Way OT: Tron - Worst Movie of All Time?
Howard the Duck.
^^^This^^
Even Spielberg and Lucas' raping of Indiana Jones in the crystal skull has not approached the abortion that is Howard the Duck.
Personally I think Tron PWNS NOOBS. It was my favorite movie growing up. Granted I was born the year it came out, but I remember popping that thing in the BETA MAX player over and over when I was young. You are crushing my childhood.
The effects are pretty rad, at least give me that.
in the theater. My vote for worst movie of all time is "Heartbeeps"
I guess they've run out of re-makes, 'eh? The trailer did look rather bizarre... almost as bizarre as the story line.
someone needs to create a remake of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I think that would be awesome with an appropriate cast.
I would be really hesitant about that. The movie today is still hilarious, so I think it has not become outdated yet. You could still pop it in today and laugh throughout the entire thing, and I would worry someone would ruin be casting like Dane Cook or something like that.
Why would you want to re-paint the Mona Lisa?
Crash.
Spot on. I like you.
Caught all kinds of praise for the intertwined plot and characters. People failed to realize that even a cleverly woven turd is still a turd. Don't marvel at it. Just flush it - quickly.
You really didn't like Crash? Or are you trolling?
I really didn't like it (and apparently I'm not the only one). It was pedantic and obnoxiously heavy-handed. The characters in that movie weren't actual people - they were crudely-drawn archtypes. The fact that it won Best Picture (over a fantastic movie about tolerance, "Brokeback Mountain," no less) was an embarrassment. Perhaps the Academy was making amends for not giving "Do the Right Thing" - a truly great movie about race relations - an oscar nomination more than a decade earlier. Unfortunately, "Crash" was as bad a film as "DTRT" is good.
But I agree with you on Do the Right Thing.
Spike Lee's film accomplished everything "crash" set out to in a much better way. It was just a better film, and is still very relevant despite being an 80s movie
Paul Haggis
- was born and raised in Ontario (and not even Toronto), and
- one of his early writing gigs was for Diff'rent Strokes.
That should tell you all you need to know about his ability to accurately and sensitively capture American race relations.
Ha. I was not aware of either of these facts. They certainly explain a lot. Thanks.
Wouldn't call it the worst movie ever, but definitely the worst one to win an Oscar by a landslide.
You, sir, have not seen the torture that is "Gone Fishin'" with Danny Glover and Joe Pesci.
Have added it to the list. Hard to beleive anything with Pesci is worse than Tron - he's a funny guy!
You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little fucked up maybe, but Pesci's funny how, I mean funny like he's a clown, he amuses you? He make you laugh, he's here to fuckin' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How he is funny?
Just... you know, how he tells a story, what?
I challenge your assertion by suggesting that the recent Travolta and Robin Williams movie featuring Seth Green signing to a Gorilla while being coddled in its arms was a little worse than "Gone Fishin'"
However, arguing over which one of these two movies is like debating whether getting stabbed in the left eye is worse than getting stabbed in the right eye.
Jennifer's Body. Ugh, even Megan Fox fans should stay away.
The scene in which Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried make out makes it (marginally) tolerable.
Not as good as the Sarah Michelle Gellar/Selma Blair (UM alum) make out scene from Cruel Intentions. Love me some mgolesbians.
EDIT: Unfortunately, can't embed video (banned by youtube)
I agree wholeheartedly.
The movie, I'm pretty sure, was intended as a joke at itself. Not a great movie, but I definitely laughed through most of it.
i dont know, Robot Jox was pretty bad. (although i loved it when i was in 2nd grade)
Solar Babies got 1 star... in the 80's!
Armageddon has to be the cheesiest movie of all time.
It's such a fun movie to watch and laugh at.
If you try and take it seriously, yes, it's really really bad.
But it still puts many smiles on my face watching it. So I like it.
I really did. It somehow made too little sense to even laugh at. This is a black mark on the career of Jeff Bridges.
Schindler's List. Total shit.
But didn't that movie win Iran's "Best original screenplay based on pure fiction" award in 1998?
Maybe I need to adjust my sarcasm meter, but did you really think "Schindler's List" was total shit? I thought it was tremendous (granted, I haven't seen it in about 12 years), and I feel like this opinion that it was a very good and moving film is one which is shared by many.
Also, randomly: I just recently saw "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," which I did think was pretty good, but, as with most films made from excellent books, not as good as the book. . . although that's kind of to be expected, as the book is told through the eyes of Chief and includes a lot of background stuff that they probably couldn't include in the movie unless they wanted it to be twice as long. Nicholson kicked ass in the movie, though.
Men in Black II and The Mummy: Curse of the Dragon Emperor.
With such lines as "I'm just a brother got dipped in the vanilla!" and other gems, this tale of a kung-fu fighting street urchin poet is so bad it's amazing. You can tell because the YouTube clip was made by recording VHS playback with a camcorder.
Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus
On a side note, who's excited for SHARKTOPUS???!!!?
Epic win!
I think the worst shark-related movie I've seen is "Blue Demon"
It's about super-sharks used by the border patrol -- and they go rogue. Yep, really. And all the footage of sharks is stock-footage from nature films.
Another gem is "Sharks in Venice" featuring the peerless Stephen Baldwin
Love and Basketball. Awful. Just Awful.
Cage and Meg Ryan. This movie sucked donkey balls. I walked out of the theater with pure hate coursing through my veins.
A movie has to be horrible to have that effect.
But Stealing Harvard was unwatchable.
Freddie Got Fingered was worse.
I thought Tron was great. Of course I was introduced to Tron at a young age, and it happened to be one of the few movies my parents had (have) on beta that my brothers and I would watch over and over again. I have seen a lot of crappy movies with way worse plots and story lines.
Besides, any movie with "The Dude" can never be considered worse anything.
I am with you. Tron is awesome. I am stoked to see Tron: Legacy.
Seriously. Name one thing that was good about the movie. In 1982, the CG was probably amazing. Aside from that, what is there? Not being a dick. I am seriously trying to find someone who will point out one good thing about this flick.
They race motorcycles that poop walls, what's not to like?
