Webb/Ray Spring Mock Draft on WTKA
Marcus had 1st pick (see comment). Then Sam took next two, then 1 for 1 and so on. Ray's DL strength to Webb's OL strength. I think Sam's is better. Picks in each team's order. Some strangeness due to one filling a position group and the other waiting.

Would it be possible to have this broken down by position? It's really hard to read otherwise.
March 26th, 2015 at 11:35 AM ^
Both would be nice, actually. I like seeing the order the players were drafted in, because that sheds light on who's standing out. But you're right, it would also be nice to see by position. I'll work on it, unless someone else beats me to it.
March 26th, 2015 at 11:54 AM ^
If it was a 3 column sheet with the actual draft order and who's team they're on in the next column and the comments they made about their pick in the next. Then at the bottom, list Sam and Marcus's teams side by side and ordered by position groups.
March 26th, 2015 at 11:56 AM ^
I should have scrolled down a smidge.
March 26th, 2015 at 11:36 AM ^
I'll be praying for overtime in this game. The spring game needs to be full of highlights. This is all we will have for the next few months. I'll go back and watch at least once a day.

I would draft DL in early rounds here because there isn't much depth. I wouldn't want to get stuck with the reserves on the DL. I'd also draft RB's and LB's later since we have depth and not a lot of differentiation there.
So in my mind the early draft isn't saying DL will be a strength, so much as it could signal lack of depth. Unless this is like changes in players weight during the offseason, where all news is good news.
March 26th, 2015 at 11:43 AM ^
I think the secondary is going to be good this year. Also expecting big things from the DL.
March 26th, 2015 at 11:45 AM ^
I was going to ask that it be listed by draft order, but then i just copied and pasted to excel, rearranged, and re-pasted here if that helps anyone. Or, I'm not sure how this is going to work, so I'm sorry if I break the internet:

Well, he's the likely starter at what has been called the strongest position on the defense. Sometimes maybe it's better not to hear much.

Peppers is supposedly a safety now.
In the draft, Sam got both starting safeties and Ray both starting corners. Both got half the assumed starting DL. They split the 4some of LB - Ross, Gedeon, Bolden, Morgan. If you believe the LTT hype Sam did better on the OL. Who the hell knows on the QBs. The purported top 2 RBs (until Drake gets back) are split. Ray won the TE battle with Butt being the one established star. The WRs look evenly split.
So in the end it comes down to the QBs. Doesnt it always? ;)
March 26th, 2015 at 12:03 PM ^
Sam locked up the safties and picked D Hill so he could them move JP to corner (since Marcus locked up Lewis/Countess). It necessarily devolves from reality due to spring game and what the other guy did. Sam also took Winovich as LB which I don't think should have been allowed since he is clearly at TE. That screwed Marcus.
March 26th, 2015 at 12:15 PM ^
Makes sense.
March 26th, 2015 at 11:54 AM ^
Looking forward to the day that QBs are taken 1st thru 3rd for both teams ;)

Kugler is a awfully big corner, but I hear he is good at jamming.
March 26th, 2015 at 12:24 PM ^
Quick thoughts on ordering:
- Butt is lower than I'd take
- Had Lewis, Butt, Henry, Peppers as my top 4 so generally agree there.
- Love seeing Cole so high
- Well both Coles that high
- Kalis way higher than I assumed
- Ross as the first LB is a surprise if only with how marginalized Mattison had him last year
- Would have wished our DEs were picked higher but looks like a relative project area in 2015
- First RB at #30 is not encouraging
- Wormley and Henry were my 2 breakout picks last year on the DL - 1 for 2. But love seeing Wormley again getting love. With consistent effort he can be a playmaker this year.
March 26th, 2015 at 11:56 AM ^
Man, Pipkins was picked late.
March 26th, 2015 at 12:12 PM ^
A true freshman beat him out last year for 2nd string.
March 26th, 2015 at 11:57 AM ^
Shane Morris picked as the first QB..........yikes. Should be the 3rd QB picked.
March 26th, 2015 at 12:02 PM ^
A lot of the recent reports say Shane has been running with the 1's most of the time
March 26th, 2015 at 12:04 PM ^
Have you been to practice? The practice report trend lately is that Shane is picking it up, and Speight seems in third.
March 26th, 2015 at 12:05 PM ^
I could not listen to that segment.
March 26th, 2015 at 12:12 PM ^
A bit disappointed to see D. Harris drafted so low. I was hoping he'd start to push for time at WR this year.
March 26th, 2015 at 12:17 PM ^
I guess I should should have read the rest of the board first. What a bummer. I hope we get to see him on the field someday before his career is over.
March 26th, 2015 at 12:24 PM ^
This was just Sam/Ray mock drafting. Harbaugh and Co. draft Saturday, I think.
Injuries impacted this draft, but here's the list of undrafted players:
Bo Dever - WR, Kenneth Sloss - WR, Brian Cleary - QB, Joe Hewlett - QB/DB, Ramsey Romano - QB (Shortstop; Leadoff Hitter), Matt Thompson - QB, Jack Wangler - WR, Drake Johnson - RB, Matt Mitchell - DB, Travis Wooley - DB, Nick Benda - LB, Kyle Seychel - K/P, Shaun Austin - S, Bobby Henderson - FB, Francois Montbrun - DB, Nick Volk - FB, Sione Houma - FB, Joe Beneducci - FB, Ryan Tice -K/P, Scott Sypniewski - LS, Brady Pallante - FB/DT (HWT Wrestler), Deyanco Hardwick - FB, Anthony Dalimonte - DB, Andrew Robinson - LS, Alex Kaminski - LB, Ben Pliska - OL, Michael Wroblewski - LB, Dan Liesman - LB, Nikhil Brueggeman - OL, Leon Johnson - DL, Khalid Hill - TE, Jaron Dukes - WR, Brad Anlauf - WR (Backup Forward), Kenny Allen - K/P
Not be to a downer or anything but is Marcus Ray's opinion on a draft important?
This draft seems to confirm what we saw in that practice report the other day -- Morris is in front right now, with Malzone close behind, and Speight clearly #3 at this point.
Let's hope all these data points mean the lights have finally come on for Shane.
