Webb says people are reading too much into Harbaugh/Wheatley photo
Wheatley told Sam that a deal is "far from done" and that there has been no formal interview. Of course, the fact that he and Harbaugh are old friends will help us, but the post with the photo says the two were finalizing Wheatley's contract, which isn't true.

This is now the 3rd time I've gotten on here...celebrated because someone has posted Wheatley is coming. Then while I'm still on here, someone posts something about how Sam Webb says it's not even close to done.
I love rollercoasters, but this has got more twist and turns than a Shonda Rhimes drama.
By the way, he could be on his interview today. In athletics, a lot of times you fly in the night before, you meet the AD and go to dinner with the head coach or department head. The next day you take your tour and meet everyone and then sit down for your formal interview.
That seems weird and way to formal for a position coach, but for admin and head coaching searches that's usually how it goes at most schools.
For the more local candidates, you'd come in, meet with the AD in the morning, go to lunch with the head coach or department head and have your formal interview in the afternoon.
With the new admin at Michigan, they may be making Harbaugh do everything the formal way...who knows? Just sign the man.
This would also explain the delays on other candidates, they could have to "interview" or screen additional people for the positions before making anything official.
I'm sure someone could contact HR and ask about the hiring timeline/protocol.

...if my assumption or scenario is true. I highly doubt Wheatley is there unless he knows the job is his. I do have some pause, because he'scurrently unemployed, so going on an interview doesn't say as much for someone who doesn't have a job versus someone who does.
However, I just don't see these guys wasting each other's time. IMO, if it doesn't happen, there will be a very solid reason, one we can all live with.
The more I think about every hiring search I've been part of, the more this all makes sense.
And BOTH the rumor and Sam Webb could be true. They could've been there finalizing a contract, because WTF else are they going to talk about? It's not like Harbaugh is actually going to sit there and interview his friend.
However, Wheatley may not, probably hasn't had his formal interview yet. Which is either a formal interview with the AD then Harbaugh (or vice versa), or maybe they actually do have a committee, which is uncommon for assistant coaches.
My "bold" prediction based off of my experiences only and no actual knowledge of THIS situation is that by close of business today, Tyrone Wheatley will be the new RB coach - officially.
Start checking the e-mail database thing, tomorrow afternoon once HR paperwork has been processed.

Nah. He should have taken him to Ashley's, got him all liquored up, and then convinced him to sign for $50,000, which would leave us enough room under the salary cap to sign Gus Malzahn as quarterbacks coach.
Also, trick him into signing a NLI for Tyrone Wheatley, Jr.

How awkward would it be if he pulled a Mama Malik McDowell?
I wonder how Mama McDowell is doing these days...it seemed to have worked out. Hoke got fired, MSU ended up in a New Year's Six bowl.

only had 1 personal foul and 1 unsportsmanlike conduct call against him! It's all working out...

Sparty seems to be working out real nice for him. Shaping him into a real "Sparty Man"

I don't think so... Is he related to Sammy Harbaugh? He was a pretty good QB for the Redskins back in the day. I'd take him in a pinch if he is.
Gus Malzahn for tight ends coach?

Kind of like a Patriots fan saying "oh man, maybe if we get him liquored up enough, we could snag Eli Manning as our QB. Oh, wait, . . ."

The Bay Area will he just fine. ..Oakland has some really cool parts (of which Sacramento isn't one), and let's be real even Oakland's worst parts are still nicer than Detroit's! I'm SF all the way, hate the A's & Raidaz, but cumong, I'm an A2 native - you really cannot dis the Bay Area, even Oakland.

Naw, Oakland's not cool its downright COLD on a whim even in summer, just like SF per Mark Twain. And outside the city center it is one sprawling warehouse district. No flavour to the communities like on east coast, midwest or south

It's too creepy to be the first thing people see when they wake up. And definitely to weird before bed.

If people are complaining about half naked women being posted, can I complain about this pic being NSFW? That's an awfully scary pic.

In order to build a new "house" you need a bulldozer named Tyrone...two preferably.

Tyrone...Butterfield? Willingham? Biggums?
January 7th, 2015 at 7:58 AM ^
Biggums is definitely a close second to Wheatley Jr. - But on that note we need more Tyrone's (along with more Jim's).

Red Robin has good burgers. It's not Daniel Boulud $50 wagyu, truffle, fois gras burgers, but they have good burgers never the less.
It's laughable when people diss chain restaurants as "beneath" them.
