Way-too-early Basketball All-Americans

Submitted by tigers17fan on

ESPN released their list of too early All-Americans. Highlights are that McGary is listed as a first team and that Payne and Harris are on the second team. (Robinson was listed as a very promising sophomore but didn't even make the honorable mention list).

He's going to be a Wooden candidate. Averaging 14 pts and 10 rebounds against tourney teams (essentially top 25 teams) is pretty insane. I don't know how that could be extrapolated across a season with significantly less challenging competition, but I can't wait to see him play next year

I think both of these guys will be fine next year, but count me in the group that is uncertain about their potential without Burke at the helm.  McGary will still get the hustle plays, but his offense may take a drop without a great passer giving him the ball.

It'll be interesting to see how the whole team adapts to life without Burke.  I'm hoping in the off-season McGary can continue to develope the 12-15' jumper as well as one or two solid moves moves with his back to the basket in the post.  Combine those items with his ability to put the ball on the floor for one or two dribbles and get to the basket and he could be an absoute terror.
