Nuss would fit well with Harbaugh and what he wants to run offensively. If Jim does come, I doubt Greg Roman follows. He has had numerous interviews for head coaching jobs in the past, and I think he will get one sooner rather than later.

Roy Manning has to stay. Hes a dynamite recruiter. Put him back at linebackers where he knows the position or make him RBs coach and have him recruit his tail off.

Mattison wont come back, nor do I think Harbaugh would ask him to. He has had Fangio as his DC since Stanford. I think he will join Jim in Michigan.

Maybe Hoke will beg to stay in Ann Arbor back at his old DL position. Other than that, I think thats all of the staff that would be kept.

This. I don't know if Nuss will or deserves to stay. But my reading of the things that have and haven't changed since Borges left leads me to this very conclusion. I do think Hoke has imposed constraints on Nuss.

Some things really were Borges' fault. The OL is nowhere near the tire fire it was LY. Run plays mate better with pass plays. Borges' twisted take on base/counter/counter-counter basic theory exists no more.

But other things really do have Hoke's imprint on them. Like the execution (and as John McKay said, I'm in favor of it) of our 2-minute Chinese fire drill.

Green improved from last year to this year before getting injured.

And Manning, as I said, should go back to being a LBs coach or move to RBs coach where he can just recruit, recruit, recruit.

Most the position coaches will be gone. Im simply pointing out that guys like Nuss and even Manning were put in no win situations. Nuss be unable to make any further changes to the offensive staff beyond Borges, and Manning being put to coach a position he never coached before.

Keep Brady Hoke

Think about it people. The Minnesota game is being used as a basis for most people wanting to fire Hoke. Minnesota is a great team, and is on the verge of making the B10 Championship game. We need to realize this, and give Hoke the extra year he deserves.

Clean sweep, not out of vindictiveness or lack of appreciation that a few of the staff are indeed talented.  We need all new coaches for reasons having to do with team culture. Both recruits and existing players absolutely must buy into the newness of the coaching regime and the necessity of breaking clear from the past.  Otherwise past team cultural negatives will contaminate the program and we'll end up right where we are today with lethargy, brain farts, disorganization, cliques and favoritism, and bad behavior.  0.02

There is not one position group that is doing well on the team.

However, the only guy I'd like fired yesterday is Fred Jackson. The guy is a waste of space and turns 5* backs into 3rd string seniors.

You make some good points about breaking from the past, but there is something to be said about continuity as well. Assisstant coaches come and go, some will be great, some not so, that is why there is so much turnover from year to year. Fred Jackson worked out well for many years, and maintained a continuity that has linked five coaches over the years, although he has sucked for about the last ten years, he is also partly responsible for Mike Hart, Anthony Thomas, Tsmanga Biakabutuka, and a host of others.

The sole reason our defense is not toasted for 40+ a game is because everyone playing us knows the most conservative offensive plan imaginable will score enough to beat Michigan.  I hate to say it but I will be pleasantly surprised if we stay within 35pts next week.  Sad where the expectations have gone.  tuoos will show no mercy.

What is the likelihood that anyone is retained from the current staff? I am going to say that it would be exceedingly slim at best. If indeed we are dealing with a new coach in the near future, I would almost rather we got a fresh start, but if they found value in keeping anyone from the present staff, I don't know that I would complain depending on who we're discussing, but a fresh start is probably a good idea about now.

Feel like it's some kind of prophetic mandate that you must keep Fred Jackson, lest he reveal where that graveyard is where they buried all the recruits they lost to Ohio State.

Now I've said too much.

Not just ability. Connections and relationships.

RR came from WVU but retained Fred Jackson. Not because Fred Jackson is particularly talented a la recruiting as opposed to anyone else, but because Fred Jackson has tons of recruiting connections and relationships from years on staff.

I would be surprised if the new HC kept any unless the assts he wants just are not available next season. This staff has a stink of losing that's hard to get rid of.

Full enema needed.  Coming into the season I though Heck was our best position coach but damn everyone is dropping balls now from Funch to Darboh to Canteen - Chesson has disappeared.  Yes the QB is an issue but he is delivering some balls that are just plain being dropped - repeatedly.  And aside from Chesson they block terribly.  And many seem to be running bad routes.

Manning for the swag I guess.

But really we dont see what goes on day to day behind the scenes, and the new coach will bring in whatever guys he wants.  Who deserves to stick around? Very few if any.

Another reason to hope for Harbaugh is he doesnt do favorites, grandfathering or any of these things Hoke is doing.  If you don't perform you will be gone within a year or two max.  He has stated himself you cannot have a single weak link on your staff.  It's not a place to park long time servants to the university - they can go do what DeBord is doing or go fill the staff in the AD that has grown (via cost) by 70% in 4 years.

Cheating players of their full potential has to end.
