Week 12 Polls Out

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on

Utah is #24 and #25 in coaches and AP respectively. Lulz.

Boise jumps TCU in both polls. These voters are stupid.

Delaware gets a vote in the AP. DERP.

Michigan #27 in coaches, #37 in AP. Doesn't matter.

Well, Utah did beat:

  • 5-4 Pitt in OT
  • 2-8 UNLV
  • 1-9 New Mexico
  • 1-9 San Jose St.
  • 5-6 Iowa St.
  • 2-9 Wyoming
  • 3-8 Colorado St.
  • 7-4 Air Force

That's a 26-59 combined record for their opponents that they have beaten thus far this season and two (!) of those teams will make it to a bowl game (Pitt and Air Force), so clearly they deserve to be ranked.

Note: I don't think UM should be ranked either, but it is pretty sad that Utah is ranked when you look at the teams they have beaten.

I'll tell you what, that 2-9 Wyoming team is about 3 or 4 year away from being decent. Okay, maybe 5 years. Utah surely got bonus points for beating a team this close (holds fingers an inch apart) to being decent.

It's good we're 7-3, but wins over Illinois and Purdue aren't exactly top 25-worthy. Now, we win one of the last 2, we should be ranked somewhere I think.

Utah being ranked befuddles me. It's not that they lost 2 in a row, it's that the 2 losses were both blowouts, and one of the blowouts was to unranked now 5-5 Notre Dame!

AP is non-BCS open to all of Division I. App State was almost ranked #25 after beating Michigan. The AP is the only voting poll that allows it. Sagarin ratings also include the FCS, but isn't a voting poll.

The same guy has voted Delaware 2 weeks in a row, apparently after they beat James Madison, the team that beat Virginia Tech.

both have the same quality wins in Oregon State so that's a wash.  BSU has better quality win in VT than Utah.  VT win has looked better and better as the season goes on and may end up ranked in the top 10.  Boise State will face Nevada and Fresno State, both will be tough games for BSU and if they beat them soundly and either Auburn or Oregon stumble with a loss, BSU will be in the national championship game.

Delaware should be #1 in the FCS polls this week, but its still a joke that Ratto votes them with his AP ballot. Just shows that quite a few AP voters don't take it seriously.
