Wetzel callout on presser BS - MGoBlog mentioned

Submitted by BornInAA on

Perhaps even more troubling, or indicative of how Michigan athletics is operating, is that on Monday afternoon, nearly 48 hours after this incident, Hoke said he still hadn't discussed it with his boss, athletic director Dave Brandon.

Not at all? How is that possible?

Got the name of the blog wrong, though.

But the answer to the question: either DB and Hoke are totally on the same page, or Hoke just told a fib so he wouldn't have to answer a zillion follow-up questions about what they discussed.

Exactly the question that we all have been asking?

How do the athletic director and the head football coach NOT speak.  This is National Fucking News!!!

Hoke looks silly with that comment and makes Brandon look out of touch.

Whatever, even if I agree with the premise of his article, his consistent terribleness and the fact that he can't get "MGoBlog" correct (mentioned fan blog "MGoBlue", not this esteemed site) and can't link to it is just another reason Brian doesn't want to be associated with hacks like him.

I said Saturday evening that Hoke would have some big questions to answer to Brandon and possibly to the B1G and NCAA.  Playing a concussed player is the kind of trouble that brings investigations. How on earth has Hoke not been proactive and spoken to his boss about the situation?

Brandon will have questions to answer to the university administration and likely the B1G and NCAA.  How on earth has Brandon not asked the head coach for his perspective on it?

Failures all around.

Saturday night the Hoke and Nuss were yelling at each other in the lockeroom with Brandon present.

We don't know what they were talking about, but again I don't see how its possible they didn't at some point address it.

Brady Hoke isn't allowed to issue a statement without Brandon's approval.  If Brandon approved, they talked about it.  If Brandon allowed Hoke or made Hoke issue a statement without any statement of his own he is just trying to distance himself to save his own ass.

with the football program, as many on here claim, or should we be mad at Brandon for not being involved enough in the program, as we apparently should be now?

Brian just touched on this on twitter but this isn't about involvement in the program.

This is a PR issue as it relates to Brandon. His department is under a national microscope and his choice to lead the biggest sport is getting put through the ringer. AND HE'S GONE. He hasn't made any type of public comment since Saturday.

You would think that in a PR debacle, the head of the athletic department and former CEO of a large company would you know, be somewhere doing something...

If my brother-in-law were on all the major sports outlets and the Today show etc. because he blew up his grill by trying "Grey Goose Bottle Chicken" instead of "Beer Can Chicken", I'd call him and talk to him.

But, hey your top employee of your major millions $$ program is basically being accussed of negligently causing brain damage to a college kid - well, what ever bro, I'll talk to him at the weekly luncheon.

This would be so much better if Hoke would just say hey, I wish we would have caught what the cameras had caught, and taken him out of the game for evaluation.

All last week I was wondering when Brandon was going to make a public statement about faith in the program. After Saturday's game I kept wondering where Brandon was with his public statement. As the media started to latch on to the Shane Morris incident, I thought, for sure Brandon will make his public statement about the program making sure they are doing what is right by the kids. I watched a presser in real time today to see Brandon stand up and make a comment before Hoke had to meet with the media.

At this point I have to believe Brandon is putting a barrier between himself and Hoke in the effort to somehow try and save his own job. He's basically letting Brady hang in the wind (and Brady is doing a pretty good job of hanging himself) to make sure he has an excuse once Brady is fired as to why he should be retained. Other than utter incompetence, I have no other explination for Brandon's comlete silence the last two weeks, and especially, the past 48 hours.

It is not possible that Hoke and Brandon never have discussed the incident.

Hoke is lying to the media, once again.

Brandon appears to be hiding from the media and throwing Hoke out there.  How gutless, and stupid.  Hoke is a bumbling imbecile.
