WBB storms back in 4th Q for 72-70 win over Iowa, now 19-5

What an unbelievable game.

This is one that would've just gotten away from us in years past.

Freshman blue chip star Kysre Gondrezick had a 23 point game today, leading Michigan back from a 61-52 deficit in the final 10 minutes.

Kysre also had 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks.

Michigan went on a 20-9 rampage in the 4th quarter, and the game featured 3 lead changes in the final 30 or so seconds.

Iowa missed a shot at the buzzer and Michigan holds on for the WIN!!!!!

The Wolverines are now 19-5 and 8-2 in the B1G. We will most likely be ranked tomorrow for the first time since Coach KBA's first season.

This team is a blast to watch. Incredible poise. Gonna be even more fun to watch in years to come. Katelynn Flaherty had an off game (she's averaging 20.3 PPG) with 11, and we have players stepping up all around her to fill the void.

We'll head to Purdue on Wednesday night and then will return home a week from today to face Wisconsin.

This was a game I was weary about, because even though Iowa isn't ranked or having an Iowa-like season, it's still Iowa. And we got by them. Amazing job all-around.

As the Michigan WBB team has several players on the roster that come from my daughter's AAU program, so we know them personally. KBA has really stepped up her game on the recruiting trail the past 2 years, and its paying off. We're still very suspect on defense, but offensively we're just very hard to deal with. Things are looking great long term for KBA/WBB team.

She's recruiting at a historic level here. It's night and day from what the Men are doing.

Two top-100 players in last year's class, Kysre being a 5 star and Miss Basketball in MI.

We also have another 5 star coming in next season, Hailey Brown who is #38 nationally overall.

Great athlete in the 17 class, with tremendous length. I think she will improve the perimeter defense instantly. Not a great shooter, but she can get to the rim and finish with the best of em. Looking forward to the next few years of WBB.

Hampton Bey committed really early, and while she's a really nice athlete, I'm not sure he skillset developed as much as the staff hoped for. Bey transferred from Rogers last year because an incoming freshman, Zia Cooke, was most certainly going to eat into her time.

Cooke is an absolute freak athlete that probably holds offers from every program in the country. Would love for Michigan to land her, she plays with my daughter in AAU.

Another one of my daughter's AAU teammates, Rickea Jackson, is currently top 10 in the country for 2019...............and her cousin is former UM football player Teric Jones. Safe to say that Michigan will be seriously considered. Jackson is a 6'3 wing, yes that's correct, a 6'3 female wing that can handle, pass, has great length, and is athletic.

The men have:

Irvin: high four/five

Walton: high four

Wilson: four

Simpson: four

Teske: four

Wagner: would have been four if American

Poole: four

Livers: four

Its not even close to night and day from the men's team and arguably worse.

I wonder if the OP goes to any of these "non-revenue" games. My magic 8 ball says "signs point to know."

Been a fan for a while and there have been times you could show up 10 minutes before game time and be relatively close to the steps (when they had steps).  Not anymore.

Also saw someone selling their extra ticket outside the arena.  They have come along way

Iowa has former Michigan Miss Basketball Tania Davis (Goodrich, MI) and her high school teammate Lexi Sevilian (Goodrich,MI). Lexi's older sister KIki Sevillian (Goodrich) plays at Penn State. Whenever Iowa or Penn State play in Ann Arbor, Goodrich AD and WBB Coach organize a large group to go watch the game. Sounds like they saw a good one.

I get the hate for WD for the dumb threads he sometimes starts but no one can question this guy's devotion to UM non revenue sports.

I don't even know what "Iowa is not the usual Iowa" means in terms of women's basketball but I suppose that means they suck this year vs their normal decentness.  But how many ppl would know that.

I'll be interested what WD rolls out for his site in April.  This site will still dominate in football and there is a much smaller audience for anything not football or basketball (men's) but we'll miss all the updates on everything else that is mostly ignored on this site.  I for one enjoy hearing about the successes of other sports, even if I can't name a single player on them.  Meanwhile WD knows what every player in ever sport ate for breakfast.

WD - is your dream job to be an associate AD or Sports Information Director down the road at UM?  (I know your ultimate job is to be AD overall but I mean something realistic) :p

They could end up with the best season in the major Michigan sports this year. Great job ladies! Go Blue!
