Wednesday Night NCAA Football Open Thread

If you can play for all the marbles in the MAC West, then that is what Northern Illinois is doing tonight. The Huskies will be taking on the Rockets in the Glass Bowl in Toledo on ESPN2.

This will be your evening MACtion thread. Enjoy, friends, as I clean up after another long day of storm restoration.

It Was Not....

It's one thing to say before the game "Don't  believe the Huskies hype".

It's another thing to promptly go out there and get strip sacked by said Huskies.

Jamie says to bet on NIU

NIU is only favored by 3? I don't bet on sports but that doesn't make sense to me.

FWIW Sagarin's pure points (predictor) has NIU winning by 1.49 on a neutral field, so with homefield advantage Sagarin would predict Toledo winning by 1.51.

Northern will beat Toledo by at least a touchdown tonight. Lay the -3 with the road chalk. Just dont trust the Rockets in this matchup

Illinois hired Toledo's old

Illinois hired Toledo's old coach...they should've hired Northern Illinois's old coach. Much better coach. I think Northern Illinois would give Michigan problems. They'd beat Illinois for sure. Looks like this coach is picking up right where Doeren left off.

NC State hired Dave Doeren

who was Northern Illinois' coach last year.  I'll venture to say the reason for N Illinois' success is J Lynch, not Dave Doeren.

Umm just to note jerry kill

Umm just to note jerry kill really got the ball rolling at NIU. The last 2 guys just picked up baton. All of these guys are kills recruits.

Also of note: Iowa State

Also of note: Iowa State bball plays at BYU tonight. BYU looks to be pretty decent this year, and are favored at home. An ISU win would help the ol' SoS.

Eerily Familiar...

The Huskies just had a drive that I would describe as "eerily familiar", right down to the 3rd and 11 play just now. In good news, NIU is moving the ball well enough at about 5.7 yards per snap on average.

For sure

It looked like his knee hit in bounds before he fell out.  Northern Illinois called their 2nd timeout anyway with 9 seconds left, so not sure it mattered that much anyway.

Jordan Lynch All The Time...

I have to wonder if we can note that one play as "Jordan Lynch completes pass to Jordan Lynch for a short gain" even despite the near-interception.

...and it doesn't matter because Jordan Lynch hands the ball to Jordan Lynch for a rushing TD.

Another Trip to Detroit!

Another trip to Detroit for NIU! Very impressive second half for NIU and Jordan Lynch! What a beast he is especially after his two top WR targets were out. I know where I'll be December 6th :) Go Huskies!!!
