Way OT: need advice

Submitted by RedGreene on
Sorry about being so OT but I need some advice. I'm a home designer...I design upscale homes and also do interior design. I'm currently working with a client who has an ugly family. The father's ugly, the mother's ugly, the kids, the grandparents, cousins, uncles, aunts....all ugly. I'm not talking average ugly, I'm talking U.G.L.Y you ain't got no alibi ugly. My dilemma? The mother wants to do an enitre wall of family photos in the family room. Do I... A) hang the photos knowing the ugly family will make my design look bad AND that I will never have the ability to use the design in my portfolio? B) suggest to her that she use someone elses family? (I will provide the pictures) Thanks.

Maybe put some other pictures in place for the pictures for your portfolio, then switch them with the family photos once that is complete. Explain to him/her that its your company policy and that you don't publish photos with images of clients in them for legal purposes. This way you completely avoid the awkward situation. Draft something up with your letterhead or post a quick link on your website explaining the policy.

are so ugly they'd make a train take a dirt road? That's ugly! I suggest buy a bunch of matching picture frames and use the people in the frames. Arrange them on the wall as the homeowner wants. Take your portfolio pics and then let them put their own pics in thereafter your done. Explain it as you trying to help them get the proper feel for the arrangement and the "flow" of the pics. It will allow them to think about it for a while and you get what you need.

The shit that makes a thread on this board is so whack I don't know if even the poster believes himself, let alone me believing him. This is one of those cases.

What a funny and sad situation at the same time. Not ironically, but I recommend that you do as this woman asks you. You just need to buy Persian rugs to cover all the photos of this family with them. I think it will be much better. None of the designers will blame you for using carpets on the walls. Everyone did it. lol
