The one with Sir Charles with the rose in his teeth. I nearly wept.

I do have some pictures from taking a tour of Schembechler Hall after the Illinois game; the weight room, practice fields, film theater, lounge and locker room, etc. Including one of a friend's son in front of Denard's locker with his practice helmet on. Did anyone else know that the QB's under RR wore helmet cameras to see where they were looking when making reads? Kinda cool. While we were there, someone had left a helmet on one of the med tables that had what looked like signatures from every player. I'm not a thief, but if I thought I could've gotten away with it I would've robbed it. Shame almost everyone was gone, but we did meet Ray Vinopal. Nice kid. Small little dude, but nice.

Other than that, I've got tickets and "Beat USC" towels from the '07 Rose Bowl, (makes panda sad) but my favorite is a mini football signed by Denard and Roy Roundtree. Not that I would sell it, but that was another reason I was nervous about Robinson transferring.

Turf

I kept grass that I "borrowed" from the field after the 1997 OSU victory. I held onto it for years until I eventually got rid of it.

I think michgoblue still has some in his fridge if I'm not mistaken.

That reminds me

I DO have a "Student Section" sign I found in storage at the back of Savage Hall from Toledo's Glass Bowl, which had broken and somebody had tossed into the dumpster back there, but having never gone to M, I was never able to accumulate stuff like that.

A photo in my grandfather's photo album from 1904

My granddad attended UM from 1901 to 1905, and he got to witness the first four seasons of Yost's tenure. One of the photos in his photo album (taken by a commerical photographer, not my granddad) from the time is a shot taken from the sidelines of the November 1904 game with Chicago in Ann Arbor. Many of the players are blurry, but Germany Schulz clearly stands out.

Bo Schembechler passed away. I bought a copy of the Free Press with Bo's beautiful face gracing the cover and put it under my mattress in Alice Lloyd Hall. I like to think that it is still there - protecting whoever is sleeping in that gross, uncomfortable bed.

There Is Extreme Jealousy

Pouring out of my Maize and Blue soul right now. See, this is the stuff my generation will probably never ever get to experience. There is no way in hell that UM security, event staff or AA police will let students just haul around a goalpost looking for a hacksaw nowadays. <sigh> Those were (or rather, must have been) the days.

Yes, we routinely did things

Yes, we routinely did things as "college fun" that are now considered criminal acts.  I don't mean anything violent or harmful, of course.  I will say that A2 police beat us up pretty badly while we were pulling it down.  I got smashed across the ribs while hanging from the crossbar.  Luckily, I was well medicated.  Once it was down, they let us (a mob of about 100) make off with it.   Sorry for the hyper-litigious society we've become.

My Uncle took me to the MSU game in 1972, I was 9 years old!  The year before I became a big Michigan fan.  It was better than Christmas Eve, I couldn't sleep the night before the game. I remember it was a very low scoring defensive struggle and we won 10 to 3 ? or 10 to zip!

Wow ... I have all kinds ...

of ticket stubs plus photos from games / tailgating, etc., but actual "memorabelia" includes a Michigan pennant signed by Marlin Jackson & a Michigan baseball bat.

The bat is from 1962 - 1965 (can't remember the exact year... remember Bill Freehan?).  I was in elementary school and after school in the spring I would walk to the baseball diamond to watch the games.  I loved baseball back then & after being there so often, the team actually asked me to be their bat boy ....  it was soooooo cool !!!  In one game a bat was splintered (piece came off the barrel).  I took the bat and piece home and using whatever nails I could find, I re-attached the splintered piece.  Now nearly 50 years later I still have that bat .... a Mickey Mantle signature with University of Michigan branded into the barrel.  Though its technically worthless ... I will always treasure it !!!!

Go Blue !

Is that an authentic,

some good ones out there

I like a lot of the ones that some of you have and am a little jealous on a few of them.  I have a ton of autographed pics on the walls (Carter, Harmon, Brady, Kramer, Leach, etc..) and I am attempting to obtain a ticket stub from every year since 1900 (which is crazy hard and expensive) but I would have to say my favorite things are probably the 1916 ticket stub book with only 1 game missing and a record with the recording of Bo's upset win against OSU.

Where do I start

Number one would be a Charles Woodson signed helmet.  I got to meet him his rookie year in the NFL at a charity function.  Number 2 would be a picture that Bo sighed for me of him and his defensive lineman.  Last but not least is a shoe that Desmond Howard wore and signed his Heisman season.  I have many more but those are the three most prized possesions from my collection.

I have all my ticket stubs

I have all my ticket stubs saved from the last 10 years.  04-MSU and 05-PSU are always in the front.

My "Tales from Michigan Stadium" book signed by Jim Brandstatter.  I have a 1997 National Championship football with all scores listed on it but it's not signed by anybody.

I have Bo's autograph framed even though it's not to me.  My mom ran in to him in the waiting room of a Lansing hospital in 1987.  Bo was there for a checkup and he was in the waiting room reading a magazine.  My mom went up to him and asked for his autograph and he couldn't have been nicer.  Unfortunately, the only color pen my mom had on her was Buckeye red.  So Bo wrote to my dad, "To Rich, best wishes and go blue!  (not red!)"

Even though it was signed to my dad, I stole it several years ago.

Yeah, I pitch the stubs from losses.  This is a recent development.

I used to have an 18-0 record at the Big House.  Then I went to the App State game in 2007.  And my record is 2-4 since.

Got a sweet photograph

Got a sweet photograph of my Dad goin' 'round end (a la Ron Kramer) from his stint on the '56 freshman squad. I'm not quite advanced enough to be able to post it. No autograph yet, I'll get it tomorrow.

Or I can ask him to sign his two All-American awards from his second sport - hockey.

Yes, I live vicariously through my Dad.

Not too much - just some old game programs (and Michigan Football Guides - I miss those) and ticket stubs.  Also, I have a couple replica posters of game programs - including from the 1927 OSU game (dedication of the stadium).

michigan treasures

I have an authentic Michigan helmet signed Charles Woodson Heisman 97. Also a number five signed by Lamarr woodley. A Charles Woodson signed 8x10 on the punt return against that school in Ohio. Several programs and the tickets from Denard Robinsons record breaking game against Wisc. I treasure them all.

A 7-foot length of Michigan

A 7-foot length of Michigan Stadium bleacher acquired out of a dumpster during renovations about five years ago.  Ever tried walking in the snow back to the dorm carrying a 7-foot length of bleacher?

Also have, in jars, clumps of turf from Michigan Stadium in '97, Spartan Stadium in '05, Notre Dame Stadium in '06, the '07 Rose Bowl, and the '08 Capital One Bowl.

A Wheatley jersey.  It's one

A Wheatley jersey.  It's one he didn't wear, but it is the real deal.  I also have a game worn one from Jeff Potts (backup tackle) in '98.

My second favorite would be a postcard of Michigan Stadium from 1927.  The lady who originally sent it wrote "what a great plave to watch a game" in the margin under the picture.  It's not worth much, but still rings true 84 years later.

A brick from Yost, personally stolen by me after a part of the facede near the roof collapsed due to snow buildup two years ago. I got a good scare walking back with it when an AAPD car turned its lights and siren on as it pulled up near me, but he was pulling a car over. Nearly crapped my pants.

I

I have a copy of 'Man In Motion', the autobiography written by Bo with Joe Falls in the early 1970s. Like in Year 5 or 6 or Bo's tenure. I'd have to look up the year.

It's my grandfather's book. And he had it signed by both authors during what must have been some sort of Christmas signing, gathering

Bo wrote: "To Mac, Have A Go Blue Christmas"

Falls wrote: "And Boo On The Bucks"

good grief, i wrote a book report on this when i was in the 7th grade in 1984. lol

Commemorative Wheaties box with Michigan Wolverines on it after the NCAA 1997 Football Championship.

Commemorative issue of Sports Illustrated after 1997 Football Championship.

FYI,

One of the guys at my office once attended a garage sale at Bo's house. Unfortunately, I found out about it after the fact. From what I heard the coolest thing there was a wolverine pelt for sale for $250. Since wolverines are endangered species you had to have a special permit to have such an item. My coworker bought some glasses, how boring.

Some pretty neat stuff here

I have a lot of stuff that's been listed here. But two of the more unusual items I have is a Michigan Marching Band Feather Plume I found outside the parking lot in Markley and my copy of Bo's Lasting Lessons signed by John Bacon. He wrote "To a True Blue Michigan Man and Leader!" There is nothing like listening to John Bacon tell stories about Bo for an hour and getting your "Michigan Man" endorsement from the man himself.

Great Thread

I have a lot of possessions, but the two that mean the most to me are pictures of my son at the Big House.  One during spring fan day at the age of probably 4, in full UM football gear, after playing football on the field for a while, I got a great pic of him in the endzone celebrating a touchdown.  The other pic is at about age 7, just before we left the country.  He's on the top row of the stadium, smiling ear to ear with Nixonesque double peace sign, with the massive stadium behind him.

These two pictures hold great memories for me, and my son and I like to look at them and remember home.

...and Mr. Woodson which is on his bedroom wall:

http://www.fathead.com/college/michigan-wolverines/charles-woodson-michigan/

Go Blue.

Not a tangible item but

years ago (and I'm talking maybe 1980 when I was a teenager), I literally walked into what is now Schembechler Hall and made it all the way to Bo's secretary. I told her I was a fan and asked if Coach was around because I wanted to say hi. That's the only reason I gave - I wanted to say hi (the idiocy of this now, in retrospect, is overwhelming). Sadly Bo wasn't in but I asked if I could see the office and she said yes. Unbelievable. So I got to poke around Bo's office  for a few minutes which was totally f*****g cool. It was an awesome enough experience that I probably could have somehow parlayed it into getting laid. Didn't happen but I'm working on a revisionist history of my life (now that I'm a sad, married, middle-aged cog in the machine who still doesn't get laid) in which I bang all manner of chicks back at the dorm after regaling them with my tall tales of adventure. Ahh, to be young again....

Free Press from my birth date + Sod

We beat OSU and that was on the front page.  Plus, Anwar Sadat became the first because the first Arab leader to visit Israel, seeking a peace settlement.  There was a little snippet about ABC cutting away for his plane landing, setting off tons of phone calls into the radio station.

Plus, when we beat OSU in '97 I took some sod and saved it in a plastic bag.

I have quite a few items.

I have quite a few items. Desmond signed jersey, a few photos signed by Charles Woodson, Tom Harmon and Gerald Ford signed index cards. My favorite football item has to be this signed lithograph of Bo Schembecher of the celebration after the 1969 OSU win. I still have to get it framed. I don't have a pic of mine, but here is one on ebay. I only have Bo's autograph on mine. I'm not sure if I should add guys on it, or leave it with just Bo.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360328867066&hlp=false&rvr_id=199034176672&crlp=1_263602_304652&UA=%3F*I8&GUID=87e4e06c12d0a06c1b73c833fff81b47&itemid=360328867066&ff4=263602_304652

Not football, but I also have signed 8x10's of each member of the Fab Five. Webber's autograph is not pretty.

Also, from the old scoreboards, I have the 'OHIO STATE' that they would slide into the board (it's like 15 feet long).

Interesting enough, they're double-sided and the other side says 'SOUTH CAROLINA' (who last visited Ann Arbor in 1985)
