Week 6: Best thing you saw

Submitted by mi93 on

Well, me thinks Paramus Catholic would have been a tougher opponent.  Total annihilation is always a solid 'best thing', but a few other items caught my eye:

- Another FSU - Miami classic

- Texas A&M outlasting the Vols magic

- Mike Leach in the road trip passenger interviews on Gameday (and the present lead over Stanford)

However, my 'best thing' this week...

young men who have willingly agreed to represent our country in international conflicts so the rest of us enjoy its freedoms banded together to rush for over 300 yards against the #6 team in the country.  Navy beating Houston was the best thing I saw today.  Congrats to the Midshipmen!

It was fun to watch that game with all the rain.  ND center botched the snap on their last play and was berated by Kelly on the sideline.  Like he did it on purpose or something.  I thought the kid might lose it and just knock Kelly out. One of these days it will happen and it will be glorious.

loved the fake pat. can someone explain why the holder can run? i understand that no fg or pat would be attemptable if he's ruled down when he catches the snap, but seems odd he can advance the ball. another loophole found by jbc?

It's specifically in the rules because somebody pointed out that having the holder not take a knee would be a dead giveaway that a fake was called. Therefore, the holder on a placekick is the one player who can advance the ball after being in possession with his knee down.

haven't seen it yet, but the best thing this week will UFRs and to see what Gerg say in the Michigan Monday. most Ohio fans I know acted like they beat Bama by 50 when they beat Rutgers last week.

The Peppers punt return for a touchdown that was called back. He looked like he was shot out of a cannon. The penalty looked weak if it was in fact on Lewis.

...especially Taco absolutely terrorizing the entire Rutgers backfield.

- ND losing again in a giant swamp. Fond memories of the Weis years.

- Sparty's season completely unraveling

- Navy knocking off Houston, probably eliminating 2 teams from playoff contention (Houston and L'ville)

- Yet another impossible Tennessee comeback, but thankfully falling short in 2OT

- Yet another FSU-Miami game decided by a missed kick

- Did I mention ND losing again?

and although i didn't see it, I think possibly the greatest thing I heard was Ash decided on this game to have like 200 recruits attend. I imiagine a few have UM offers. That's a great thing.

DavidP814 makes a good point in the Schadenfreude: Rutgers thread, that it may be the best thing from week 6.  Be sure to read the Schadenfreude: Rutgers thread.  The OP is fantastic.

As much awesome I saw on the field tonight against Rutgers, by far the best thing I saw was the "Shoot The Cannon" chant from the Michigan section. Fucking classic. Bravo.

I enjoyed watching ND lose in a deluge. They should have reprised the Snow Bowl game, punting on 1st down and going for the fumble. I enjoyed watching MSU lose to a BYU team we shut out last year. I particularly enjoyed watching our Wolverines deliver a beatdown for the ages against a Rutgers team that liked to chirp. But the best thing I saw was a Michigan fan hugging a Rutgers fan in the stands. I also saw boobs this week, so that probably takes the award.

78-0...  It just looks so good on the page

I loved Gedeon's hit on the fly sweep

But the best thing I saw was number 5 spinning off 2 tacklers then ducking under a 3rd and accelerating in 4 perfectly choreographed steps.

Peppers. He's unreal. He'd get the heisman for sure on offense. It's great knowing that every game we have the best player hands down.

Set the stage for a half of football we wouldm't soon forget. Yes I said half! if I remember right Peppers had a game worth of statistics in one half. I know he was sitting on the bench with a jacket over his uniform by the halfway point of the 3rd. Talk about leaving them wanting more. It was nice of the coaches to let him show off in Jersey the last time he could play there.

EDIT In a Michigan uniform.

1. DPJ on the osu sideline trying to figure out why he should go to a team that doesnt pass the ball. 2. QB Peppers 3. The most dominant Michigan win Ive ever seen.

Confirmation that we have the best coach.

- Stanford starting to falter with two consecutive blowout losses in a way that would not have happened if Jim were still there.

- RR defeated and AZ looking like a very average team

- Hoke's Oregon defense gets housed by a manball Washington team

- Jim Mora (once a popular candidate for UM job) gets beat by AZ State and has a very average, common looking UCLA team.

I knew Rutgers was bad. I knew Michigan was very good. I didn't see 78-0.
The best thing I saw was the second half where a great number of kids who work their asses off got into a game and had meaningful experiences. Some of those guys will play a lot more in a Michigan uniform and make many more memories. For some of those guys, this will be a memory they have for the rest of their lives. I know that sounds mushy and sentimental, but it was what stuck with me.
Second best thing, the Cubs. I've been a fan my entire life, and I just want them to win so badly.

Best thing - Jabrill Peppers, hands down.  Dude was awesome last night, he clearly had goals to accomplish.  His first touch went 63.  The punt return.  The TD run after correctly reading two pass options.  Dude was awesome!!

Worst thing - Lewis' block in the back call.  Talk about cheap...  That was one of the more horseshit block in the back calls I've ever seen.  Lewis' hand might have barely touched the guy.

Fun things - MSU, ND, and UTenn losing.  I was getting tired of seeing UTenn keep coming back.  Also fun, Houston going down to Navy!  That warmed my heart...  One more pretender bites the dust!

Also, I love this thread each week!

BTW, head over to RCMB and peruse the 'Legitimately worried about Michigan' thread.  Pure gold!  The first response to the OP is "Grease up and bend over.  They're coming."
