We Will Return

There is no doubt about it that we want the Wolverines to be the powerhouse of the west once again. It feels great watching Michigan beat the hell out of other teams either in the Big House or in their stadiums. A Michigan win is awesome no matter where it's at. Its been difficult watching this team the last 2 years I won't lie. With losses to teams like App St, Toldeo, Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern and MSU it's been tough to stomach going into the Sunday after gameday. Just thinking about the words STATE or OSU makes our blood boil and anger flair but we all need to remember that this happens to all great teams and programs. They go through cycles a lot like the human body does as it grows older. Teams don't stay awesome forever, we wish they did but it just doesn't work that way. Look at the Detroit Red Wings: Made the Stanley Cup Finals 2 years in a row. Now they are just fighting to make the playoffs as the 8th seed in the West. Look at USC. Losing to teams like Washington, Oregon, barely beating Notre Dame. They are also going through a cycle it happens. Rich Rodriguez did an amazing job of recruiting this season for 2010. Picked up big names like Dorsey and Gardner. It's incredible how he pulled that off isn't it? How Dorsey put down big name schools like FSU and Florida to come up here and play for Michigan. Doesn't that mean anything? It means these players look at pride of a program. They look at tradition and excellance with in it and Michigan defines that off and on the field everyday, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. I as a fan am humbled that these players are looking at Michigan because they want to be apart of a winning program and a proud conference. So lets stop this constant bitching of "I've had it with this team" or "Were fucking pathetic", "we can't win anything." You take a good long look at the titles and names this school has produced then have the balls to look me in the eyes and say that shit because I bet anything you'll stand frozen in silence. This school has and will always define the word greatness because great athletes are created and bred at Michigan. Brady, Howard, Woodson, Woodley, Edwards, Harbaugh, Toomer, Phelps, Griese my god people the list goes on. You can say all the shit you want about how aweful we are now but you take a good luck at the potential of these athletes and players and you will see more talent than any other human on earth can have. This team has heart, determination and win or lose they play through the pain to get the job done. Forcier against MSU defined that sentence despite the loss he was winded, beat up and bruised yet he worked till there was nothing left in the tank and then some. This team will rebuild, they are rebuilding and with experience and hard work rewards will follow, the streaks against will end and this school will become the champions of the west once again.

I'm not sure how many more of these "pump up speeches" I can take. No offense to anyone, but after a while they begin to slightly reek of desperation.

Michigan football is... - a human body cycling...not sure I like that comparison.. - breeding on campus (cue Freep Article "RichRod Supports Unprotected Sex") But seriously... love the sentiment.

I agree that we will be back. I think a lot of people (myself included) thought that since WVU went bowling in year 2 with RR that we would too. When we started 4 and 0 I was one of the first to say we were back and when we lost 7 of the last 8 I had no choice but to hang my head low but at no point (and I am speaking only for myself) did I question my fanhood. I am a fan of this great team wether they win 3 games all season, or if they win none. I went through a bit of anger (alright I went through a lot of anger) when we lost that 7th game this last year and it was certain that we would not go to a bowl game. I mentioned to a buddy that I did not know if the team was any better than the 08 team. I went through all of the "you can't count Del State as a win" and the "it doesn't count beating EMU because they did not win a game all season" but then when I allowed a cooler head to prevail I asked myself "would the 09 team have beaten the 08 team and every time I asked myself that question I got a resounding yes. The team was better last year then the year prior and I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that the team will be better again this year and in the years to come. GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
