Way Too Early Forecast For Saturday

Submitted by brewandbluesaturdays on

Did some looking at some different weather reports to plan my tailgate for Saturday, and early indications are to expect rain all day up until about kickoff.

Obviously for the game,if it stops before, great. However, I imagine this will throw a huge wrench into tailgating plans especially if the golf course gets closed.

Time to bust out some early week rain dances.

is a "rain on and off" type forecast.  Like, it will be cloudy all day will periods of rain.  It is the kind of forecast that will call for a modified tailgate but not an outright scratch.  It is actually a really irritating forecast for a tailgate (or a trip to the pumpkin patch with kids which is my plan).

Both for tailgate and game. While it's not going to be as high as Braylonfest, 20mph wind will impact offense game significantly, particularly intermediate and deep passes

Guys, I'm going to apologize on this one.

This will be mGoGirlfriend's third game I'm bringing her to (one each of the last two seasons), and so far, we've caught rain for the first two weekends, which is crazy because they were early Sept.

I know I was tempting the weather gods by bringing her to the night game... looks like I chose poorly.

what really sucks is there's a 90% chance of rain on Friday, so the course is really going to be soaked....doubt it will be open but keeping fingers crossed

I mean, it is Michigan in October, so bring everything from tropical gear to polar gear just in case, but yeah, we're supposed to have a rather shitty streak of days here starting tomorrow. That's a shame, of course, because I really do need to mow the lawn and I have been lazy about it of late.

I'll be at the game though, rain or shine.

I only say this because it is partly true and also because I am coming up from Florida for this game and am trying to be optimistic.  So, the rain will clear out very early Saturday morning at the latest and it will turn out to be very nice Fall day - perfect for Tailgating.

Watching weather as well. For UTL-1 rain closed much of the GC and really screwed our tailgate plans. This weekend, were 40-50ppl, at least and a limited/closed GC would blow ...and esp if it rains Friday/night into Sat. I don't mind rain for the game but the 10hr preparty is in jeopardy. We've had cold/rain in CO since yesterday morning ...system is moving slowly.

Making the trip up for the game for the first time in a long time. Does anyone know if it is alright to park at Briarwood and catch a shuttle to the stadium? I know during typical game time's it would be more of a "who cares? The mall is open" question, but with the 7:30 start the mall will be well closed before the game ends and I'd rather not come back to a towed vehicle..

It's Tuesday morning. Weather sometimes changes very quickly. It's silly to worry about weather right now.

I was thinking of starting this thread to get some Mgo weather feedback. A few days ago it looked great but I saw last night that rain moved into the forecast. Hopefully it moves out again. Coming up from KC and bringing the wife this time, so rain all day isn’t ideal. Since tailgating may be switched to bar hopping an restaurants, anyone want to give an updated guide since the one on the site is 10 years old and we may have 2 full days to kill if it rains and don’t tailgate. We will hit Ashley’s for beers when we get in town on Friday and other than maybe going to Roadhouse for breakfast on Saturday, I am open to (mostly) downtown food suggestions. We are pretty simple, bar food is fine if it’s good. Also, is there anything going on Friday night? I was hoping for a hockey game but it looks like they are away.

Thanks again.

Friday there is a field hockey game( they're good and ranked) but no cover if it's raining. There is also a soccer game ( men's - women's I don't remember) and both are good some nights and mediocre the next. Both teams have many starters injured but is still fun and both sides of the field have covered seating. I will be driving the shuttle so say you're from KC and hurt your knee and I'll give you a ride and we can converse. Hey Carl! Food downtown Jolly Pumpkin (Ace likes) Frita Batidos ( everyone likes).

Any idea when they typically announce if the golf course will be closed for tailgating?  How often do they close the golf course for parking?  I'm planning on parking there - have only done it a couple other times on nice days.

Also, does closing the golf course basically just cause a massive shortage of parking everywhere else?

They typically wait as long as possible but the issue is more the rain that may fall on Friday, making the course mushy and more likely to become damaged.  Last year for Colorado it rained on and off all day Saturday, but hadn't been raining ..not as bad.

As for closing the Course, it does screw with parking but it also reduces the number of folks tailgating in general.  There is also the difference between AAGO and the golf course and whether you are a Season Pass holder or Cash.  The course will often do partial closures versus full closures.
