Way OT: MGoPuppy Name

Submitted by brewandbluesaturdays on

Need help from the community here on this one. I found a great dog from a shelter that I will be adopting tomorrow. I am trying to think of Michigan themed names and so far all I have come up with that seem sensible are... He's a yellow lab mix

Henne

Harmon

Maize

Woodson

any help from the board on this would be great thanks!

Now that is a true Michigan fan dog's name.  Unfortunately, the name is the easy part.  Getting the dog to watch the game with you is the impossible part.  Every dog I've had hides when the Michigan game is on.

Our labs name is Schemey...after Bo of course. As others have said stay away from naming them Bo as it creates confusion in its similarities to "No," and personally I feel it's unfair to your new family member. I've also heard to stick with names that are no more than two syllables as it helps with training.

Here's some prior board posts on the topic that may help as well.

I bought a dog last December and went through a similar process. The classic, and probably far too obvious, is Bo. After thinking about it a whole I narrowed it down to players that made an impact while I was at school. In conclusion, I named my dog Woodley

"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog". I assume your sharpei is a total badass.

/this post references figuative fights and figurative dogs. I in no way, shape or form endorse actual dog fighting. See the picture of my 38lb lab mix below.

I tried to name my shar pei A-Train. But her being female and being out voted by the wife and daughter, I now have Buttercup. She wears a pink diamond studded collar. I fought for Victoria so it would be close to Victors, but lost that too. but she does high five after Michigan scores. If I give her a treat.

i named our dog Maddie Stafford. She is a female American Staffordshire Terrier. I am a huge Michigan sports fan (Lions, duh) and my girlfriend is a UGA grad. We were both happy with the name.

But I was really wanting a boy to name him Charles Woodson.

I do like Henne and Shoelace as options for you though.

Already picked out for MY next Golden Retriever, but I am in a giving mood and will let you use it... but just this one time!

Hoke Borgeson or

Touchdown! (TD for short).  Then every time you're watching Michigan play and they score a TD, your dog will come running, wagging his tail and join in the celebration.

Blue.

A relative of mine has tortoises and two of their names are Maize and Blue. So when they take, off he says "Go Blue!"

the same thing 4 years ago with my Lab/Pittbull mix. I'm also a hunter and ended up picking Gunner. But the two names we were down to were Gunner and Runyan. I don't know but it seemed like a cool name for a dog but since my wife didn't know who he was she voted for Gunner.
