What about Grant?

MSU got Madaris, but we had Darboh and Chesson higher on our list anyway. Loosing Kozan should not really matter much since we are still strongly in the mix for Diamond (knock on wood) and have a super O-Line class assembled already with Kalis, Mags, Bars, and Braden.

Hoke and Co. wrapped up all their supers early on so that they wouldn't have to worry about the core position needs closer to signing day. We have 23 commits and looking at each and every one of them, this is a class we should all be really excited for. I honestly haven't been this excited for a recruiting class since the pre RR era.

Although that does lend some credence to the interchangeable parts theory, it doesn't do much since Kozan would be a center and Diamond would be a T or maybe a G. Still doesn't change the point that taking Diamond doesn't relieve the blow of not getting a C in this class. After this season we will have a redshirt SO Miller and a true freshman (since we will get a C in the next recruiting class) as the depth chart. I guess maybe Bars could play C (an idea from Magnus).

I was told that it was likely he was deciding tonight. I never heard from those people, so the assumption is that he is not deciding tonight. It's 12:30 in the morning, the news would have been released by now.

Literally, to the Catholic Order of the Holy Cross, which runs St. Edward High School. Took the vows tonight, enrolls in the seminary tomorrow.

Boy, really not our day today, huh?

No sources or any of that bullshit...just preparing the rest of you for another day in 'Hoke & Co' couldn't close a f'ckn front door right now'.

We haven't secured anybody but a couple WRs since our amazing 11-2 season, WTF happened to our guys?!

It's a goddamn conspiracy! Everybody we've been recruiting the past few months got together and decided "hey, let's play this out for as long as possible, because fuck Michigan, that's why." Don't expect anyone else to commit, guys.

I know this guy was being a dickhead, but, Oklahoma is, indeed, a legitimate threat. Grant came away from his official visit down there extremely impressed with the Sooners. What sucks is that he's almost an afterthought for them. They alfready have 3 TE commits in their class. We need him more than they do. Unfortunately, Grant may still be a little upset over the fact that the coaches pulled his and Greg Kuhar's scholarship offers off the table back in the spring when both of them were seriously interested in Michigan.

Hopefully he comes. I know it's easy to say the sky is falling (and I've thought that a little bit too), but this class can still close out good. With him, Diamond, and Henry that's not a bad final haul. Not perfect, but we're still a Top-10 class with a good headstart on 2013

Was not a good day, but i dont think Grant cares where Kozan and Reeves went. Hopefully he decides to Go Blue tomorrow. This is still Michigan ForGodSakes!

with no additional recruits, this is a top 10 class, and we are still in the runing for a couple of guys who would put us closer to 1 than 10. Worst case, we get no one else, Hoke decides not to compromise and stands pat, and we have a couple of extra schollies for next year.

Hoke & Co started very, very fast, and very strong. Not a terrible way to go about things, and the results speak for themselves. We'll be fine. Urban is going to have a good class, but so what. Dantonio is not, because Hoke has the whiphand in the State of Michigan now.

First post, have been following mgoblog for a couple years, and visit more than i care to admit...

First of all, I love our 2012 class. If we get more commits, great, if not, i will take those who have seen the light. With that said, I would love to see what our coaching staff can do on the recruiting trail next year after a succesful first year both on the field and recruiting.

A few extra spots available next year isnt the worst thing that could happen. I am confident in team 133 and beyond.

Go Blue.

This is a top 10 recruiting class with a few big names still out there (grant, diamond, possible surprise). We addressed major needs at OL, DL, tall WR, LB and secondary. This class is loaded with headliners (kalis, Pipkins, rjs, bolden, just to name a few). And, we built up our defensive depth.

A few things to keep in mind:
1. The kids that we are missing out on are kids with huge national offer lists. Getting into their top 2-3 is a huge accomplishment for a first hear staff.

2. This is hoke's first year. Recruiting relationships are built when kids are juniors and now sometimes even earlier. See what hoke is doing with the 2013 class? All coaches do that. For 2012, he definitely got in late on almost every kid, making this class even more impressive.

3. We are already off to a great start to 2013 with some huge commits and we are in on a lot of great kids.

People need to Relax.

First two months. So one of your points is not valid. It is hugely disappointing we couldn't get the better class in the wake of Ohio's sanctions. That is the biggest point of grief. A large part of it though is the PSI debacle, which inflated the quality of Ohio's class.

These last few threads on Reeves and Kozan make me want to stop getting on mgoblog. Some of you are acting mentally challenged. And I'm not counting the trolling osu fans. We have a great class with only a few spots left. Do you really think we're going to get every kid we recruit?

The paranoia is not really about Garnett, Reeves, or Kozan. None of those guys were even on our radar a few months ago and we were perfectly happy with our recruiting class. The paranoia is about Urban Meyer.

What do Garnett, Reeves, and Kozan all have in common? They were guys that came on our radar late. When push came to shove, our late push was not enough.

The guys we had success with were guys that we were in on for months. Our 2013 class is playing out the same way, we are having success with guys we have been in on early.

However, here is where the paranoia part comes in. Urban Meyer came in late on every single recruit, yet he's picked up 11th hour guys like Reeves left and right, while we could not. Meyer has indeed plucked off elite guys, just by showing up. That sucks.

Ohio has always gotten good classes, but they have never gone from out of the top 20 to number 1 or 2 in just a few weeks in December and January. I know that the PSU meltdown is a factor, but why would a PSU kid be any more inclined to go to OSU than Michigan? There is not much of a distance factor, and atmosphere-wise I would think that Michigan is closer fit than OSU.

Am I concerned? Yeah, I'll admit I'm a little concerned. My concern is that the combination of the Urban Meyer hype + the anything goes atmosphere at Ohio State (i.e. the recruit who said he picked OSU because they don't make you go to any classes), will be tough to keep pace with. Nick Saban North.

My hope is that the shiny-object phenomenom that is Urban Meyer will fade once he is just the coach of Ohio State and not the new SEC coach from Florida. He'll still do well recruting, but he won't get 4/5 *'s to change their lives plans just by showing up. I recognize that this is just a hope.
