We have been his leader for a long time now. Does anyone have any insight on whether he will commit or not this weekend?
Hoke was top notch at this aspect of his job.
I don't think anyone knows for sure. But I would say it is a strong possibility since the DL seems to be filling up pretty quickly. I'm hoping that Wormley and Kalis commit, although like Tom said below, it's doubtful that Kalis would commit this quickly as he wants to visit a few more schools. I can imagine seeing Kalis, Diamond and Magnuson on the OL in the future.
I hope at least one of these guys commits soon....I need a fix. I developed a bad recruiting habit with all of the early verbals.
we got some meat on that o-line

From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20110622/SPORTS0201/106220414/Report--Kyle-Kalis-thinks-Chris-Wormley-is-headed-to-Michigan#ixzz1Q6NXJuYl
Two coveted recruits from Ohio — five-star offensive tackle Kyle Kalis of Lakewood and four-star defensive end Chris Wormley of Toledo Whitmer — will visit Michigan's campus this weekend. But Kalis says Wormley might have already settled on a college. "The biggest thing about going to Michigan would be going against Tom (Strobel) and Chris Wormley every day (in practice)," Kalis told Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts.com. "I've pretty much come to the conclusion that Wormley is going to Michigan."
the sooner Kalis commits. The sooner Kalis commits, the better Michigans chances of landing our top OLine prospects are. I hope Strobel does end up visiting with them.
Kalis is a monster, would love not to play against that guy. Wormley seems to have so great upside as well. Both would be awesome.
Does anyone read anything TomVH posts?
Akon died? Hadn't heard that.
Maybe he meant Akins. It sounds like somethiing Claude Akins would have said.
Clay Akens? I hope not, that's someone's third cousin! :(
that Tom VH posts.
just so I get TVH's tweets. Now its really is a smart-phone.
This is one that i am fairly suprised has not happened as of yet also. Im also somewhat surprised Wilson, the safety from Ohio, has not went with the good guys too.
Pretty straightforward and sincere for Beavis. Is everything ok, man?
"This could be an interesting weekend." (Wed. 6/22/11 12:24a)
I actually feel a little bad for Wilson. Yes, this is a big decision, but it sounds like hes almost distraught over making it. He has a bunch of good options there, so I don't think he should worry too much.
I'd bet $1 on it.
I'll take that bet.
Gambling on recruiting? Great, now we're gonna be in huge trouble with the NCAA.
/Cue OSU See-everybody-breaks-the-rules-so-why-are-we-in-trouble argument.
On the bright side, this would allow TomVH and JamieMac to either join forces, or to compete head-to-head. Not sure which would be better.
On Wednesday, Sam Webb stated in his recruiting roundup segment that he did NOT think that Wormley (or Kalis) would commit to UM this weekend.
It seems odd that Wormley has not committed yet as he is reportedly down to UM and OSU with OSU fading dramatically since Tressel's "resignation".
Could be he just wants to keep the terrorist OSU fans off his back a little longer. Hard to blame him if that's the case. Those people are hideous.
This kid dominated his Sophmore year then his Jr season by many experts and from the video's posted that I saw he looked very average ..You guys are acting as if he was just dominant ...I think this guy is very over rated .. His play needs to improve vastly I think this scholarship could go to a position of need not another DE or atleast 1 who showed up his Jr year ..IMHO
All I can say is, Hoke and Co. know what they are doing. I agree, his junior film isn't quite as exciting as his sophomore film, but who knows, he could have the best year his senior year. I would be more than happy if Wormley committed.
Actually, I agree with you on Wormley, but apparently the coaches are pretty high on him. Personally, I wanted Pittman a LOT more than I want Wormley.
Pittman and Wormley are very different positions though. If you wanted Pittman, then we shouldn't have taken Mario or Pharoah. They are slotted for the rush end like Pittman. Also we still have Roh, Black, and Beyer in a log jam for that position as well. I believe Pittman's coach confirmed in an interview that UM told Pittman that we were full at that position. Looks like the first come, first served kind of bit us there.
Pittman's grades may have been the thing to bite, us or him, you can take your pick. As I understand it, there's a possibility Pittman never gets on the field.
Yeah, he deffinatly didn't perform to expectations his junior season, so this year may help to determine which season was the abberant one. The thing about Wormley is that he's a physical freak allowing for a high ceiling with the right coaching. Also with his body, he has flexibility to move inside, thus the allure with Wormley. But he's been a long time lean to us, so we have hyped him a little bit too much.
Some rumors have been that he was hampered by an injury, and if not, then he definitely has the skill to be dominant. So with our 3 defensive line coaches, he could be very good.
I'd absolutely love to get Wormley.
I've heard this too, not to mention he was 1st team all-state and defensive district player of the year.
Kenny Hayes a higher 4* DE recruit to OSU was on the team last year, and I'm pretty sure Wormley was regarded as the better player. So getting double and triple team might tend to slow down the highlight reel.
Also, he has long been rumored to be OSU or Michigan, so the big time national programs haven't even bothered. Few offers = lower rankings to recruting sites.
Ya I have heard similar things. He was mentally distracted by the injury and although he was healed he wasn't comfortable enough to go all out on the field. This isn't too surprising, happens to lots of athletes. I remember I had a spring/summer of soccer where I sprained my ankles four times (twice each). Consequently, going into my high school season I was out of shape and really hesitant about rolling my ankles. Affects your mental performance. One of my friends split his head open on a header with another guy (my friend played very physically). Took him a while to get comfortable playing with reckless abandon again (but he eventually did). Let's see what Wormley does in his senior season before we write him off.
committing together this weekend. Kalis sounded really excited about playing with Stroebel (sp?), and once he gets to campus, he could be blown away and make his decision with Wormley.
I'm REALLY hopeful for Wilson though. It is a position of great need for UM...surely he sees that (please).
Here's to a GREAT weekend for Hoke & Co. Great job guys!
strong to ... quite strong.
If he has anything left to wait for, no-one knows about it.
Is a monster. I have seen him play...if he is hurt and playing this well, OMG.
Every Ohio analyst says he is in the top few players, and that state is stacked this year. Wormley is as big a rrecruit as any we get, whether or not he has that fifth star behind his name.
I think he commits this weekend...but we shall see.
I'm going up to Michigan this weekend for a summer program for two weeks. I get there Sunday, so if he's there Sunday, I somehow run into him, and somehow recognize him, you can guarantee that I'll be all up in his grill about comitting.
How about you don't do that and let him make his decision on his own. The last thing UM needs is a fan "up in [Wormley's] grill" about committing. The University and it's programs, both athletically and academically, speak for themselves.
some UM enthusiasm and fan support are good things, I think Columbus_Wolverine was expressing concern with "...up in his grill". That doesn't exactly sound like the right way to approach it.
Correct. I also don't think it would be smart to talk to him about committing. Talk to him about the school, the program, and all things UM. Don't talk to him about committing. These kids have enough pressure on them in deciding their future for some random person they've never met to come up and tell them what they should do.
Why? He knows all of this stuff. These kids know what is going on much more that you and I do? Why would you talk to him about committing or anything relating to it, I just don't get it. If you want to ask him something just ask him how the process is going or something of that nature.
Your proposed situation of talking to him about committing or talking to him about the class filling up would be like me walking up to Albert Pujols and telling him to resign a deal with the Cardinals because the market for an injured player who is showing signs of decline is not as high as it was at the beginning of the season. A.) It's all speculation B.) He knows this.
Wormley is informed, as are all the kids UM is recruiting. If you get the chance to meet him and speak to him, don't waste your breathe on telling him what to do with his life. Ask him about what he thinks of UM, offer up some little known facts about the school. Let him see the UM faithful as an understanding bunch of people, but passionate about our school. Don't let him think we are pushing people who will turn on him if he doesn't commit. Leave the hardcore recruiting to the professionals.
Yeah, everyone loves it when random strangers come up to them on the street and tell them what to do with their lives, right?
Chill out Chet. Damn.
You all need to chill out in your reply to Mich man. It was very obvious in reading his post that his tone was very light hearted, fun, and not serious. Peace out.
I am thinking his comment was laced with sarcasm. That is how I took in anyway due to the "up in his grill" comment.
him a big Go Blue and leave it at that. Recruits seem to love it when they are recognized, but they will be creeped out if you put on the recruiting pitch. That's for the coaches to do.
take it down a notch, creeper
That's something for the coaches to do. Mind yo biz.
