So I was just killing time before the game starts in about, erm, 48 hours or so, just looking over some stats from the past 2 years, and a couple of things stood out…
1. We could actually top our ‘08 point total this weekend. In ’08, we finished with just 243 points on offense. In 2010, we already have 207. If we put up 37 points on MSU, then we will have beaten our ’08 point total just halfway through the season.
2. At this point in ‘09, we had scored 170 points, compared to 207 so far this year.
3. In ’09, our offense put up a respectable point total of 354. For comparison, Lloyd’s teams actually scored that many points or FEWER in 6 different seasons, and two of those seasons had 13 games.
5. We’re on pace to score 496 points (over 12 games). Obviously that won’t happen, but just for comparison sake, again, our offense scored 354 last year. The
Michigan record for points scored over 12 games is 446 (2003) most points we've scored over 12 games since the 1940s is 446 (2003).
Conclusion: this whole ‘dreadlocked-quarterback-running-the-zone-read’ thing is working.
