It was RT a couple of times before he deleted it. Nothing groundbreaking, but interesting he commented at all.

Here's hoping he does the right thing for himself, his teammates and the University in 2013.

No one denies that Universities make money on student athletes but that is the price for admission.  You get to be a high profile athlete, auditioning yourself for a career in the NBA and once you get out you get the contracts/endorsements to go with it.  If you dont like it, its simple; dont play or go straight to Europe to play ball.

Don't take this the wrong way, I generally agree with you.  But, times were very different then.  In the three drafts before Webber went to the NBA, there were 3 sophomores, no freshman, and no high school seniors drafted.  Unless you were an absolute superstar, your options at the time were to go to college for 3-4 years before you ever saw a dime, and even if you were a superstar, you pretty much had two years before you earned any money.

It wasn't until 1995, when Kevin Garnett entered the draft, that anyone considered options different than partaking in NCAA basketball.  While I think most players could have gotten by, and shouldn't have taken money, I don't think the issue was nearly as black and white as it is now.

Please don't be hypocrites. The people saying that college athletes should be able to make a little money are the same ones lambasting OSUs Tat Five for breaking the rules. The rules are the rules. They have been well thought out by countless people that understand the dynamics and scope of the collegiate sporting world.

For those of you making the statement that the university makes a ton of money off these kids, get real. The university, especially Michigan, uses that money to not only fund the budgets of other sports, but they also provide for academic funding. That money goes towards scholarships for non-athlete students, research and development, endowments, etc. Even so, yes, money is made. It needs to be and it is the definition of a free market. Anyone who collects a paycheck should understand this. The money you make for your employer greatly exceeds the money you are paid in return. It has to be this way or every business would fail.

The same goes for scholarship athletes. They are provided with an education, food, housing, clothes, and the means to further their abilities. Depending on the university, the average cost of "employing" a student-athlete can be between $80,000 to $140,000 per year. The average cost for 716 scholarship athletes at Michigan is approximately $130,000 per athlete per year and the average return on investment is about $140,000 per athlete per year. $10,000 in revenue per athlete over cost is hardly making a ton of money, so for those of you that propose some form of payment system for players I hope you realize that ticket prices will go up as well as tuition costs.

No single player is above the rules, no matter how significant their value to the program. They will have their chance to make more money than most in a lifetime at the next level. The system isn't broke. Don't try to fix it.

feel some guilt and remorse about how everything played out and would probably go back and chage it all if he could. Like Jalen said he's just not ready to talk about it yet and probably dosent feel like he needs to at this time in his life. I got nothing but love for C-Webb and think he is a great person who made a few bad decisions. I just hope one day this situation between the university and himself can be resolved and he can be welcomed back into the UM family, because in IMO he deserves to be here.

yea he made the university a lot of money but he also costed university more by creating the black hole  that was the post punishment u of m basketball team. If anything he should apologize to the players who got screwed. Honestly the university should apologize to fans for brian Ellerbe(sp?).
