Wear Your Colors Tomorrow

It's very different to be an athlete of a sport than it is to be a fan of one. Possibly the hardest thing to deal with as a 'fan' is the futility in it all, because in the end you become emotionally invested in something you have no control over. In some ways it's much easier to lose a game you have played in, because it's very easy to find someone to blame. Yourself. This year, last year... these were likely the most difficult seasons any Michigan fans have ever had to endure. They're officially behind us, even though it will take a few days for the sting of this one to wear off. Like so many Saturdays this year, it was very hard to watch these games unfold and be at the mercy of the young men actually going out and fighting and bleeding for it on the field. But we should not forget them. They still have to wake up tomorrow, and they will still be the Michigan Wolverines. Our Michigan Wolverines. I'll save my thoughts on the game itself for another post, but there's no doubt that everyone's loyalty has been put to the test this year. I guess my point is, if you want changes-- if you want Rich gone, and if you hate Forcier-- then move on. Go away, and root for Florida this year and Oklahoma or Alabama the next. And at some point, when our freshman quarterback turns in his freshman mistakes for the poise and experience of a letterman, and our coach has got the right chemistry of personnel in the necessary places, you'll have to live with yella-belly fair-weather fandom. And so, yes, in closing, you can bet your ass I'll be wearing maize and blue tomorrow. If you've got any sort of testicles between your legs (no offense ladies) and you've identified yourself as a Michigan man, I challenge you to do the same. Wear your colors with unconditional pride, and it will speak of your character. Your loyalty. Maybe even your MgoPoints. GO BLUE. Offseason begins tomorrow.

I'll be adorned in maize and blue. I have done that every week this season; win or lose. The best part is happily responding to anyone who thinks they are going to give me a little ribbing, "This is the best time to show my true colors. That's how you know they are true!"

I can assure you that I'll be in Michigan gear everyday this week. I live in SEC country now and I know I'll get a lot of shit for it, but I feel like it's my duty as a true Michigan fan to show support for these guys.

I've gotten a few comments the last couple weeks. My typical response is that a fan should be a fan in the bad times, too. It comes down to this: I'm a fan of a program, not an outcome. I like winning, but I love Michigan football no matter what.

I will definitely wear my michigan gear throughout the week, even with the crap people will most likely give me. For one thing, football isn't the only sport. Michigan basketball should have a great and exciting season. Even if they weren't, I would wear my gear with pride. This team will continue to improve and get better as the years pass. Great post.
