Week 3: Best thing you saw...

Submitted by mi93 on

What a day.  So many things.  From the heart of Bison (in a win we should all expect from them by now) and Panthers (even in a loss), to the Broncos being the best B1G team in Illinois, to a reminder that it's a long game and you don't panic in the first quarter, even down to TDs.

For me, though, the best thing today was Lamar Jackson and Loiusville.  Holy smokes they look like the real deal and as much I'd like to see Peppers hold the Heisman, Jackson seems like Vince Young, but fast.  The Cards nearly covered the Over by themselves.

What you got?

The stupidity of the Iowa athletic department is incredible. You schedule the fcs national champs instead of like Delaware State or somebody and you extend Ferentz 10 years and he promptly loses.

I'd like to give credit to the Iowa AD for scheduling a tough opponent, but I can't.  I really don't think anyone thought NDSU would put up much of a fight.  I'm NDSU didn't hold out for much return ($$$) for the chance to play one of that regions upper echelon schools.  Great move by them to cajole Iowa into the game, but poor on Iowa to not see it coming...  I knew two weeks ago NDSU would give them a game, and could win it.  But man was it great to see!

The real stoopidity, though, is on the Iowa administration for extending Ferentz that long, giving him a that big raise, and making his buyout that flippin' HUGE!!!  Ugh...  Some people are in charge of things simply because they were there, and somebody has to be in charge.

Peppers punt return was the best moment of the weekend. He has been eager for that to happen and quickly gas praise to God for his ability to accomplish that goal. Very cool

Michigan's response to adversity. Really gutsy close to the half after a disastrous first quarter. There are certainly some problems to be worried about, especially since our fellow B1G East guys look really good, but showing the ability to adapt tactically and emotionally to those kinds of body blows is good.

This is the reply I was going to post, but now don't have to.  The end of the first quarter was gut check time for the entire team - including the coaches.  And they settled down and started playing football.  From home, I could see the tide turning, I could tell they were just going to play thier game and it would come to them.  The defense stiffened up, and the offense started taking the plays that were available.  For all the big plays, CU got beat by a thousand little cuts inflicted by an NFL coaching staff that adjusted beautifully.

BTW, CU was already on the ropes and falling out when Luifao got hurt.  Losing the QB is not what stopped the CU offense...

1. Peppers entire performance today. Dominating.
2. Don Brown's defensive adjustments
3. Michigan's special teams play keeping us in the game

Non Michigan
1. Louisville looks ridiculous
2. Derrick Green scored for TCU today
3. Brian Kelly's face when MSU converted the 3rd down with 2 minutes left
4. Kidding, Peppers again.

Don't really agree. Taking away being sad for the kid, I wanted to see Michigan beat them when they were at their best. Liufau wasn't on defense and obviously couldn't have stopped Peppers return from happening, but I think it would have been good for Michigan to face Liufau the entirety of the game.

And again, the kid was resilient in that 70 yard bomb after getting injured. Tough to see him have to stop playing. Felt sorry for him.

He was an abominable GM.

But he is a very good analyst. He pointed out real stuff in the game today, including his deduction that Thomas was expecting safety help from Peppers on the first CO TD, which Peppers later confirmed.

He knows what he is looking at and can communicate it to the viewer. I understand people have a natural dislike of him for how badly he bungled his work with the Lions, but he is absolutely filling a role that he is good at here.
