What are the chances Wormley commits this weekend?
Why? He knows all of this stuff. These kids know what is going on much more that you and I do? Why would you talk to him about committing or anything relating to it, I just don't get it. If you want to ask him something just ask him how the process is going or something of that nature.
Your proposed situation of talking to him about committing or talking to him about the class filling up would be like me walking up to Albert Pujols and telling him to resign a deal with the Cardinals because the market for an injured player who is showing signs of decline is not as high as it was at the beginning of the season. A.) It's all speculation B.) He knows this.
Wormley is informed, as are all the kids UM is recruiting. If you get the chance to meet him and speak to him, don't waste your breathe on telling him what to do with his life. Ask him about what he thinks of UM, offer up some little known facts about the school. Let him see the UM faithful as an understanding bunch of people, but passionate about our school. Don't let him think we are pushing people who will turn on him if he doesn't commit. Leave the hardcore recruiting to the professionals.

I am thinking his comment was laced with sarcasm. That is how I took in anyway due to the "up in his grill" comment.

Sam Webb Hinted on yesterdays show that we should not be on commitment watch for any of these guys this weekend. Although anything can happen when a kid gets on campus, and Michigan is in good shape for both of them, he doesn’t believe that a commitment is likely this weekend. Personally I say why not! Bring on the Worm!!!
Ask Steven Elmer's father if he as done an equation on the statistical chances of him committing this weekend. If so, he should be able to answer your question.

Yeah I dunno why Wormley is dragging out his recruitment. Normally kids want to see other schools and enjoy the recruitment process, but outside of UM, MSU, and OSU offers, Wormley's offer list isn't all that. OSU is in flames and Wormley has never mentioned MSU, so what are we missing here? Where is Wormley gonna visit, Toledo? Indiana?
If his offer list is that lame, maybe UM is holding off on accepting his commitment and they want to see how the rest of recruitment plays out?

I agree If Wormley leaves with thought committing this weekend it would make a strange situation stranger. Wormley’s visit seems very similar to The Erik Magnuson visit a couple of weeks ago. Seems like if he likes what he sees than he should probably just go ahead and commit. However the powers that be believes otherwise so I don’t know; We’ll see what happens when Hoke puts the Mattison on him this weekend.
Not really the same at all. Magnuson had never visited and told Tom beforehand that he planned on committing. Wormley's been to campus loads of times and still there's no sign of an impending commitment. Wormley has to know at this point what Michigan and the coaching staff are about. Why he hasn't committed baffles me frankly.
Maybe he has committed but you just don't know about it. Sometimes kids don't commit publicly early on so that schools still come to their games during senior year and happen to see/scout teammates.
Jordan Diamond said this a while back... that he isn't going to commit early because he felt a responsibility to help his teammates get seen by scouts/coaches.
True. Brings to mind Cullen Christian who was supposedly a silent for 6 months before the saga that was his announcement. I don't know if it would be to gain exposure for teammates though, because Wormley doesn't actually have a lot of offers. He basically said early on it was either Michigan or Ohio State. Who knows. Bizarre recruitment for a kid I think we all know will eventually be blue.
Yeah that makes sense, I didn’t know that Magnuson told Tom beforehand at he would commit. Your right, that changes everything. Well here is to hoping for a good weekend.

living in ohio I would think twice about openly committing. Hell sometimes they practically make you think twice about going to The Game down there.
Meh. We're starting to get squeezed on spots and it seems like everyone in recruiting expects him to be blue so he has to pull the trigger at some point. But we've also been expecting an imminent commitment for over a year it seems. I believe Sam and Tom when they say a commitment's unlikely but I don't think it's out of the question.
So my math tells me it is 50% / 50%.
You think you've had a direct impact on recruiting by being Facebook friends with potential commits who you have never met in person? Who wouldn't recognize you if you bumped into each other on an empty sidewalk?
Brady Hoke and Greg Mattison would laugh themselves into a coronary if they read this.
I'll assume this comment is directed towards me, Don. And yes, I think I KNOW when I'm having an effect on these kids. I mean when you get responses from targets that just say "wow" about the points you've made, you'd believe it too. Trust me, I tend to have this effect on people.

Here is an example of a star players response and what it means: "WOW!"...(Why won't this person leave me alone? I am a teenager and just trying to get some girls on here. Not get recruiting advice from someone who only knows me because I *MIGHT* play football for the school they like. Get lost weirdo!)
Moral of the story just leave these kids alone, all you can possibly do is hurt the effort Hoke & Co. have put forth.
I made it for this reason: I've been following recruiting fairly closely since the early '90s. I've read and heard scores of interviews with UM commits, as well as with commits to other schools. In interview after interview, commits are asked about the factors that led them to commit to UM, or to another school. Routinely, the commits offer these reasons:
• Nature of program, especially recent success and/or tradition
• Coaching staff, including abilities to prepare for next level
• Proximity to home
• Educational opportunities
• Stadium and practice facilities
• Enthusiasm of fans on game day in stadium
In all these years, I have never once heard or read any commit say that contact from individual fans urging them to commit to a particular school has had any meaningful positive impact whatsoever on their choice. Not once. In fact, they only time they mention anything about fan impact during recruiting is in reference to negative comments by fans of a particular program after they've chosen a rival school. Hence my skepticism.
Regardless, we're rooting for the same program and school, and if your comments do have a positive effect on a particular recruit, great. Once I hear a recruit mention sales pitches from individual fans as a factor in his decision, I will gladly change my opinion.
Ok, thanks for your explanation of your reasoning and for your support Don. I just feel like I have definitely connected with sine targets, I'm really not far out of their age range and I too was recruited to play football at the collegiate level, so I can probably see where they are coming from better than most people.

You are not a coach. It is not your job to try and recruit kids. Look at the link below. It's about Ole Miss signee C.J. Johnson who if you're unfamiliar with his recruiting story, was committed to Mississippi State and decommitted citing constant pestering from Miss St. fans about his recruitment. Saying 'Go Blue!' to a kid if you happen to see him is one thing, actively trying to recruit is creepy and wrong, and can actually have a detrimental effect.
