For the same reason people still post things about Tommy Amaker from time to time. They are both former Michigan coaches who did not do very well at Michigan. However,  they were nice guys that we would still like to see succeed.  When Hoke gets back into coaching you are probably going to see threads about him too.

Because he's a good dude with significant Michigan connections.  I like watching him succeed just like I enjoy watching any other former Michigan player or coach or whatever succeed.

Also, folks like me who believe he was treated unfairly during his tenure like seeing him succeed and having fun

I wish richrod the best, but I'm tired of people saying he was treated unfair. I get treated like shit at my job but I still suck it up and do my job the best I can. The bottom line is that in 3 years he only made one bowl game, where we got beat down a la Tennessee style. If you can not get a Michigan team to a bowl game, in this day, you are a shitty coach. His record suggest otherwise, but do any of us really think that rr hasn't hit his ceiling at ua. He struggles against good coaching, or wannstedt coaching. Lucky for him there is not many top notch coaches in the pac-12.

I was hoping this would devolve into a pro/anti RichRod debate! The applicable word here is "Polarizing"

I didn't get to read the Hoke obit til 2 days later, and by then there were already nearly 400 comments posted.

Anyone care to guess what % of them were a rehash of the RR era, who was to blame for his lack of success, and whether he was dismissed too soon, too late, unfairly, etc?

Something like 75%!!!! In a piece about Brady Hoke!

Some even blamed Brandon for not shelling out for Casteel as the main cause of RR's failure to meet our expectations! The blame and revisionism surrounding those two men are still going to be debated on this blog after Harbaugh has won 2 NCs and returned us to perpetual relevance.

Why? Because people on this blog enjoy it!

It shouldn't. Not hard to figure out why some of us feel the way we do. I'd say RR defenders are generally more avid and informed fans since you obviously need to look beyond the record.

A lot of RR haters ignore his success at WVU and Arizona, saying "I don't give a shit what he did anywhere but Michigan." That attitude is how you end up with coaches like Brady Hoke to begin with.

It was not the attitudes of either the RR supporters nor the bashers that brought us Brady Hoke - THAT credit belongs to one Dave Brandon. And we learned this week that credit for that douche belongs pretty exclusively to MSC...

The tree of mediocrity (and worse)

Stop for a moment and listen to that song again and ask yourself if that isn't one of the worst piece of trash songs you've ever heard in your life... Dear god there is some just ASS music out there...

Sorry man, but no.  Don't know all the tunes you rolled off but as for the macarena, at least that song had such simple concepts as verse, chorus, and actually had a catchy hook.  This piece of trash is nothing but a rudimentary drum track fronting what sounds like a ditty from Super Mario, and then a bunch of kids barking out dance moves between grunts.  It is absolute, utter shit.  I've heard video game songs that showed more talent than this cacophonous disaster.

Just my subjective view, but I think the original comment was pretty light compared to how a really politically motivated ideologue would tee off on that song, which would likely include delirious accusations of bringing about the destruction of Western culture or something equally wild-eyed, as opposed to just being musically awful. However, point taken on the general thrust of your argument.

Again how is this different from Electric Slide and Macarina from last generation?

Geeze at least try to hide your stupidity and think for a second. This type of shit has been popular for a long time and didn't just pop up when Hip Hop came around to mainstream music.

hahahaha I can get down with a gimmicky song just for fun every now and then and have since I was a kid in the 70s - and I still generally do every time a catchy one comes out. Yet I must say this song does suck. At some point I'll end up doing the dance though I am sure.

I'll tell you exactly how this is different from those songs.  Go listen to those songs again and notice repetitive, catchy hooks, instrumental melodies, be they synthetic cheese or otherwise, and verse/chorus structure to add complexity and cohesiveness to the sound.

This pile of trash is a Super Mario ditty layered  with a canned 808 drum track beneath a bunch of kids incoherently barking out T-paned dance steps between grunts.  No melody, no catchy hooks, no cohesion, just a steaming pile of audible waste that I will never be able to unlisten sadly.

If this was just some kids farting about in a studio for shis that would be one thing, but apparently this song is a "thing" and to me that is outrageous.  I am dumber, sadder, and angrier about my existence and the world around me having listened to it.

Yep... I can easily see the problem now... It doesn't fit a certain "worldview" of yours.

Lay off the keyboard. Your trolling is not amusing.

Dude honestly tried to justify how Electric fucking Slide and Macarina were "good" bahahahahhaha.

I chose not to watch him as much as the other participants. What I did notice was, that he can't dance. It looks like he's trying way to hard to be cool.I went to the U of A, and let me tell you, it is a talent-rich environment.

A good buddy of mine is an OC at a top high school program. He's been to Arizona and other big programs' practices with recruits. He said RR was the biggest prick to his players, worse than any other coach he's ever been around. Screaming at them, calling them names, not at all trying to level with them or get them to learn. Just a jerk.

He was super stoked to tell me about after his first time going there because I was something of a RR sympathizer.

I know what it's like to play for a coach like that, and to me, that's a guy who's just a prick.
