Way OT: Pennsylvania county changes name... for a week
Just so you don't confuse Greene County Pennsylvania for some Packer lovin' land, they'll be changing their name the "Black & Gold County" for all of next week. Seems like a bit much to me.

IIRC, Topeka, Kansas changed their name to Google for a month last year (to help get the fiber optic network Google was talking about) and in response Google changed their logo so it read Topeka for a day.

This happens often when your crazy about your football team!
Two years ago the mayor changed his last name...

Well those Stiller fans love their team. I will say being a born and raised PA boy that the Steeler fans are much better when you compare the state to Eagles fans.
Take for example where I grew up Dallas, PA when Dallas won all of those super bowls back in the 90's there were Eagles fans that wanted to change the name to Eaglesville for the super bowl week....
Also just to throw this in. I'm about to marry a girl from Western PA and if I have to hear that Black and Yellow song or Pittsburgh is going to the super bowl one more time this week the wedding is off. Oh and it's Soda not POP!

Apparently the Bears made a take off on it. It was creatively titled "Orange and Blue"
But hey. We have this...

SB XLV MVP. Mark it down.

Those guys already have a ring. Woodson needs one. He's also closer to the end of his career. I'm all for Green Bay in this one.

Woodson needs a ring, but also, as a Bengals fan I just can't ever root for Pittsburgh, I'll root for Woodley and Mundy individually, but I still want them to lose

I'm afraid there's only one force on earth that can get me to root for the Green Bay Packers. Sometimes. That force is called the Dallas Cowboys.

Neither does the other ridiculous stuff in the article.
I was a young boy the last time the Packers were in the Super Bowl but this kind of thing is common in small markets -- I remember praying for the Packers in church just off the top of my head. Wisconsin is like a giant Ann Arbor regarding the Packers: obsessed. Western PA is pretty similar demographically (Pitt must be one of the smallest markets in the NFL only GB and Buffalo are smaller off the top of my head) so I assume its the same way there. Plus regardless of place or nation, no politician in the history of the world can resist a good sports-pander.

"Western PA is pretty similar demographically"
Please elaborate by what you mean by that. I really hope that you're talking solely about market size.
"(Pitt must be one of the smallest markets in the NFL only GB and Buffalo are smaller off the top of my head)"
While Pittsburgh isn't one of the "big" media markets (by any stretch of the imagination), it is more or less average when it comes to media markets. Charlotte, Indianapolis, Baltimore, San Diego, Nashville, Kansas City, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Buffalo and Green Bay are all smaller media markets than Pittsburgh.
As for your comparison between the Green Bay media market and the Pittsburgh media market - not even close. Pittsburgh's market is almost three times larger than Green Bay's.

This is why I am leaving this state. 8 year olds Dude.

This is the kind of thing they do in Pennsylvania. Just play along and keep them happy.
