Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Michigan is IN!!!!!!!!!

The Wolverines are the 7 seed in the Lexington Regional and will face 10 Northern Colorado in Waco, TX.

This is just the 7th NCAA Tournament appearance in the program's 45 year history.

I love how all the men's teams are in fancy locker rooms - and sometimes, even in packed arenas - to await their seeding, but the women's team is watching in Aunt Franny's living room.

If you watched the selection show, they had those large watch parties at other schools. We had a small gathering at the Junge Center last year but it didn't end well being left out so they just had it at Coach KBA's house this year.

Really? They could have demanded to have it at Crisler like the men's team did a few years ago? And the administration would have agreed? And the stadium would have been packed with fans?? OK, sure

You think if KBA had asked to have it in Crisler, Warde would have said no? Would it be packed? No, but that’s not because they are being treated poorly. It’s not as popular as the men’s game. Simple as that. UCONN seems packed every game.

I thought your initial comment was a perceptive insight into a range of attitudes surrounding college sports and gender issues. Sorry so many took issue with it.

I suspect the coach wanted to avoid exposing the emotional disappointment of the players had they not made the tournament, which shows a level of compassion more likely to be found in women's sports than men's. The latter tend to emphasize competition and winning, and the dangers of that approach are evident in the willingness to break rules in recruiting, protecting players and coaches from the consequences of sexual assault, and the other misdeeds complained of in many threads.

Sorry to introduce a more serious note into a discussion intended to congratulate the team on an impressive achievement, but it does in fact make their choice of a more intimate venue all the more admirable. They care for each other and that makes them a stronger team.

Women athletes are people too. That means they are perfectly capable of lying, cheating, trash talking, and putting winning above all else, just like the men. Plenty of women athletes get busted for cheating, doping, etc.

Likewise men can have plenty of compassion for their teammates, and can show plenty of emotion and sportsmanship.

And the support they show for each other provides welcome evidence. Beilein's players play unselfishly, which is one reason why they have such success as a team. LIke most generalizations, plenty of exceptions can be found to my observation and I am glad of it.

As far as the positive features go anyway. The others? Not so much, but that is life, I guess.

Based on minutes played it looks like N Colorado's tallest starter is 5-9, two girls are 6-1 and 6-3 who play very little. Only two players who average in double figures are 5-6 and 5-7. Huge height advantage for us.

Better than projected.  Bracketology had us as an 8 seed going to Storrs for a possible match up against UConn in the second round.

Congrats to ladies for the Bid.   With the future bright, be more opportunities coming.   Lets get W friday against Northern Colorado.  Win for the seniors and Arico.   They deserve it a fun ride.

Good to get the 7, but Baylor had a legitimate case for a 1. Plus they have maybe the best pure center in the country. Going to Waco will be very tough.

Rutgers won the prize of the team with maybe the biggest complaint about not getting an invite (Michigan turned that same prize to their advantage last year). But Rutgers being Rutgers, they turned down the WNIT.

They should just make a calender that is revealing....     I really  don't care unless I knew a friend that had a friend that knew a guy that knew someone on the team.

Can’t see us getting past Baylor. Might have to wait til next year to get our first Sweet 16 appearance.

But we’ve beat both OSU and Maryland this year, so you never know.
