gone on his mormon mission yet? because if he hasn't he might have to miss next season... or has he already gone and is now 32 with a family of 4??? because it always seems like BYU has really good teams when they get a bunch of players back from their missions and they're all in their mid 20's...

This is always the sterotype, but a mission lasts 2 years, and only like half of their players go, so their players would only be 1 year older than average. Especially considering that they don't play football while they're away, it's always weird how exaggerated their supposed age advantage is.

Yikes--that gif of Taysom Hill.  Is that acceleration real?

I get hurdling the free safety, but that acceleration from standstill to running away--is that real or is there something wrong with the gif?  I mean, is it not synced properly or something?  Or is that legit?  I didn't catch that game but may have to start watching BYU football.

Until then, I have been watching University of Utah football.  They have a QB who runs pretty well.  Not like Taysom, mind you--Utah's QB is the tall sort, with slow turnover but legit speed.  But I've been out here in SLC watching live U of Utah games, and I'm confident the tape on Utah's QB will be enough to keep Mattison up at night until the game with Utah.

Honestly not sure what you do about a QB that runs like that.  Actually, I guess I have some idea:  I did watch the full ND game last week.

The day(s) after a loss like this past week:

1. Wake up still pissed and hung-over on Sunday.  Remember you had computer in lap during second half of game.

2. Check MGoblog to see if you said or did anything that got you sent to Bolivia

3. Wait for TWIS to be published to see if you got picked up there

4. Realize you've dodged the bullet one more time

5. Rinse, repeat

I almost fell out of my chair at the Buckeye fan who said he would take Bollman calling the plays on offense, because watching the same dive play eventually result in the same 3rd and 7 situation was working so well on offense the last time around, right?

the buck's fans comments were very telling.  I never thought I'd hear folks wishing for a return of JT over Urbz.  EVER.   I've said it before and I'll say it again, the deal osu made with the devil may end up biting them in their collective asses sooner or later.  Looks like it could be sooner.

Good lord, OSU fans can go straight to hell.  You think you have it tough?  Try on a Rich Rod/Brady Hoke double-team for size, then come back and tell me all about your "problems."  Assholes.

The inital knee jerk Buckeye response that wants to come out is this is what happens when you have expectations for your program after a long period of excellence. The more analytical side agrees with that but adds this additional idea. Were we really that good? I don't spend much time in the OSU echo chamber, I lived outside of Ohio for almost a decade which, I think, gives me a somehat different view of my beloved Buckeyes. We did get a MNC, but had a lot of luck along the way. After that, we were embarrassed twice trying to get another one. We lost twice to USC and once to Texas in marquue non conference games. We haven't offically beaten an SEC team. I think a lot of us are very proud of what we have done in the B1G, but in our hearts wonder if we really are a truly elite program. With Meyer we were supposed to confirm that and take the next step, but we've lost three of the last four games and looked bad doing it. Our defense is not what it was and folks have been reluctant to point to Luke as the problem, though they are getting there. Heck, we almost lost to you guys last year and no offense but on paper that game should not have been that close. It just reinforces our fear that our "dominance" has been, to some extent smoke and mirrors a bit of luck and a really bad B1G.

because I see some parallels to Michigan hockey. Appearing to be really dominant with a lot of really talented teams but little hardware to show for it; we have a two down years (read: just missed the tourney) and we're all ready to panic. While I know other teams (like OSU hockey for instance) would love to have that kind of success

I just know you Buckeyes won't be getting any sympathy from A2 for many years. Buckeye Football and Michigan Hockey problems are #firstworldproblems to most of the rest of the teams they compete against

I thought we had it bad.  How about this quote from a Wazoo fan:

Being a Washington State football fan is what I imagine it's like to walk around a public dog park in the dark of night. At some point you're going to step in a pile of shit. It's inevitable. The only question is when is it going to happen and how much shit is going to stick to your shoe. Washington State not only stepped in it to start this season, but slipped, fell and ate a mouthful.
